Not sure if u noticed but with the new Mac mini M1 midi network has worked super well via Ethernet cable only now. Its now more reliable with a better faster m1 sysytem. I don’t even have audio midi setup open anymore either. I can quit it and still works! Thank U Jesus!!
Do you have to click “connect” in Audio MIDI Setup each time you want to use this? I have dedicated computers that Restart nightly and it seems like they don’t auto re-connect. I’m thinking of making an automator script rub on a calendar event to reconnect them automatically...
QUESTION: What if we have a Windows computer running Ableton with iMac running ProPresenter. Will that work? Also is this possible via Prime Loops on an iPad sending midi to ProPresenter
We used to use this method (network MIDI over hardwired LAN) to send background change commands from our lighting software to Pro6. Basically, the lighting software would send a combination of MIDI notes to select a folder from the video/image bin, then select a background within that folder. It kept our wall-wash lighting and Pro6 backgrounds changing at the same time. But something changed with a MacOS update (all within Catalina) and the stability of the network MIDI setup on the Pro6 machine went out the window. It would work for a while, then randomly stop responding at all right in the middle of a service. So we had to stop relying on it and go back to manually coordinating the changes. We've since moved on to Pro7 and there have been numerous MacOS updates since then (still on Catalina). Any idea if the network MIDI glitch has been fixed in MacOS yet?
Does this work with loop community prime?

Nope, but cat6 may be faster, and if you do use internet as well cat6 will allow faster speeds. Cat6 may also be a little more future-proof

After bar 1024.1.1 the sync doesn’t work on the remote computer. Any advice or suggestions?

Im wondering the same thing. I cant find anywhere that says it. I just tried and it kinda worked but randomly DVS would unselect itself as the audio driver and the device I was controlling would freak out. Ive read some things about virtual lans within the network its self but its still super unclear and cant find any info online.
Thanks for this Jake. We used this to run our Christmas gathering last year and it went super well. We still use session view Sunday to Sunday but the arrangement view was definitely better for using Ableton to control other things via MIDI (we only used ProPresenter). We did use an ethernet hub and had our Ableton computer on stage but being controlled from the FOH as a backup since our Christmas setlist was extensive and didn't want to overhwhelm our all volunteer worship team (we are a small church plant). This works between a PC and iPad ?
I have this set up but the MIDI cues aren't triggering ProPresenter.. do I have to change the output in Ableton or configure anything specific within the IAC controller/MIDI studio first?
Yes, in the output routing of the midi clips track you must send it to the rtp midi session that you made in order for the second computer to receive the command.

Welcome. It’s pretty easy to get going. There should be some tutorials around on it.
Does It Works on Windows ?
lucas ribeiro there is no midi module for pro presenter on windows. You’ll have to either be using easyworship(subscription... no midi in full license) or proclaim on windows. And to setup the midi network you’ll download rtp midi which is the windows equivalent to the Mac midi setup. Rtp midi interface is basically indentical to the macs...
Proclaim is often seen as the best alternative to propresenter, or as Maurice said, easyworship subsription would also work.
