    Just one word to describe "bravo". Lots of respect for traveling that long. I saw people putting comments like oh take the plan only 8 hours lolzzz. They dont understand the meaning of enjoying traveling. I am from New York. I always wanted to go to china from pakistan by road but you have done something very brave and special. Proud of of you brother.

      Thanks. If you’re anything like me and like to explore the world by road then such a trip should be on top of your list, highly recommend it, IF you can do it. This route was to some extent the part of shortest route, i deviated along the route to explore as i wanted to but there are various routes you may choose to get to your destination, shortest, longest or completely self tailored depending upon where you wish to go and what you wish to see along the route. Hope this helps.

      Dan Baus Iran is an oil rich nation and have always had better infrastructure. before khumeni people from Pakistan use to go to Iran on work visas. it has got immense resources and small population of mostly civilised and educated people. it shouldn't be a surprise to you is what I am saying. besides who doesn't know that balochistan is the least developed and impoverished province of Pakistan despite being richest in mineral wealth and fossil fuels.

    I just watched all 9 days of your videos - this is absolutely a dream trip for me. Thanks for sharing. The longest trip I've made was from Tennessee in the USA to Alaska, about 4,000 miles...but that trip will NEVER come to close to matching how incredible yours was. I do have a few questions:
    1. Did you have any issues with language barriers, especially in the rural parts of Iran/Pakistan where Farsi/Urdu/English might not be spoken?
    2. For an American who is not Muslim...would traveling in some of these regions bring a lot of unwanted attention and/or make the trip more dangerous?
    3. How did the Land Cruiser do? Any mechanical issues along the way?
    Thanks again for sharing these videos. Simply amazing. Glad you all had a successful trip.

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  7 лет назад +1

      Many thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed watching the clips. Likewise, the trip you made is on my list of trips to do, I would love to drive from San Francisco to Vancouver then to Anchorage through Yukon Territory to Deadhorse, Prudhoe Bay. One day I'll hopefully make that trip, InshAllah. To answer your queries:
      1) language barrier started from Bulgaria onwards, started to communicate in sign language even to explain or ask for simple things. Wasn't hard to communicate in Istanbul or Pakistan as such but in Iran with the exception of Tehran, capital city, not many would understand or speak English. Only handful of taxi drivers could make out some words of it. Had to rely on sign language even when paying for fuel and asking for directions etc.
      2) No, in my opinion, I think it's pretty safe and among all people are very helpful and considerate especially in Iran and Pakistan. In fact I meet some travellers from various parts of the world in most of these countries and while exchanging words with them none had reported any security issues or stories, telling me it's relatively safe. In Pakistan and Iran, they do provide courtesy escort for foreigners if they think its required.
      3) Im a big fan of land cruisers, always liked them for their simplicity, reliability and legendary off and on road capabilities but with ZERO issues on this trip has raised my fondness and levels of admirability of how well these machines are put together. It's amazing to travel in comfort and peace of mind knowing everything will work as it should. These things are just great...
      I hope this helps but let me know if I can assist any further. Hope you can make your dream trip. Happy travelling 🙂

      No, i didn’t pay any customs at the border since i was only temporarily importing the car into Pakistan, i drove my car back to UK making it a return road trip. I bought and used “Carnet de Passage” to temporarily import car through and into both Iran and Pakistan. I haven’t heard or come across anyone who left their cars at the border due to hefty fees but i know of many people who have paid the due customs to legally keep the cars in Pakistan permanently. Hope this answers your query.

      You can drive any car to Pakistan, small or big, including Ford Mustang. Carry out normal service before the journey & confirm its road worthiness.

    • @FarazKhan-hs3ww
      @FarazKhan-hs3ww 2 года назад

      @@dustydrifter1 thank you for prompt reply... i really appreciate i asked above question because my Mustang is low profile and i dont know the condition of roads near borders etc. Im dual national Pakistani and Canadian at pakistan border do i need to pay full custom of V8 vehicle or how it works. I asked carnet they told me to contact pakistan borders but no one answer my calls and neither reply emails. If you have any info on that will be helpful.

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  2 года назад

      @@FarazKhan-hs3ww road conditions change frequently, but normally they are well kept & maintained. Any low profile car will have some issues regardless somewhere may be due to road conditions or load etc. This shouldn’t put you off, just need to handle it when you come to it. As for carnet & customs then it depends on whether you intend to temporarily or permanently import the vehicle. For temporary import you will need a carnet and Pakistani visa on your Canadian passport, for permanent import you don’t need Carnet and visa but will be expected to pay customs. Hope this helps.

