- Demonstration of the dance John of Dumbarton by dancers from the Lisbon-Lapa group. The dance is a 3x40 bar strathspey devised by Isabel Neves in memory of a good friend. The dance would normally be danced three times through, but here it is danced four times through, because the recording being used for the dance is the S4x40 strathspey set by Luke Brady's Scottish Country Dance band for the dance "Strathmore" on the CD "Take Your Partners For ... " Vol 1.
And a month later, still overjoyed.
The Lisbon-Lapa group has its own channel, which it is worth checking out. They have some great videos
Here's the link to the Lapa group's channel, in case you don't know it ruclips.net/channel/UCCwgAueld2N7v4TT9CAClvw
"Fair Helen" is another lovely strathspey performed by the Lapa group, and then they have a great, joyful video of "The Miller of Sessnie"
Their channel is called Lapa SCD
@@suewilldig1087 Greatly obliged for / by each of your three replies, Sue.
Love ❤️ it.
Indeed, lovely, isn't it? What I like about the dems by the Lisbon-Lapa group, is that they not only dance well, they dance with real feeling. And this dance is one full of feeling, because it is a tribute by Isabel Neves to a good friend. Isabel herself is not dancing here, but the Lapa group made the video especially for her.
@@suewilldig1087 "Real Feeling". You've hit the nail on the head, Sue, as far as I am concerned
And it comes through, even on the tiny screen of my smartphone.
