The skateboarder vs scooter rivalry has been around for years. There are plenty of skater vs scooter videos out there showing skatepark arguments, but does anyone really know why skateboarders don't like scooters? In this video, we go over some of the reasons why this never-ending feud exists.

I was a really clumsy scooter kid and one day I fell alone while riding down a hill and badly hurt myself at a local park. Some older skaters gave me water, cleaned all my scratches and waited by my side until my mother came to pick me up. Right know I'm a beginner at skateboarding but I never forgot those guys

As a person that learned how to go on a scoot first and later on a skateboard, this was quite interesting to watch knowing that I find fun in both. Of course I'd say that I probably would get annoyed at the little kids when skateboarding because something goes on my nerves easily. But of course, I'd say I like skateboarding more than an scooter because it's quite fun to do something that takes time with someone who's impatient but also careful.
alright skatepark horror story:
i was on my way to my local skatepark and when i pulled up there were literally like 70 kids in there. they weren’t even scooter kids, they were little kids from the boys and girls club next door. they were literally writing and drawing on ramps with chalk. it wasnt even the club’s property they were completely separate from the skatepark. and the adults got mad at me when i asked them to leave. to add insult to injury, i went there the next day to skate the half pipe and sprained my wrist because i slipped on chalk.

As a scooter kid we are having an internal war beetween razors and normals and.. pros with pegs. And pretty much and difference beetween scooters so i can relate by 5 percent.
This one time there was a little girl riding her 3 wheeler scooter when she just kept getting in the way of everybody and not only skateboarders EVERYONE. Then her dad came up and started saying: My little girl is trying to ride and have fun stop getting in the way of her. Then a BMX person had enough and almost fought with the dad.
Look ppl who blame skating is dumb bc skating is not hard first second it's for all ages like scooters and third it dosnt matter at all bc not matter wish u ride it matter who is the rider don't think a lot of rides think of rider too and fourth and final is the same as third bc some ppl say bicycle is better then the skating boarding and that's sooooooo wrong bc not matter what is rides it matter at rider like third and skating is more cooler and third the skating is acculy faster then bicycle

So basically here’s my story: I was just skating in the park on my skateboard and some kid on his scooter snaked me and collided into me and then he didn’t say sorry or anything and started crying and walking towards his mum and telling her I ran into him and hit him purposely and I was just like wtf

In Norway there’s a skatepark that’s divided into scooterpark and skatepark, it’s so much better (I’m a scooterer) but it’s always the kids that get in the way…
when i was little and on a scooter my dad would never let me in the bowl or anything when there were older skateboarders around. Now that I'm older and a skateboarder i understand why

I am probably the best scooter rider at a skate park, I’m kind, considerate, a teenager, never snaking, I don’t like to grind on scooters so I don’t use wax, and to top it off, I am an insane filmer
my local skatepark was privately owned by the guy who owned the shop next to it, he put up a sign saying "no scooters" in big clear letters, and this one mom left her 4 kids there with scooters while she went to get her hair done, park owner called the cops on the mom because the sign was right by the entrance it was impossible to miss, which means the mom legally caused her kids to trespass on private property, she argued that everyone else was allowed, and the police told her "the sign clearly states scooters are not permitted" and ended up charged with "disturbing the peace" and had to pay a 5k fine and was also investigated by child services because she left her kids alone in public while she went to get her hair done

One time at my local skatepark i lost my $900 ring that my girlfriend bought me and these three scooter riders came over (they were like 8) and they found it in like 1 minutes so thats the only reason i don't absolutely hate them.

Our local skateboard has a section with smaller hills for the little kids, most of them with balance bikes or scooters. The big section is for the serious skateboarder people. It's not that hard of a concept
I don’t know how to skateboard, I grew up with scooters because I lived in a city and I’d definitely only go to small and /or not busy parks until I learn how to skate
As a skater, I have a friend who rides scooters but i dont like how a lot of people who ride scooters just have no awareness at the skate park, they will cut you off, take your turn, or just stand in the middle of a ramp.
I dislike anyone who isn't aware of where other people are going, scooter rider or not.

I can't even blame the kids. I just have to blame the parents for being foolish. One time a scooter kid stood on a manny pad for over 5 minutes and his mom encouraged him to "try again"... shes just enabling him to obstruct other ppl.

As a Bmx'er, there was a young toddler on a skooter that kept getting in ny way. I almost hit him while doing a tail whip which was pretty annoying, he also kept running up and down on the half pipe. They left luckily.

I was tryna grind but then a random 9 year old scooter kid went up and blocked my way for no reason whatsoever. I'm not technically a skateboarder, I do more rollerblading and ice skating, but this kid blocked my way and I started to panic so instead of jumping off I just went straight ahead and crashed into him. Afterward, I had to talk to his parents about the indecent and offered to give him lessons in skating or anything related to skating however they declined out of frustration. I don't feel bad since he was the one that jumped in front of me trying to signal a stop on the grind.
I personally ride a scooter, and still hate dealing with scooter kids, anyone that is young at a skatepark, is a pain. i commonly see 4 year olds or so on trikes just ditching in the middle of the park and getting in everyone’s way
The snaking thing is probably the worst thing. It's dangerous, and it leads to injuries. Then when you try to educate them about dropping in on people in the bowl or having some situational awareness, the parents get all jocked up like "my kid can do whatever they want" or "you can't tell my kid what to do". When the parent's ego and stupidity becomes an issue on top of a kid's normal lack of awareness, you've got problems.

