Great question. Actually pure aluminium is rather soft so they make a composition of aluminium with other metals to increase toughness, corrosion resistance etc.This bike has 6061 aluminum in which more than 95% is aluminium.

When you are plane road you can use 2 front and back 4,5,6 while climbing, you can use 1 front and back 1,2,3 and while going downhill 2 at front and 7,8,9 at back. The idea is to keep the chain straight b/w the cogs in front and back so that the chain remains healthy. You will learn more with personal experience.Hope this helps.
