MY THOUGHTS:
I don’t envy the work Mode has to do to improve upon their previous work, but as the recipient of their work, I surely appreciate it. With these last three boards (Sixty-Five, Sonnet, and Envoy), we can clearly see how their newest board, the Tempo, came to be.

Keep up the good quality! Your reviews are always insightful!
Watching all your videos on the mode envoy has made me go out and buy one, damn!
ooo I adore that colourway!!
I think with the now added selection of mounting blocks that present different levels of flex, they could simply make the retaining screw holes shallower. So when you tighten it completely, it still doesn't touch the PCB, but when you invert the keyboard it does prevent the PCB from falling out. Or even better, provide two sets of retaining screws, one with shorter threads that does what I said above, another set with longer threads that does what they do now, so people can still use these longer threaded retaining screws to fine-tune the flex in-between different mounting block configurations.
Really wish this came in a WK and WKL version. I love my sonnet but I really wanted a more traditional 60% from them.
Love your videos. Have you seen the new Monokei Kei v2? I've been using prebuilds for some time now, doing mods here and there, however contemplating on making this my first "serious" mechkbd build. Wonder what your opinions are on their sandwiched magnetic mount?
Magnetic case is super handy tbh. I have a Radiance65 with the magnetic mount. So far that is my keeper in the collection. The Kei looks interesting tho
i feel that mode could've nailed it if they did a 2-piece case design to include WKL/WK tops while removing its weakness from screwing in the PCB assembly
Mode have stated the thing that prevents wk and wkl is the overall keeb design. The bottom has a tapered angle which gives the floating design look. If it supported wk and wkl then the would have to eliminate the design choice which was a huge inspiration for the keeb.
Also i think a two piece design also increases cost. I do wish there was another solution for the mounting system
Imo they shouldve just made it a gummy o-ring mount, similar to the snake board. now they have a weird gasket mount, still need tray mounting points because of it, and now it just sounds horrible (sorry, it does)
Also, their decision to intentionally design the case hollow (according to them) to allow for "flexiness" and "the use of foam" is not a good decision and just sounds like an excuse for a problem they couldnt properly deal with.
What I personally think is the worst of all though: They sent out like 30 boards to creators, all of them say virtually the same thing with the same video titles, all of them basically say nothing bad about the sound despite the sound obviously being pretty bad, everyone who at least comments on it beats around the bush to not actually critize the board. then theres Andy who made like one critical Mode video about the envoy and now theyre virtually at war for no reason, while he gets roasted on Modes discord and ignored for any possible future review collaboration.
This all screams to me that Mode is literally paying creators with the board and maybe more to skew the perception of the actual board quality, and I just think its a no-go. Unbiased reviewing is the holy grail that should never be touched by a company, ever, and if it is, that is VERY sus. Even if creators say they dont get told what to say in their review, the fact that Mode partners still have to fear losing that partnership if they critize a board is influencing enough.
Is the board bad? No, not at all. Is it worth the prize? Maybe, for some yes, for others no. But I personally will stay away from it and Mode for now, despite being an absolute HHKB lover.
@@SdoRyy Personally i don’t know about a gummy o-ring mount. I am all for innovation or trying new things and mounting styles. I like the idea behind it and i wish the mounting screws were not required. Overall I don’t think it is a bad board. I think it is a little pricey and the sound is okay based on the videos i have seen
I also like the fact that they sent to board to several creators. What i didn’t like was that it felt like they were all reading from the same script. While i believe a review does not have to criticize the product to be honest i do not think that is the case here. I think that then defeats the purpose of sending it out to so many people.
Regarding Andy and his envoy review, personally i liked it. I did not entirely agree with it but i liked the review. I think it was a bit too critical since he was sort of responding to Taeha who said it was close to a unikorn. But that is fine. It is a shame he is being roasted because he put out his opinion on a board and that should never happen.
@@SdoRyy according to andy's reviews, the sound is only bad on keys near the mounting points. in fast typing those can be ignored. and if you don't move your keyboard around a lot then you can even not mount with screws at all. i don't see how this is a bad sounding board overall. and sound is subjective. this board is high-pitched, so it might not be to your liking, but reviewers these days are welcoming higher-pitched boards as a result of fatigue of the foamy pebble-like sounds.
I am big fan of your reviews. ❤❤❤
Quick question, is it possible to go plateless with both tempo and envoy? 🙏
SOTC's never miss. Such a great switch.
except the stems are ridiculously small so most keycaps on them end up very loose
@@hantuan107 Oh yeah, that's true of my batch aswell. Not sure why JWK haven't fixed that, don't have that issue with Alpaca's or any other switch of theirs that I've tried.
wow, how did you modify the color of the logitech mx mouse? Please tell me! Greetings
What is the blue keyboard he uses?
Hi where do you get your keyboard cables from ?
I like the idea of having a weight on the end as well as on the bottom.
Is the initial build with the new Nixies or the OG Nixies?
Non-split BS on HHKB is heresy haha
What stabs did u use ?
Psyched to see more MX HHKB!!
whats the navy board on your desk?
That’s the Suisei65 R2 inspired bu the Hololive Vtuber Hoshimachi Suisei
It is a nice keyboard but I like more Leviatan hhkb
@alexotos, love you lofi music playlist. Care to share the list or artist? 😍
I would love it if mode did a 40% next haha
Have you seen how many people are bitching about Tempo being HHKB only? A 40% would send them into full rage.
I'm all for it (i daily a 40% "HHKB") but I think it'd be a failure sales and perception wise.
fml do i need to get the tempo too.... i just picked up the envoy a month ago
I wish this board was WKL instead of hhkb unfortunately a miss because of that
What were they thinking when they decided to go with HHKB only?
Beautiful board and the alphas sound good, but the spacebar isnt for me.
Where’s the ctrl button????!!!
caps lock
Where god intended it, on the home row
I think limiting this keyboard to HHKB will kind of keep it from being as successful as the envoy. A lot of people in the sub $300 range are going to be gamers so its almost like turning your back on a good chunk of your target customers who may only have one or two keebs at a time. I think a WKL or ANSI option would make this way better, but would probably hike the production costs. Also, I think this would benefit from the tape mod.
Agreed. I was waiting for Mode to release a 60% after trying their Envoy. Now I'm going for the Monokei Kei 60% V2

