I didn't like the campaign much at first because when you get halfway, it gets confusing. But now that I understand it, it's a bearable campaign. But honestly, no common player will spend time to actually find out the true story and most people are just flat out confused with story. Plus it has nothing to do with the Black Ops series.
When Life Smacks You In The Face well actually it does have something in common with the BO series. In the game we know that the DEAD system haw been created after Menendez actions in BO 2, so in some ways the universe is the same...

Its a really thought out story.

Andre M If you go on the terminal/computer in the main menu and go on Hudson's account, there's a guy named "John Trent" who's sending messages to Hudson saying that everything he knows is wrong. He talks about the Vorkuta Breakout and talks about JFK. He even says Reznov's quotes and his last message to Hudson was "please tell Mason one thing, this time it's freedom for both of us". There's also a hidden message from the numbers of the beginning of each mission. If you decode it using for example, 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, it says "Reznov is Dead: Or is he dead, there was no body, is he who he says he is"

Black ops 1 continues where world at war left off but is a standalone game that started a trilogy. I feel like black ops 3 continues where black ops 2 left off but is a standalone game that is meant to launch a new trilogy. It was bold of treyarch to make a new story with small easter egg throwbacks to the original games that came before. I thought it was a really good campaign my ONLY problem was that the mason family and the other black ops characters were not in it. I really wanted to see them come back like david as an older commander and us playing as his son or something. Other than that it was a damn good campaign. However to me black ops 2 will always be my favorite cod of all time. Black ops 1 was amazing as well but black ops 2 just started trends that ghosts, advanced warfare and now infinite warfare copied like the pick ten system, futuristic setttings, customizable campaign and etc.
Black Ops series is not a trilogy imo as people say it is as literally Black Ops 1 is a sequel to World at War. Point I want to make is that I hope people don't count out World at War in terms of discussing Black Ops stories
Something tells me we are gonna get that in the next Treyarch game. IW is doing Ghosts 2 and Sledgehammer is doing AW 2. Only makes sense that Treyarch would start a WW2 game to drive in more interest. But I'd prefer a WW2 game with Alex Mason's father and more Resnov followed by a WW1 game with Alex Mason's grandfather or something, since it is basically a Mason family saga.
I think the campaign had a very interesting and compelling plot with a lot of potential. The main thing that brought it down in my opinion was that nothing was really explained properly 🫤 You don’t really know who each character is or wants, every enemy (except for the AI Virus maybe) aren’t really given any motives or backstory and the complex plot and futuristic world is barely given time to breathe. The game basically throws it at you expecting you to know exactly what’s going on and why which makes it confusing which makes it not compelling which makes it not worth playing 👎 Plus, aside from the occasional dialogue call backs, this game has nothing to do with the Black Ops series, not really, which I’m sure disappointed a lot of people. If it has just been handled differently, I imagine it would have been one of the best campaigns.

You can't deny Treyarch have made clever mind-bending campaigns in their Black Ops series. At least in comparison to Advanced Warfare and Ghosts' campaigns.

When people say the future exo stuff is unrealistic...... do people even realise that the US military have been testing and trialling exo suits for a few years now, starting to think that gamers think that cod and its time lines and events are the real reality, go outside.
Exo suits in cod are nothing like real life exo suits being tested. Exo suits in cod make jump high, greater speed, stronger, and other insane perks. Real life exo suits are designed just for carrying stuff so a soldier can carry up to 300 to 400 pounds, making you slower and less maneuverable.
I hate how this is one of the most disliked cod campaigs. It is and forever will be my favourite and number one call of duty campaign. The story the best. It's so deep and complex and scary with the future themes that it explores and how when you're playing through the game you don't realise the narrative you played through isn't the actual narrative

Only makes sense that Treyarch would start a WW2 game to drive in more interest. But I'd prefer a WW2 game with Alex Mason's father and more Resnov followed by a WW1 game with Alex Mason's grandfather or something, since it is basically a Mason family saga.

I think the campaign had a very interesting and compelling plot with a lot of potential. The main thing that brought it down in my opinion was that nothing was really explained properly 🫤 You don’t really know who each character is or wants, every enemy (except for the AI Virus maybe) aren’t really given any motives or backstory and the complex plot and futuristic world is barely given time to breathe. The game basically throws it at you expecting you to know exactly what’s going on and why which makes it confusing which makes it not compelling which makes it not worth playing 👎 Plus, aside from the occasional dialogue call backs, this game has nothing to do with the Black Ops series, not really, which I’m sure disappointed a lot of people. If it has just been handled differently, I imagine it would have been one of the best campaigns.

I'm still playing with this game, most critics says this is the worse campaign in cod history, because they didn't understand what is about the story just run and shoot everyone from the first to the final mission, if just for one thing can recognize what is about, you can understand what's going on, maybe can be confusing, but later you can find the truth about the story.

When people say the future exo stuff is unrealistic...... do people even realise that the US military have been testing and trialling exo suits for a few years now, starting to think that gamers think that cod and its time lines and events are the real reality, go outside.
Exo suits in cod are nothing like real life exo suits being tested. Exo suits in cod make jump high, greater speed, stronger, and other insane perks. Real life exo suits are designed just for carrying stuff so a soldier can carry up to 300 to 400 pounds, making you slower and less maneuverable.

I hate how this is one of the most disliked cod campaigs. It is and forever will be my favourite and number one call of duty campaign. The story the best. It's so deep and complex and scary with the future themes that it explores and how when you're playing through the game you don't realise the narrative you played through isn't the actual narrative

With Ultra High Definition TV its almost 3D the maps are so good, sound effects also are very good, a fast moving game with lots of surprises.
How about this for the next Treyarch game: Call of Duty: Proxy Wars. Have a storyline where you fight against ISIS and the Russians in Syria and Iraq. Or fighting undercover with the allied Saudi forces in Yemen against the pro-Iranian Houthis. Yeah?
