I’m new to this keyboard hobby, and I just bought a monsgeek m1. I took a lot of time to find a video that explains clearly the building process and that contains exactly the mods I want to do, but your video is perfect and I’m going to follow it to build mine
The brass gold design on the side profiles are such a nice touch! Looks pretty premium for a "budget" aluminum keyboard :0 and it has gamer rgb!!!! :333 nice build sir, keep up the good work :DDD also the video is pretty nice and simple, straight to the point.
THANK YOU for making this video. I recently bought this keyboard and found your guide incredibly helpful when it came to assembling it (particularly the stabilisers). Monsgeek should link to this on their website, since they provide no meaningful documentation. Coincidentally, I'm also using the crystal wine red switches in my build, and am finding them "interesting" compared with the other switches I've used (Cherry red, Gateron brown, Cherry blue). They're fun and super-light but I think I'll eventually find something else which has a bit more resistance. They also have the tendency to come out of the board when I lift off the keycaps. My M1 with PBT/doubleshot keycaps had a VERY metallic space bar sound, so I applied the "jelly tape" mod; layers of plastic double-sided tape inside the space bar, and this has completely resolved that issue.
Welcome and Thanks for the comment too! I'm glad to be able to help and I have the same thoughts on the crystal wine switches. I prefer something heavier and deeper.
I just bought an M1 and im curious if I have to take it apart and do this. Im new to keyboards and have no idea what im doing for set up. Is it possible to use it as it comes? Also if I do, am I losing out on a lot?
Hey it's possible just to use it as it comes no worries there. Maybe you can use it normally first and once you're more comfortable you can use my video as a reference to modify your keyboard
I would say the M1 has better build quality but the Hi75 sounds better. If you want a higher quality keyboard get the M1, but if you wanna play around with the mods and make it sound a certain way try the Hi75
I have no clue on how to assemble the stabilizers and the teflon pads I was given with my keyboard look nothing like th eones in this video (they are rectangular with circles in the middle of them) do you have any way to help me?
I have a question... I'm installing the stabs right now but i don't now which screws I need to use for them... can anybody help me? (sorry for my spelling im german)
Hi Im planning to buy this keyboard and have zero experience with custom keyboards or modding. Can I buy the barebones instead and just insert switches and keycaps? Like, is it required to open the keyboard? 😅
Hey! Yea that would be perfectly fine and most people do that. I just like to show the whole process of modding and building. You don't have to follow 100% 🤣 no worries it's easy
@@itssamueltan Thanks!! Been hesitant to buy it since I might break something lol. I appreciate your response during the holidays and after how many months this has been posted! Happy holidays!
bro, how do you turn this keyboard on and connect with 2.4gz. pleasea make a video for the newbs like me. the guys didn't include the review manual with mine when i purchased it haha!
I really want a metal CnC cut keyboard. But I need the wireless capability. Keychron q1 pro is way too tall for my taste . So I don’t have other choices
@@rukuarts3450 how will it transmit wifi signals (connect to your computer) without power? Its not that simple. Im waiting this month to see if it comes out.
I got red one. But its not International version and QMK is not supported as well. And there is interference at the knob. Too bad, but still be one of my daily driven keyboard.
@@itssamueltan during the purchase, the seller didnt mention the board was not international version. After the international version came out, i realized the price was way too expensive. But its ok. Really enjoy the board. And the cheapest Aluminum board we can get.
Great Video with in-depth explanation, I ordered the M1 as well as the akko cream yellow pro's yesterday and will definitely use this as a guide to assemble mine. Regarding the Stabilizers, the screw ins are better than the clip? And so only lube the stab itself and not the switch of it? Thanks in advance!
Screw ins then to be more stable and rattle less. But for me if tuned both perform almost the same. You can lubed both, it helps too but use lighter lube on the housing of the stabs
The included "tape mod" adhesive sheet while a thoughtful idea, is not good in execution. The paper is too stiff that it does not contour to the bottom of the PCB because it is sitting on the hot swap sockets and not touching the PCB where it matters. That results in large air gaps between each row and a hollower sound than stock. When using painter's tape for tape mod I can take more care and make sure the tape touches the PCB in between each row of sockets. Personally I feel that my M1W sounds best with the stock foams and no tape mod. The whole point of case foams that have the PCB cutouts is that the foam rests right up against the PCB and isolates one socket from the next.
I agree that the tape mod included is kinda stiff and of course a few layers of painters tape will sound better. But it's included to help beginners and to keep the warranty. If anything happens because you modded it yourself you will have to fix the keyboard yourself, but if you use the mods given and something breaks you can just ask for a replacement.
Ik this is 4 months late but can someone tell me what the latency of this keyboard is? Its really difficult to find latencys for custom keyboards and i meed help.
@@itssamueltan i found a physical stock in store and the price isnt really a problem. Im just considering latency. I was actually considering the wooting60he once but the stock and the fact its a 60% made me consider the m1. If latency isnt a problem i might get it tyty

Do I really need to disassemble the PCB just to remove the stock plate-mounted stabs? The PCB foam seems to get in the way. Can I just force it out?
You can remove the stock plate mounted stabs without disassembling the whole PCB. I'm just showing the insides of the keyboard in the video 👌🏻

Yes but with light lube similar to Krytox 205g0. The dielectric grease or thicker kinds are just for the wire only
