Be careful that you don't buy a clone Pandora's Box. They both have some of the same shells but what really counts is what inside. The clone has a cheap board with a slow processor and the real one will have a A7 quad core processor 1.2GHz/ 2GB Ram and a fan on top of the processor to keep it cool. The cheap clones will lag and spoils the whole gaming experience and the real one will have the speed your looking for and will give you a better arcade experience. Just my 2 cents ;)

I think the pcb inside the station "pb4" isn't pb4... but a pb3 modified, 'cause the pb4 have red pcb, and pb3 have blue one like that... in fact pb3 can be modified to pb4...

Does any of the Pandora's Box preserve the original picture quality of the original game, with the image enhancement feature turned off and hooked up to a CRT?
Also, can the device auto load a game when powered on?
And finally, is it possible when turning on this device to have the intro be skipped?
itchyisvegeta it will make the picture quite fuzzy in the CRT mode unless you connect it directly to a CRT obviously, but yes at that point it will do a decent job at preserving the original display of the games. With it set up the way it is, the higher resolution and larger size of your tv/projector it will pixelate the games more than a smaller one.

HI, If you want custom or replacement decals for your game station you will have to design or download your image and take it to a large format printer in your area. There are no real places to purchase new decal themes for these that I know of. It would be cheaper to do it the way I am suggesting anyway.
My PB4 and PB4s+ both dont work in my arcade cabinet over vga. Strange as my PB4 (without hdmi) works perfectly.

The Pandora's box doesn't have an option like that so you will have to split the video out from HDMI or use each video VGA & HDMI at the same time out to a computer or whatever you prefer to record your video. That is how most people do it.

True Goldleaf buttons and Joysticks are not produced anymore. You may be able to find some NOS somewhere but there is some amazing alternatives out now. Our Fusion buttons and IL Joysticks for example.

Quick Question for you. A friend of mine has the 4s and if he wants to play 2 players the 2nd player joystick doesn't work on some games(donkey kong/dig dug/frogger and others) Basically you have to use the 1st player joystick for both 1st and 2nd player on these games. Fighting game and others games don't have this problem. I was wondering if you have this same thing happen on your machines or if the 4s is the only one that does this.
NINE1SIX any and all arcade machines do this. those games were only designed to play 1 player at a time, besides cocktail cabinets. There are no classic arcades with a 2 player set up even if they were 2 player games. You always had to swap out players on the old pac man type machines.
will 5.07 for v5+ and for v12+ 11.84 work for pandora's box 4s on the power supply
Is there a mod or any way that you can think of that I can separate the joysticks so that I don't have to play a 2p game with my opponent standing so close to me? Would buying a second machine and somehow splicing them together work? Is there a way I can easily hook up another joystick to this machine via a cable of some kind?
The short answer is no. Not simply anyway, you can hack up all the wiring and solder new wires on from another controller or joystick if you really wanted to.

Awesome vid, thanks for the comparison. I do have a question regarding the pandoras box 4. I bought a custom box about a year ago and my great nephew got pretty rough with it resulting in my "E" button on the 1 player side to stop working. My buttons are LED buttons and I have switched out the micro switch on the one damaged, the LED lights up, but still no contact... any ideas? I am new to this.
It will be the actual pushbutton switch or the connector on the end of the wire or the wire connection at the Jamma harness.While your game station is on trouble shoot the button, connect another wire to it and see if it works, for the connector, pull back the rubber insulated cover and touch it to the ground connector directly and see if you get an action from that. If the wire switch works then your button is ok, if the direct connection of wires does not work you have a bad connection or solder point on the wire. Replacing the connector is easy, home depot sells connector packs, the connection at the Jamma harness requires a solder fix.
I have one with the pcb inside and it is freezing at the logo screen upon start up!!! Any ideas what the problem might be???
You should open it up and on the underside of the PCB board there should be an SD card in it. Remove the SD card and seat it back in really well, fire it back up and it should work fine.

I have a question o ran into a Pandora's box x and a Pandora's box 4 x have you seen or heard of those or are they bogus copies ? Thanks
There are so many new spin off's, clones and remakes of these now it is hard to say. The Pandora's Box 4 runs off of android platform so it has been copied and put on many different boards now. I find that some of the new ones are faster than the original PD4/S but there are a few that lag pretty bad. I would just buy from a trusted source if you have any concerns about its quality.
I just installed the Pandora's box 5s but the coin wire doesn't work.. I can't get credits
Go into the menu first and do an I/O test, that will tell you if your buttons are working properly. If everything is fine and still nothing, you will have to change your menu settings to free play to be able to play games. Recheck your wiring as well, do you have a coin door too?
The buttons of this device sound not really good as a real arcade machine. I really expect they can make the buttons like HORI did.

My cousin gave me the exact same double arcade stick, the one with blue and green buttons.The only problem is he took the pcb and put it in his arcade cabinet.Would I be able to put a pandora's box 4s by removing the pcb from its case?I notice there's a difference between the two,I'm just not sure if it's compatible.
ric rodrigo it will work fine but it may not line up with the holes in the back for a clean finished look.

Great review, but the delivery time is questionable. Sounds like you have them drop shipped from China.
Nothing wrong with that, but 2 to 4 week wait time for a Pandora 4s With XBox and PS is less than $275.0 from China with 6 to 8 day shipping, Wait a couple weeks for more orders and the price goes down by 5%.
The other versions that are not as good as the one you have on your video are 100 dollars less, and more than likely have pirated software in them.
Got mine on Amazon, arrived the day after I ordered the thing so yeah, sounds like dropshipping if it takes that long.