I have a hard time believing that the tempo is as great a deal as it was, after seeing the new release of kei v2.
The kei v2 comes at the same price point as the tempo but has bluetooth and EC compatibility.
I think I have made this same comment several times now, and it keeps getting deleted which is quite fishy....
Who is deleting your comments? Im confused?
The Kei v2 is different product IMO. The Kei v2 doesn't offer much customization in terms of colors for it's base price and instead has a small up-charge for color customization. While it does have things like BT and EC compat, i just think it's different product with a different mounting system and different visual appeal.
The Tempo also rings in roughly 20-30 USD cheaper in it's base config. Which is significant. Again, not saying one is better than the offer, I just thing they are very different.
@@alexotos Thanks for your feedback! Agree 100% on different product, I would love to see a sound comparison if you are able to review / get your hands on the kei v2 in the future.
As an owner of a mode65, it is definitely very cool to see the evolution of the company and products over time. Unfortunately I don't think I will buy a board from mode until bluetooth is offered as I work from multiple systems.
Yeah, I have no clue about deleted comments, maybe it was youtube who removed them. I had posted the same comment above, with link to the monokei kei website, I attempted this twice after noticing the first comment was deleted. Seems my comment was able to stay after not including the link to monokei website.
@@Fun_Plum_YT usually deletes comments with links to combat spam... I say even though plenty of videos still have suspect links posted in the comments by random bot accounts while YT does sod all

Bt and especially ec are hard to find so seems like you found exactly what you're looking for so go for it. Personally I'm thinking of designing my own case and pcb and cerakoting it myself, not really rocket science and I get exactly what I want
youtube doesnt allow links in the comments because of bots@@Fun_Plum_
