No. The man at the beginning is a "real" Texan, not the one at the end. We don't all think we're better than others. We just live a completely different way of life than most others, and we're quite proud of it. That's it. Proud, but not better.

Unfortunately, after moving to Houston for the last 4 years, I have to say there's more of the latter in this endless nonsensical suburbian on steroids experiment. I hope the rest of Texas are more like the first guy.

I have to say the old guy he talked to seemed like a really nice guy. Down to earth. Clarkson may say he 'hates' America and the cars we drive, but I think he also has a great appreciation for them as well. It is cool that the Bigfoot people let him drive it. Oh, and that 1 gal/300 yrds, you have to remember, that isn't "gas"....... it really doesn't have anything to do with foreign oil.

LOL, I loove that truck! I want it! I know just what he means about ugly being the best. I like to keep my cars ugly. I had a Legacy AWD wagon with a Volvo logo on the front and some sort of black mold or something growing all over the white paint, and a 4x4 sticker on the tailgate. A Geo Tracker with a mud-over-blue paint job, and no windows. My red n black '87 F-150 with 33" mudders (on the rear) and a plow frame. My Volvo 240 wagon, plank bumpers, and a "Yeah, It's Got A Hemi" bumper sticker.

Hold on just a minute. Those things get 300yds to the gallon?! That's the same as a Boeing 747, which weighs half a million pounds. It's got four engines, each large enough for a full-grown man to stand upright in, and it develops power by pouring fuel into the engine, lighting it, and letting it blast out the back. And you're telling me a pickup with big tires gets the same mileage? Jesus.

I made the mistake of getting rid of my old '78 chevy some years back and I've been looking for another just like it ever since. When I see a nice stretch of road, and inviting two-track, a rocky hill, even a small parking space the first thought in my head is "I wish I still had my truck".

Don't let Clarkson fool you, if he had been born in America, he'd likely be one of it's biggest cheerleaders. As much as he loves automotive culture (and it's pretty obvious that he does) there is no way he could have spent so much time in America (he has) and not be attuned to our car culture. He's just trying to get a rise out of people...
