I worked here starting in 1979-1983...I used to sing along with the music, over the microphone in the q area...Also worked at Mr' Toad's Wild Ride and Mad Tea Party & Dumbo before I xferred to security...best part of my life!
This ride scared me sooooo much as a little boy. I think the first time we went to Disney was in 1984 or 85 (age 4 or 5 for me). The only details I vaguely remember were some branches that came down over our heads and this one part where you see the Seven Dwarfs on some stairs with one of them holding a lantern. I was crying most of the ride and I remember my mom pointing to the Dwarfs and seeing them was the ONLY part of the ride I actually enjoyed at that age 😂
The most vivid memory I have is the witch turning around and scaring the soul out of my body. I was 4 years old, in 1978 before they toned the ride down.
@thomashoffman5615 I heard the original name of the attraction was called "Snow White's Nightmare" which makes this og version make way more sense, including the part where the witch "kills" you just means Snow wakes up. I guess the name was changed last minute
I think they removed it because they were also opening The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which was also based on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and they just didn’t want to have too much Snow White in Fantasyland.
For such a simple darkride, it sure was effective! I NEVER went on it again! I must've been like 5 years old, and was petrified! My grandparents used to joke to me how ridiculous it was that the only ride that scared me at Disney World was a kiddie ride.
I cannot believe Disney actually ended a ride like this-the witch crushing you with a jewel. Some have said it was supposed to be a dream but I certainly did not get that
This ride was....pure gold of old school childhood 2000’s Disney World! (I was born on Veterans Day 2004 and I have autism. So I only rode the 1994 version.) Every time I go to Magic Kingdom I always ride this every trip until it closed in May 31 2012. Forget the princess meet n greet they have now! Now, I did ride The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train once. I thought it was a good coaster. But sadly,I never rode it again because it was always getting too crowded! I absolutely adore Snow White’s Scary Adventures when I was so little. The witch never creeped me out. It was so sad this,Mickey’s Toon Town Fair ,and The Enchanted Tiki Room:Under New Management left Magic Kingdom!!!!! But, Snow White’s legacy will live on forever as one of the best Disney World attractions from my childhood.
I thought it was a good summary of the Snow White story (I never saw the movie as I was more of a WB fan.) That 1971 version is insane and makes me laugh. I wish I went on that.
this video is amazing, I grew up with the updated version and as soon as it hit that 7:15 mark I smiled so wide because that’s the ride that I remember!! It was my absolute favorite ride in Magic Kingdom and although I’m heartbroken they got rid of it, I’m glad I can still watch this and get a rush of good nostalgic memories
Same 🖤 my parents wouldn’t let me go on the original one because I got scared so easily, but I had my older cousins tell me about it before it was updated. I’m not a fan of the mine train. 😞
12:59, I'm so glad they made Snow and the prince more life-like in the updated "Enchanted Wish" version of this scene. Here, he's not even close to kissing her and has very stiff slow movements, but in the updated version they both move so lifelike, he kisses her and she wakes up before the screen goes dark, it's way better! ^^
They shouldn't have gotten rid of this Attraction in the first place that was their first mistake I also enjoyed the newest version in 1994 my family & I miss this ride very much
In the 1971 version, Ginny Tyler was the voice of the queen/witch that scared people. Listen for Mel Blanc (the man of a thousand voices), Dallas Mckennon, and Hal Smith as the Dwarves (Blanc voices Grumpy in the 71 version respectively). In the 1994 version Susan Blakeslee (current voice of the Queen/Witch) voices the Queen/Witch, Tony Jay voices the Magic Mirror, Jim Cummings voices Doc, and the voices of Snow White, The Huntsman, Sneezy, and Sleepy are unknown.
I'm pretty sure the late Mary Kay Bergman was Snow White, Peter Renaday was the Huntsman, Bob Joles was Sneezy and Jeff Bennett was Bashful. I'm just going off the top of my head, though.
@@YuukiTakemoto1996 There was no magic Mirror in the 71’ version, just a regular mirror. As mentioned above, the late Tony Jay voices the magic mirror. As the ride is getting revamped, I’m pretty sure Corey Burton (current voice of another Tony Jay Character Judge Claude Frollo) would take the role of the magic mirror.
I love Snow White's Scary Adventures One of my favorite Disney Attractions of all time I miss Walt Disney World Version (1971-1994/1994-2012) very much
Well You Know I’m so very glad that I’d had a chance To Go Onto The Walt Disney World Version Of Snow White’s Scary Adventures In It’s Own Fantasyland Back When I Had First Visited There More Than 20 Years Ago Before it’s Last And Final Day In The Year 2012 And Definitely Wasn’t Anything Compared To The DisneyLand Version That I’d Grown Up On Coming From California My HomeState !!!! 😉😉😉😉😉👍👍👍👍👍 😉😉😉😉😉👍👍👍👍👍👍
Despite being an opening day attraction, Snow White’s Scary Adventures was scary from the beginning. It had to be refurbished in 1994 to be less “scary” than the original version, but still proved to be too scary. Disney made the right choice by retiring this ride.
Retiring the ride was the "right decision" in that the 1994 version in particular was always a stale, unremarkable disappointment. The 1971 version, however, was a work of pure genius, and should have been left fundamentally unaltered.
What's wrong McFly? Chicken? Not Disney's fault you and others are cowards and aren't man enough to not be scared by Snow White. Snow White's Scary Adventures will return one day and WDW will be made great again. There is no place for a princess meet and greet in place of a dark ride based on the animated classic that started it all for Walt Disney. Even Mr. Toad and Alien Encounter will be resurrected one day. Disney is NOT for kids. Never has been and never will be.
I rode this in 1978 at the age of 4. It traumatized me for many, many years.

"Get stalked and killed by a witch" : THE RIDE!
lol
I never understood how they could make the ride that way - the 1971-1994 version

The vultures and the dwarves are now in 7DMT
My only memory was the evil queen peering down at us as you entered the ride. I always thought she was kinda hot.