Wil So shipping is calculated at checkout, you can also look as a guest to get an exact quote but you are looking at about 20 to 30 bucks. Yes it is insured, choose expedited, comes with tracking number.

On MLSG2 I can clearly see the screen tear... why have they not fixed the screen tear issues with these pandoras :(
Kaylied Gamer RGB at 60hz Videogaming did you get an OEM version of a clone version? Clones are notorious for it. The new PD5 doesn't seem to have those issues and all the games are finally in alphabetical order!
Can you change the joy stick or just the knob out to the baseball bat looking instead of that ball style?

Just wondering if maybe you guys could answer this. We are having troubles turning down the volume and changing difficulty on games. By troubles I mean we can't even figure out to even get to the menu. We have the Varcade system with street fighter design. The instructions come in Hong Kong and for a different model.
Maggie Vogel im not sure about their unit but if you cannot access the pandoras box from the outside you will have to open t be unit by taking the screws from under the control panel. There is a black button on the side. Press that while it is powered on and the menu will pop up. I'm surprised they will not help you directly? good to know...

Im having trouble with mine. i cant go back to the menu by pressing start and coin and always have to reprogram to get to the menu. help please.
You probably have one that uses just a 1 button press for pause that will bring up the menu for pause and exit. Try just pressing the middle top button once and see if it will pause your game.

hi, great video, I'm very interesting in getting the 4s, but how difficult it will be to change those buttons for the fighting games?
They are very easy to change, takes 5 min to do if they are wired backwards. The new ones that are out do not have that problem so you are probably safe. I have a new review coming out today that goes into way more details about these gaming stations and the new improved versions.

Damon Mathews if it is the actual jamma version yes. If it is the blue case with the fan you may not be able to. You would have to get a board from that specific supplier.
I have the Pandora's box 4S+ with 815 games. How can i get the best picture quality?
Some new 16:9 lcd tv with hdmi 46", or a 4:3 monitor 19" vas ? ...or somerhing else?
All Pandora's Box products are designed to work with newer HD TV's and monitors so it doesn't really matter to be honest. 4:3 was the best way but the way they have programmed these boxes now it will work with either. 4:3 is always the best to get as close to the original as possible but there is no stretch effect with the new 16:9 screens on the Pandora's Box products.

Personally I would use a 22" LCD Monitor, try and stay away from TV's all together if you can and definatley use an HDMI with the Pandora's Box.

Franco Verdino these ones are 8 only and cannot be changed. Our new ones that are Xbox360 and ps3 compatible are 4 or 8 way switchable.

ldl0021 it will fit the footprint perfectly but the bolts inside are not long enough to fit the thick mount on a Happ or IL. they are spot welded on so you can't extend them either. If you can find an elongated nut it might work.

So i noticed the PC output works just fine but the HDMI doesnt work... It gets sound but no picture... Kinda odd, googled it, but couldnt find an answer to the issue... Have you seen this happen before?
ldl0021 I have not. they usually work or don't work. It doesn't make sense that you would get video and no sound from the HDMI.

Julio Valdez Yes, but you will have to splice it into the jamma harness. Be sure to use the 12v and 5v and ground leads to power the harness to the Pandoras Box.
Can these accept coins or be easily made to?
Technically yes, You would have to put the coin mech in a separate box or something. If you are looking to charge for these games commercially they are not licensed for that and your establishment could possibly be fined.

Are all games full speed on the 4s?
About 90% are good, there are a few that lag a bit. The new PD5 is much better, about 96%.
Is there a way convert the box into 4 player?
These do not have that capability and there is no 4 player games on them. The games that are traditionally 4 player games only have a 2 player adaptation of the rom installed.

What are the USB-Slots for?
On the Xbox 360/PS3 versions they are for output to use it as a controller for the console systems. If it is not that version they are just empty ports, they mass produce them so they do not change the product design only the drivers in the software. Some say you can connect a USB controller and use that but I have not been able to do that on one yet.

Can I plug my 4s to my ps4?
No you cannot, the connection of these to PS4 is to use the the game station as a controller, the unit is supposed to be powered off when you plug it into the PS4, it does not display the 4s on your PS4.

do you know if there are any screen requirements when running with hdmi? I have one running on a 27" led screen and works fine but if I plug it into my Panasonic 50" plasma it will show nothing on the screen at all.
I have plugged it into tons of different TVs and projectors without fail. There should be no special requirements for it to work. I hate to ask but I have to, are you sure you have it on the right input on the TV? Does your TV have a VGA/PC input? Try both if you can. You can also try to raise or lower your TVs resolution to see if you can get it to work.
thanks for the reply. I have tried all 3 hdmi input channels my TV has with no picture or sound. if I plug it into either of my computer screens it works fine via hdmi. I tested with vga on the TV and that works fine but was really hoping to use hdmi with the benefit of audio/video in one cable. I guess it must just be my TV. as far as I know I can't manually change the resolution for the TV it's just automatic.
It may just be your TV but there has to be a way for you to change the resolution or even the mode on your TV from 16:9 to 4:3 etc. It would be in TV settings somewhere. If you cannot find that anywhere there isn't much else I can help you with because it is working on everything else you are connecting to. I will contact my supplier and keep an eye out for this problem in the future but for now you are the first with this issue. I will contact you with a solution if I find one.
