Painting A Red Fox In Oil - Technique

  • Several years ago I created a piece titled “A Better Look” which portrayed a coyote on a round bale that got some pretty good feedback at one of my exhibits. I felt the need to revisit that composition ever since but with a red fox as the main actor instead. The foxes tawny coloured fur was perfect to contrast against the cool shadows in the background. Having witnessed this scene a few times on our own round bales I had a pretty easy time visualizing this composition.

    Beautiful fox. Thanks for this video. I know what you mean about being so excited to see an animal. I once heard that I had to have a message to my paintings. I thought, isn't the magnificence of this animal enough? I guess i am not deep!LOL! I am just impressed by the natural world! Btw, that light on the puma is also breathtaking. Congratulations.

    Des-Glad i've found your site! I've dabbled for maybe 20 years now and like you i have zero instruction! I also like to do realism but at 80 years old, it takes up too much of my time! Keep up the good work! It looks as though you do some work on panels...is that correct?

    • @DesMcCaffrey
      @DesMcCaffrey  2 года назад

      Yes, I paint mainly on panels I prepare myself. Thanks for subscribing. 🙏🏻😊

    Thank you for showing how you SKETCHED out your drawing , and then TRACED it onto your canvas. OTHER PODCAST show TRACING from a Photo telling beginners how to RIGHT from a photo. I may make a copy for Reference . Many times the photographer will put down what camera they used , lighting , and any Telescope lens added. time of day. Locations
