Thankx for the grrreat video! I grew up hunting morels in Missouri, and just starting to hunt in Oregon after 10 years on the wonderful Willamette! Love your video, nice tripod work, vibe....
Mahalo! Great video ev1. Halo cousin! Hearing your voice still tears😢me up a bit. Ik you are "yourself" so to speak, but my gawd do you sound like your father. And look like obviously.
If I have not mistaken, the ones they found are hardly premium. The premium ones are one s not open. Once open, their value plummets. The ones that have not open are very hard to find as they are below ground. Back in the 80s, it was not uncommon for mushroom hunters to arm themselves with pistols in the forest and folks have been killed fighting over them.
i like to go for mushroom hunting. my tips that do not use plastic back for mushroom. more details .. google it . tbh you guys have soo much fun. is great :)
You guys are making the common mistake of calling these mushrooms matsutake. They are not matsutake, they are pine mushrooms (Tricholoma magnivelare). Tricholoma matsutake are of the same genus, and have similar texture and flavor, but are much smaller and brown. I'm sure the Japanese regard pine mushrooms just as highly, given the price they're willing to pay for them.
The blind leading the blind here 😎😎🙄. Gills, not veins. Veil, not cape. They probably crushed plenty of the best unopened ones under nearby leaf litter. Clods have no knowledge and no sense for what they're doing. Why post this?
I don't usually comment and I know this vid is old but your enthusiasm and smile are totally infectious! I'm excited to find some this year :D
Nice one fellas. Brings back memories of my old picking days in the North.

Leaving a few behind to spore helps prevent anthropological resource depression

RUclips algoritm bring me here, 11 years ago.
Actually it's called a partial veil, not a cape. But awesome! I've been looking for some.
Holy crap! Where did you say you found those? Aren't those worth about $1000 per pound?
Haha, oh lord, how high were you guys in that first introduction part? LOL
How high, and how low can ya go...
why so much focus on money as a motivating factor. these mushrooms are mystical and delicious. worth way more than money
Mystical? Why mystical. Its a fungus. How do people decide that one thing is mystical and others are not. Are pine trees or BC firs mystical?
What part of the country are you guys in? Looks like you have the same kind I have near me...
this is awesome!!! i really want to try them soon!
I just wish that the camera man would go closer to the mushrooms.
how much u sell for number 1??
someone could recommend a good place to matsutake
it pains me to see any mushroom placed in a plastic bag. poor form
very good support fully you
Saying pine mushrooms aren't matsutake is like saying a pinot grigio isn't the same as a pinot gris.
You're a bad guesser...
yeah those are not jacks
