Great ideas. Though I have had to make several quick adjusting clamps into standard clamps, the mechanism to quick adjust on the HF clamps isn’t very good.

Thanks. Hmm interesting I've yet to have any issues with them. But then again I'm not putting a ton of clamping force on them when clamping down parts. Only just enough to hold them in place from moving when I weld.

@@RathaSochenda I wasn’t putting much pressure on the clamp either. It’s just how it goes sometimes with HF. I used hardwire to weld up the tooth piece and it works fine. I believe they are just cast steel. Good clamps for cutting and welding as you have done here.

Yeah I know what you mean with HF stuff. I’m glad you were able to find a solution 👍🏾

Is there a reason you did not drill a 5/8 hole into quick release housing and plug weld the 5/8 rod into the hole? In that way you would have no weld on the outside of the clamp and it would ride still closer to the fixture table.

He trimmed the casting as close as possible to the housing button, so the clamp would sit as close to the bench surface as possible.
Was there enough metal in the housing to drill a relief into it?

Not enough material to clear the internals of the quick release components

@@RathaSochenda thank you for your reply. I have a different brand of quick release on the way. Maybe I’ll get lucky and have more meat in that area, or maybe I’ll be able to thread it 5/8-18 NF with some red thread locker.
