I think you're right about a lot of those top prices being signed copies but still the averages are still pretty jaw dropping for some of those! I have a lot of them but like you paid no where near that. Incredible. Might be a good time to revive this thread given all the new people that have come on board since it did the rounds last time. Crazy how many new and already expensive reissues are crowding the most expensive in our collections these days. What a speculators market. Makes me a bit nervous about 'peak vinyl' Ive gotta get around to doing one of these videos sometime. Cheers man!

I remember this thread, maybe I will do something similar but I have been bad at putting all my records into discogs. I have been known to splurge on trhe occasional vinyl. I think my og of Vio-lence Eternal Nightmare is probably one of the more expensive ones and my og of Blind Guardians Twist in the myth. Pantera vinyl is crazy expensive, about three years ago I ordered Vulgar and Cowboys from a store in th US but due to transport error I never got them and the store didn't answer my mails.... Lucky they were not that expensive then, just around 35$ each, but still.... Congratz to 1k and on towards 2k!

I did this thing about 18 months ago now.... was before Marc G did his .... I saw someone else do this and thought it would be fun, but it wasn't util Marc G did his video that the thread started running. Which was great to see all the interesting albums.

It was a bit of an undertaking but the main reason was in the drastic event that something happened to my collection I’d have some sort of half arsed proof of what was in it. Cheers mate!
Great list. Pretty high prices. I have been thinking to do also this kind of video, but using median price in discogs... There would be few metal included like Celtic Frost, but mostly 80s hardcore.

Nice to see this thread revived. When I look at the max prices on Discogs, I always think to myself "I hope I'm not the sucker who paid that much for that record" :D 40 quid for "Painkiller" isn't that bad all things considered.

I’m happy the entire Savatage & the majority of the Annihilator catalogue are being reissued , that would be a nightmare to hunt down originals for those !

Nice list , price on badlands is crazy, remember seeing it for $15 in cheap bins. Skid Row comes in at 17 for me with Kill em All at number 1 that sold for $600 + AUD , factory sealed. If I go by average price , I am the night is highest at $284 with Seasons in the abyss and oppressing the masses at 240 ... cool vid , might do one myself.
I have none of my records on discogs and I won´t start now. I´m too lazy putting 6000 vinyl records on there, hehe.... You´ll never get the money on the market anyways. I just sold a couple of Dissection albums, each for over 100 Euro. I just looked up my OG of Voivod´s "The outer Limits". That one goes for 280 Euros average. Some of the more recent Uriah Heep albums are quite expensive because they have only been released on vinyl by a small Italian lable and my 90s and 2000s Maiden records are not too cheap as well....

The averages are crazy now and will only creep up for the next few years I think, I was surprised at what made the list and what didn’t!

Discogs prices is NOT showing how expensive the record is. It just shows how much one or two stupids payed dummb price for a record
