2 billion years ago was in the middle of Paleoproterozoica Era. It was also during the greatest mass die-off that took place on Earth with up to 99.5 percent of life disappearing. The oceans were green colored at the start of the Paleoproterozoica Era (2.5 billion years ago) with dissolved iron. As the cyanobacteria produced oxygen, the dissolved iron for hundreds of millions of years, turned the oceans orange as the iron combined with oxygen that precipitated out of the water and sank to the bottom of the seas. The dissolved oxygen levels in the ocean (and atmosphere) started to climb as available dissolved iron were oxidized during this Great Oxidation Event (GOE). The Huronian glaciation (or Makganyene glaciation) was a glaciation that extended from 2.4 billion years ago (Gya) to 2.1 Gya, during the Siderian and Rhyacian periods of the Paleoproterozoic era. The Huronian glaciation followed the Great Oxygenation Event (GOE), a time when increased atmospheric oxygen decreased atmospheric methane. The oxygen combined with the methane to form carbon dioxide and water, which do not retain heat as well as methane does. The glaciation which covered virtually the entire planet, led to a mass extinction on Earth. Any discussion of 2 billion years ago probably should include these key points.

Great vid. I don't know why, but something about this time period, when Earth would appear barren and largely uneventful, fascinates me. I wouldn't mind actually spending that day there (with a protective suit and oxygen supply, of course).
Uneventful is probably not how the majority of bacteria which were all anaerobic at the time would describe that period, not with the new critter on the block the cyanobacteria quite literally excreting poison (Oxygen) en mass. It's thought that a significant minority perhaps even a majority of bacterial species went extinct as a result of them, in turn they also laid the groundwork for much more complex organisms that wouldn't have been possible without the significantly improved energy availability offered by aerobic respiration so yeah that's not really uneventful even if it might look very calm to our big eyes that can't see the small things that are revolutionising the planet.

@@darth856 you forget, a closer moon increases gravitational pull exponentially. A 15 hour orbit with an increased gravitational pull would not only be creating massive tidal shifts, but also a major increase in friction and techtonic shifting under the Earth's crust. Shorelines would be different, underwater chasims being created and destroyed rapidly. These would be turbulent waters. This disrupts cyanobacteria bloom, and that doesn't even take into account the UV sterilization that would occur because there 2:00 wasn't enough ozone to protect from the harmful rays. In current conditions, with our current O2 and O3 levels that protect us, UV rays can still penetrate up to 200 meters, (about 656 feet) into water. Without our ozone and oxygen levels slowing and absorbing these rays, they could easily penetrate much deeper, thus causing a more sterile environment in conditions that would have been turbulent enough to ensure they all receive plenty of radiation. 3:42 [cyanobacteria] "were in every corner that has water, and they were throughout the whole ocean" because 3:15 "the waters would be peaceful for tens of thousands of kilometers". 10,000 km is approx 6,213.7 miles. That's ¼ of Earth's diameter. Tens, plural, would indicate more than one unit of 10,000 km, or more than half the earth. This is impossible with a moon, 2:44 "gigantic" because it's "many times closer" and in orbit every 1:06 15 hrs. Sorry, this video is self contradictory.
well we have no real evidence about any of this showed in the video we cant even tell what happened 2000 years ago how are we supposed to know what happened million/billion years ago?
Some minor nits* with this but still a fascinating, nicely done & thought-provoking youtube clip on the (very) early Earth's (plus more) state. Shared Thanks. * Uneventful being a matter of opinion, sand vs soil underwater, storms and volcanoes at that era? O3 deadliness back then?

Fascinating. Also the narrator's voice sounds like the recordings on dead space 3. Chilling 😮

The Next Video : Spending a Day on Earth in The Tribal Times
felt alone, unity, lost, and hope all at same time when i saw earth from space point of view like that it's trully a humbling experience. yet died not knowing that we survive or perish
You mean to say..without netflix and uber right?
*AND NO WIFI*
Thank you for your insight. Much appreciated.
You deserve your own TV show
*Channel's main priority: Show random amazing views of earth before the video starts*
If the moon was so close to earth, how were the oceans calm enough to have any life? The tides would be tsunami size.
Jason Meinhart exactly!!! Thank u!
A 10ft wave on that shore wouldnt noticable 500mi away and 2 miles down
Tides would be bigger, but I doubt that would be a problem for bacteria in the oceans
This is like school, but reeaaaally fun. Love it.
No one:
Literally no one:
People who think the earth is only 10,000 years old: I think they meant the universe
well we have no real evidence about any of this showed in the video we cant even tell what happened 2000 years ago how are we supposed to know what happened million/billion years ago?
Ne volim da komentarisem na ovakvim klipovima na srpskom, ali bas mi je drago da vidim kvalitetne kanale iz nase zemlje :D
When I see your channel I remember god ❤️❤️❤️
Panfk God,,, not “god”... we gotta show respect for the lord even in our way of wording !💓🙏🏽no offense intended ;)
Kri MD if god does exist he seems like a shitty person
love your content mate
Imagine how the earth would be like if humans never existed....
It would be quite and calm
Carlos Domingo nah. Definitely quiter but the entire place would be forests meaning a lot more animals
Oscar Vasquez Iglesias How can we imagine that if we never existed to have the ability to imagine shit ?
Have not seen this b4- really good.
No you can't spend it! Why?
The sun is a deadly lazer
Blackhole S5 001481 what?
Not anymore there's a blanket
Some minor nits* with this but still a fascinating, nicely done & thought-provoking youtube clip on the (very) early Earth's (plus more) state. Shared Thanks.
* Uneventful being a matter of opinion, sand vs soil underwater, storms and volcanoes at that era? O3 deadliness back then?
next:spendding a day without u havin no money please dis next
Rhea Manansala what ? Can’t fully understand what you’re saying , with the bad grammar and slang terminology ... I get it , people wanna make sure they use every catch phrase thinking they’re so edgy and relevant online / social media 🙄, but if you want to be viewed with any sense of respect , how about making the effort to say things remotely in the correct way ? Seriously , I don’t know how so many people want to intentionally talk like that and demand to be taken seriously ...
your videos are awesome man