      Thank you for your comment. For temporary import you don’t need to pay any amount at the border for your car, however, you need to sort out temporary import of your car in advance by applying for “Carnet de Passage”. So, if you do bring your car using Carnet de Passage then you are allowed to keep and drive your car for 3 months in Pakistan. Hope this helps.

    Hey im going to do the same trip from London. Me and the wife both british pakistani. Apart from pak visa. What else do we need to drive down? I mean pak iran visa i suppose. Car log book? Also as we will stay a month or two. Do we need to pay car custom or anything? Thanks

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  5 лет назад +1

      Apart from visas, depending upon weather you’ll be driving back or not, you’ll need to apply and obtain “Carnet de Passage” for your car. This will allow you tax free entrance through Iran and into Pakistan, for maximum stay of 3 months in Pakistan. Cannot use NiCOP with “Carnet de Passage” therefore will need visa for Pakistan along with Turkey and Iran. Make sure your passports are valid for more than 6 months at the time of travel. You will need to apply for green card, that is your car insurance to cover you in Europe. For Turkey and Iran, you will need to buy car insurance at the border. Also, apply for IDP(International Driving Permit). For more information please go through the comments section on all the clips and you can also refer to the following thread on Trip Advisor: www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g293959-i9151-k13053042-Uk_to_Pakistan_by_Car-Pakistan.html#replies

      Thank you for watching the clips, glad you liked it. My experience at the border, on the contrary, was totally opposite to what you have heard! I was treated and welcomed very well, they helped me with all that i required to proceed with my journey. It did take a lot longer to deal with the paper work but they were extremely helpful, very accommodating and at times went out of their way to assist me. So from my experience i can only praise them for their attitude and professionalism. As for bribes, under or over the table, i never got asked for it at any stage of my trip, so cannot comment on it. Hope this helps. 🙂

    This legit makes me emotionally happy two of my uncle's did this trip in the 1960s and 1980s/1990s.The one who went in the 60s had it a little rough as roads in Iran and Turkey were not so great plus due to Communism Bulgaria and Yugoslavia were super hard to get into so they went through Greece took a ferry to Italy they only made it to Germany cause my uncle had no visa to the UK.

      I didn’t use any electronic navigation devices, i bought and invested in hard copy old fashioned maps. They were very easy to read through and much more fun to navigate my route through different countries. Apart from that all places were sign posted if you know where you’re going. Hope this helps.

    beyond all these you are such passion of answering all those same questions that you have answered earlier.
    you must be a consultant & have an agency to resolve issues & advices as per the routes & requirments.
    by the way I want to take my vehicle, travel from Riyadh to Rawalpindi Taxilla, & I don't know that how i will manage it & I am studying about journey & the 'Carnet de passage' that how it does work here in KSA.
    Thanks a lot for your brilliant effort through out your journey.

Yes you’re right, if viewers go through the comments they would get most of their questions answered, no I don’t work as a consultant yet I’m still happy to help.
      Road trip to Pakistan from KSA is possible as far as I know, I was told by someone a while back that you can drive via Iraq and Iran or get your car shipped to Iran and then make your way overland to Rawalpindi. You might want to start with KSA automobile association, asking them how to obtain a carnet de passage for Iran and Pakistan. Let me know if I can be of any further help in planning your journey... 🙂

      I would start by contacting Saudi automobile association 1st to find out about Carnet de Passage for your vehicle and or any other requirements or permission required for taking your vehicle out of the country, then i'll contact the Iranian consulate for visa requirements, then I'll be contacting the ferry company to get some quotes. For Europe, you might need to look into getting a Schengen visa and contact Turkish embassy for their visa requirement too. Hope this helps.

      Thank you for your query. The way i have edited the raw film is by cutting out parts where I’m either waiting for something to happen or i find the bits are less interesting to watch. The raw clips are normally 9 hours long for each day so to fit them into 30 mins watchable clips that you see here i had to do lots cutting here and there... however, the time in question from 4:17 to 8:50 in reality is only a difference of hardly 20 mins. While I had stopped for refuelling at the station i had reconfigured the clock on the camera, hence it seems like a huge gap. Hope this helps.

    Hi
    Hope you fine. You said if someone with British citizen with pakistani nicop can't take there car to pakistan with carnet so what is other options without out paying tax if he want to bring there car back and also I got pakistani visa with having nicop as well will I be able to take my car pakistan and bring it back to uk.

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for your query. Firstly, you need to apply for a Carnet de Passage for your vehicle which will allow you to temporarily import your car for maximum of 3 months and then you need to apply for a Pakistani visa on your British passport. As you already have one, you obviously don’t need to apply again but make sure not to use NICOP at the border, this only applies for the driver whose name appears on the car registration documents and carnet de passage, passengers can enter using NICOP. Hope this helps.