I was skating the other day and this 9 year old little boy who was on a scooter kept saying I sucked. But the one thing that irritated me was him running in front of me (he wasn't even on his scooter) and he got ran over- It wasn't my fault cause he shouldn't have done it in the first place 🤷♀️

One time I was in the skatepark I was going fast as hell then a little kid( 5 or 6 years old) then he got in front of me and I had jumped from on top of him.That was so scary
Once I went to a park and there were so many kids they were in the bowl, on the giant quarter pipe (Rome aculy dropped in on it, it was rad) and just ervywhere else but then they cleared out and then a bunch of skaters showed up and it was awesome

Once I was just simply skating at the skate park and I see 6 kids with scooters show up with their moms, for first I ignored them but in several minutes a kid just jumped in front of me out of nowhere, I couldn't stop myself, so I fell on the ground to save the kid, skate still hit him a little, but it wasn't even enough to scratch him, he started crying without any reason, after that his mom came and started yelling at me. I hate scooter kids.

I was a scooter kid until like 3 years ago, we used to go out at 7am in the morning just to avoid the little kids, so we were not be associated with them. But in our community everyone got along with everyone if basic etiquette was respected and even today some of my best friends are skaters.
man i saw a very kind scooter kids, they were around 11-12 years old, just like me. they helped me and my my friend and gave us tips that helped a lot. but not all of them are like that, so you have a point too, but depends on the age and types of children

I started scooting more than just ride around not that long ago. On my first day in the actual skatepark I was met with a bit of grudge from skateboarders, but that disappeared- I told them "I am over 30 years old and I am just not risking starting on skate." I stayed respectfull to the others, sticked to my corner and when someone wanted to ride there, I just gave up the way for them and all was good. Guys actually appritiate it on the end that someone my age just picked up demanding hobby like this. 🙂
I remember when i was like 7 i went to some skatepark a few kms from my house. it was my first time and i haven’t even been a nuisance. i was respectful and got in no accidents. thats all i remember.

I gotta say as a scooter rider myself yes i am a kid im glad over where i live you dont really see many annoying kids who get in the way something that is annoying is theres this section which you can only go one way theres no room to dodge and little kids sometimes go the other way and I’ve come really close to hitting them because you cant see around the corners

i remember one time when i was nine i was riding my scooter at the skate park and the skaters kept getting mad at me because i kept geeing in there way. I had no clue why and thought nothing i was doing was wrong. Makes me want to die every time i remember it
The same thing happens to me all the time I hate it when I am better at skateboarding I will start out as a lame scooter kid but turn out to be really good and also know how to skateboard maybe this will help fix the skater wars as I call them

I don’t have a scooter kid story. In fact, I ride scooters. But I do have a story that’s even worse. Me and a friend went to ride at my local skate park, and then when we got there, there was a BIRTHDAY PARTY! They moved ramps, and wouldn’t let us go across, which was annoying as we were dropped off for a good two to three hours
This reminds me of my son trying to film a jump (ollie) on a ripstik.
Every time he lands it a scooter kid purposely block the camera.
I started recording as my son brakes his scooter. We then immediately left and never returned to that skatepark.

I own a scooter and I use it sometimes but I’ve just accepted that when I go to the park I’m better off just wearing my Inlines lol
My friend rides a scooter I don’t and he used to over wax EVERYTHING and I slid and broke my wrist after following after him on a grind and he felt bad and he found a solution he now puts as much wax as he wants on the rails on his scooter and not on the actual rail.
The only time I don’t like scooter riders is when they r like “ LoOk At MeEeEe” when doing anything on a 3wheeled scooter

I am a scooter rider who is still learning but I atleast know my skatepark etiquette and the scooter I use I don’t have to wax that much so I don’t get in anyone’s way and I only go to my towns park which has no one who goes to it

I think as long as theirs like skaters and don’t snake and try to get good no one will mind. I skate but one of my friends rode a scooter and was a local at our part and Everyone liked him, he went from a kid riding a scooter to going pro so he would be hitting the 9 rail and doing flips, everyone thought it was dope. But even when he was 14 and practicing lines on the flat rail and ledges no one cared cuz he hit them just like the skaters did and got in no ones way

As a kid I grew up as a scooter kid. But later in life ( roughly 11-12 ) I learnt to skate. So at this point I'm in the centre of this.

I’m a kid and I ride a skateboard and scooter but I was raised correctly and I know how to act at a skatepark. I respect the others especially the older people. I always take turns before I begin riding around.
I check my surroundings before stopping in or riding around so that I keep myself and others safe. Most of the time I’m asking the other skaters how to do certain things and their nice enough to give me tips.
Just be mindful of your surroundings and respect the people around you and you’ll be good.

Scooter kid here, and I just try to get out of the way of skaters and try to be as respectful as possible at a skatepark.

I'm an old scooter kid who is very actually nice but now I started to skate because it is fun
I think the divide between skaters and scooters is much bigger than between park skiers and boarders. As someone who’s way more familiar with snow sports, I never really understood why skateboarders disliked scooter kids so much, but this video does an excellent job of laying it out objectively.

Oh, say if you wanna skate a rail but its so crusty and rusted out, just put a bit of wax on it and it will grind just fine

Us skateboarders don't like scooters. Just because they take longer to move and skateboards go faster, and they always get in the way of the tricks, and they always overwax and it's so annoying. They just need to make a scooter park
