I have an 83 Ram Miser. Swapped in a 360 from a 79 New Yorker paired with a 727. Just finished up the rear brake lines that were leaking and changing all the fluids. Noticed I need to do the job you are doing and I'm not looking forward to it, but, all I need to do is look at sticker prices on new trucks and it WILL get done. My advantage is I have a large bead blast cabinet for cleaning rust off parts and a 7 hp air compressor.
Yeah the hardest part for me was pushing the old bushing out of the control arms and pushing the new ones in, other than that everything was smooth sailing just time consuming. You should look into upgrading the steering shaft as well if you still got the factory style.
I hope that you installed them Zerk fittings..??.. Plus, give them a few pumps from a very good grease gun..??.. Something with a good tacky texture of a grease, from maybe like Lucas tub of grease...
For the upper ball joints, I usually put the upper control arm back on and use a big ass adjustable wrench to break the ball joints loose along with a torching
I'm kinda surprised that you didn't spray paint those Control Arms evenly.. I would have allowed myself 3 coats and then 4 coats of Clear... For that quality Brand New Look... So, that way when I take my ride to the Cat & Truck Show... I can place a 5' X 8' long mirror under my handy work.. That way I can jus tell the folks, if they are not happy with my Custom work..??.. They can jus blow me...