    What if u travel on a rented car?? Will the authorities allow to cross the border if u have an authority letter issued on ur name by the owner of the vehicle along with cdp??

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you for your query. Usually, details on carnet must match both the details of the owner of the vehicle and the driver who's driving the car at the time of crossing (Passport, International driving license, car registration docs etc). So in case you're hiring a car then the above will not match and therefore will be denied an entry, regardless of having an authorisation letter which anyway cannot be verified at the border. Secondly, in my opinion its not advisable to travel in a rented car, too expensive. Hope this helps.

Not sure which post of mine you are referring to but i might have said that I’ll be spending 18-21 days on my next trip to Pakistan which if all goes will happen next year. Brother I spent all my night watching your videos and was astonished and amazed at your dedication in driving and then preparing these awesome videos. I have never seen such a beautiful work on any media platform before. You should be given some kind of medal or award in appreciation of your work and I am not joking because in my opinion, you have introduced a unique idea of documenting the video of about 6400 miles journey never heard before.
    Apart from snaping the camera holder incident, may be as a result of emotional entry into your home country, no audio commentary and your own pictures every thing was at its best.
    Two questions:
    1- Were you the only driver who drove all the way to Lahore ?
    2- Taking pictures or making videos of sensitive places and buildings can get you in all sorts of troubles at border crossings and security check points. How you got away with that ?

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  8 лет назад +1

      Many thanks for your heart felt comment and regard for my humble efforts, appreciate your gesture. For your reference, if you search, there are quite a few road trip clips on RUclips and some much better with commentary.
      Yes, i had an unfortunate incident with my camera which i regret deeply. Else, I would have been able to capture rest of the scenic route to Lahore as well. I'll be adding commentary InshAllah in my next trip from London to Lahore via all the northern 'stan' countries and China next year (July 2018) so stay tuned.
      Answers to your questions:
      1) Yes I was the only driver all the way to Lahore, enjoy travelling immensely especially while i'm driving.
      2) No body stopped or questioned me for recording, because the camera was very small and discrete, i guess. And secondly there's nothing to hide at those places, so don't think there's a restriction as such.

      Thank you for watching the clips, glad that you found it amazing.
      There are few like minded people that i know are ready to travel the same route by road but find themselves in similar situation to yours i.e. they are looking to do this journey with like minded travellers. If you indicate your travel dates and plans then i might be able to put you through to them so you may buddy up for the journey.
      Carnet is valid for 1 year, legally you can leave your car in Pakistan for this time and fly back and forth, but before carnet expiry date you are expected to drive/ship your vehicle back, failing to do this would mean breach of import/export rules and regulations and that can leave you in lot of trouble with the law. (Note: your passport is stamped with carnet number upon entry). So, to answer your question, no you cannot permanently leave the car there if using Carnet.

    Did you get stopped by police while you travel to pakistan?

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  4 года назад +1

      Want to stress that i wasn’t stopped anywhere unnecessarily by the police. However, the only time i was stopped and fined was when i got caught speeding on the motorway in Pakistan, which was my fault. In my defence, i was so near my destination that the excitement of reaching and seeing loved ones took over all other reasoning... 🙂

    what if you want your car to stay their permanently and sell it would you have to pay extra for carnet de passenge

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. If you’d like to permanently import your car then you don’t need to apply for Carnet de Passage, just pay the due customs duty on your vehicle at the time of entry. Hope this helps.

      Wa Alykum Asalaam, you can get Carnet de Passgae from your local Automobile Association against either a cash deposit or an insurance. For UK, you may try www.carseurope.net. Hope this helps.

      DustyD r i f t e r that is why u got all country visas... but there is so many problumes for our visas ...

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  8 лет назад +1

      May not be that big of an issue... I think if you're holding a Pakistani passport then you would require Schengen visa for Europe, visa for Turkey and Iran for this route. It's cheaper and easier for Pakistani passport holder to obtain visa for Iran. I had to apply for visa for Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. It might be time consuming but not a 'Problem' as such, thinking out loud. Hope you get to do this trip as well 🙂

    hi im planning this journey
    but I've read from your comments that u had problem using ur Nicop when entering pak, U said u need visa with Carney, Is this true.
    bcz I don't need a visa for Pak

    • @dustydrifter1
      @dustydrifter1  7 лет назад

      Thank you for your comment, yes you do need a visa if taking car on a Carnet. Carnet is only allowed to be used by non-Pakistani citizens. If you have NICOP or Pakistani passport then you will be declined the entry at the border. Hope this helps.
