Psychic powers, ghosts, and psychic ghosts are just part of the setting. That people reacted to them in a 'okay how do we weaponize this' with stuff like leveraging them to make walking doom mechs (the metal gear of the game), is part of the 'gritty realism' of the setting.
So basically, it's a gundam situation. There are fantastic elements, but the people and their behavior/reactions to those elements are much more grounded in reality then normal for metal gear crazyness.
I both love and hate that you're starting with the older ones. On the one hand it builds up this anticipation that I know will have a great pay-off, on the other I really want to see you watch the MGRR ones *now* because they are so good.
Max0r's joke aside theres dialogue in mgs 3 about using a sideways hold on s gun as a tactical move for sweeping maneuvers like say a submachine gun.
Also it isn't more irrational than Rising. Its just as irrational as the rest of the batshit psychic bullshit in Metal Gear. Becauze its literally a semi dead guy being kept alive and made into a fire monster by a child psycho mantis because of his unquenchable hate boner that took all of the psychic attention of floating ginger.

Took a comment break after Ishmael shot the sprinkler to educate you on how they work. Worked at malls for 12 years and had to work alongside nationally certified contractors and technicians every 4 months to keep our certifications up to date. It sucked. Fire alarms do not deploy sprinkler heads. Sprinkler heads are deployed singularly when damaged.
They pop when reaching a temp of 165-195 degrees F spraying ungodly amounts of nasty stagnant water until the water is turned off via a PIV or the water district main shut off valve. They also deploy over a 3.5-4 foot radius per sprinkler meaning they cant be closer than 4 feet from eachother or within 4 inches of a wall or they may not properly deploy in sequence. Or the sprinkler explodes when damaged by incompetent people. Store owners putting clothes hangers on them. Kids throwing footballs or base balls. Ishmael shooting 1. A fire alarm just sends the signal to the fire department and makes all NACs (the bells on the buildings that make you go deaf) go off so people can evacuate. This part is rather realistic.

yeah, MGS5 is like, multiple demos slapped into each other, the beginning is like a completely different game that never made the full cut, and they went with like, the first draft they had,no refinement, and then the rest of the game,the main gameplay loop IMO is like aa demo to completely different game, and largely is just filler. but they put random tiny bits of the other game in this one at random moments throughout, that's my take on this game, also yes, kidnaping people is a thing in this game, there's like, one person there you didn't abduct. and as for quiet, she's like, part plant or w/e? the reason she doesn't wear clothes is because she breathes through her skin, as absorbs water and sun like a plant does.
i seriously think Death Stranding is more cohesive and such than this and that was also a game that felt like it was largely filler with confusing cutscenes.
also to my knowledge the Vtuber Watame and Max0r have not collabed, but it's a running "joke"? that he keeps saying in his videos "please collaborate with me watame"

Yeah to anyone wanting to play Metal Gear, I’d recommend watching a lore/timeline video about Metal Gear if you want to understand anything because the series as a whole is just wild and crazy. Only one I ever played is Revengeance and it was pretty good, also insane. 😆 Also had an amazing soundtrack!
You only played the eighth game in the series. You're in no position to give advice. You play the series in release order, then you watch a four hour lore video to get half of it.

@@BlossomPathOnStage15 yeah, I watched another video saying that Kojima just kept going over the budget and that's what got him fired, I guess in not wanting to let the money go to waste they ended up rushing the ending and that's why it's the way it is.
Gonna have to do do more research about it and learn what happened
