So I can just sit at home and make a ton of restaurant reservations for free, over the phone, then sell them online? How is that not ILLEGAL? Surely the restaurants don't condone this..

Scalping restaurant reservation is a new low. The restaurants do not benefit from it, the consumers are upset, the only ones pocketing the money are the ones which are scooping up reservations in the hope of making some profit. Some restaurants already implemented a cancellation fee for bookings, It would be ridiculous if this leeds to only booking in person or deposit for bookings.

This has happened in our small town of Hanover, PA. One restaurant in particular charges you if you cancel your reservation because God forbid you have an emergency or sick kid. Ridiculous!!!!!

Just a few years ago the pandemic made the restaurant business cry and beg for mercy. In a blink of and eye things can change for this type of industry maybe they should take care of their customer base properly instead acting like its a privilege for us just to enter their establishments. Brunch is brutal not just in NYC.
