Yorubas would have been slaves in this country if not for Papa Awolowo bcos most of their politicians have already consented that Zik should become the first premier in western region and also an Igbo man will also represent the seat in the East. Awo liberated his race, sadly his undoing was trying to rule a non existent united Nigeria. He should have consolidated his effort in developing the west instead of going for the federal election in 1959 that messed up everything he built in the west. I will forever remember that song after baba's demise that day. Late Herbert Ogunde's song...Orisa bi ire o Awolowo, ko si nile Yoruba mo, awa ti mo o. It means no one can have that heart again in Yoruba land. We heard he did full free education to all. That many professors in Yoruba land wont have been emerged. Now, we are having education being expensive from even kindergarten level. No one like him till now. Or who has given total free education among anyone of them till now.

What I regretted in life is not meeting Papa Awolowo one on one, though I was fortunate to meet and had a discussion with Chief Mrs Omotola Oyediran who was a symbol of humility. Baba was my role model though I was like a grandchild to him. I so much loved him. I Lost interest in politics after Baba' death. My father was a farmer and love Baba Awolowo to the extent that he addressed my friend.🎉
I closed my eyes for a moment and thought of what Nigeria would have been if Papa Awolowo had led this country. We lost a golden opportunity for that great leap forward. And we are where we are today as a consequence of the lost opportunity. Rest in peace Papa!

He foolishly thought that by giving IGBOS £20 that IGBOS would all kpai but the LORD God Almighty turned it to our favour; he then saw our prosperities afterwards and died shamefully. So, i don't think he will ever have peace in his grave, and so also with those of them that stole and seized IGBOS properties. The Bible says there's no peace for the wicked.

It's difficult to Imagine what the Yoruba's have made of the legacy of Chief Awolowo. He was actually an ambitious man who was driven to rule at all costs. However, it's fair to state that he was an effective administrator of the Western region of Nigeria.

Papa saw it clearly that his death was near. I remember I was out of secondary school waiting for a university admission then in the year 1987. He had a television interview in which he spoke extensively about life after death. He was talking in parable. He died some few weeks after that interview
Yes, I equally remember his interview when he went to Doddan Barracks to greet Babangida after his leg surgery. He was quoted as saying ‘there’s life after life and that life is a continuum’. We really lost a great sage and a legend.

I cried when I heard about the death of Segun in my office at P&T Ijora Lagos : I was aged 21 at the time. It was a sad day for the Yoruba race.

The greatest error of Chief Awolowo was in not graduating the self government attained in 1957 to the full sovereignty of the Yoruba Nation...this error in thinking that the intrinsically contrary indegenous Nations that the British imperialists forged to create Nigeria for the sole purpose of economic and natural resources exploitation which they bequeathed to surrogates governments in Nigeria..all the great development of the western region are lost today and the Yoruba people have suffered untold hardships and degradation till this day...that the Yoruba people are now resolutely seeking their self determining sovereign Yoruba Nation away from Nigeria... it's a disheartening shame...but the Yoruba people shall rise again under the authority of Olodumare

Papa saw it clearly that his death was near. I remember I was out of secondary school waiting for a university admission then in the year 1987. He had a television interview in which he spoke extensively about life after death. He was talking in parable. He died some few weeks after that interview
Yes, I equally remember his interview when he went to Doddan Barracks to greet Babangida after his leg surgery. He was quoted as saying ‘there’s life after life and that life is a continuum’. We really lost a great sage and a legend.
