I love how the music was in sync with the game, like the backgrounds wiggling in beat with the music, and the beeping when you have low health. Never experienced that before.
Thomas Happ makes the whole game - okay - but why is the music one of the best soundtracks ever? Like let's say Thomas Happ was just the composer/sound engineer - he'd still get so much credit - but then he develops the whole game? The music has no business being this good.
@@EverettNewell exactly what I’m saying!! It blows my mind that one person was capable of executing at this level. Happ is clearly a special talent and I’m really happy his name is out there now
Trace rising is my favorite. That first boss fight was like crack. It harkened me back to the NES days, you had simple controls, one type of gun, and only skill keeping you from death.
I could see it happening. The ending could be taken as foreshadowing that we learn of why trace originally grew to genocidal tendancies and ultimately defeated Sudra. Would be fun to play the bad guy side of things for a change.
This game, soundtrack, style, story, gameplay and everything about it has no business being this amazing and awesome...and yet here we are. Yes, I have played through it a couple of times.
I always thought Inexorable was a cool shift from the rest of the music, like it's refreshing when you arrive in that brown tunnel after spending hours in other places. It's really different to the other OST in the game and that's why I like it- it's a breath of fresh air, no matter how intoxicating a breath it may be.
Geez. The intro track has a surprising amount of bass in it. I love it. I haven't played this game at all, having only watched playthroughs, but I really should pick it up. I'm looking forward to seeing a sequel in the future, even if it's another 5 years.
Apocalypse is freaking so epic, even though it reminds me of a Pokemon Legendary Theme (it would be perfect for Deoxys, though Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire did a good job on the new one). Anyway, it's fucking awesome. Other tracks are awesome too.
I've started to playing this game about 2 days ago; it impressed me in so many factors, i'm on hard and the bosses are really challenging, the first one i have zero deaths and i feel so compensated, god, it was THE fight; and afterwards i stepped on "inexorable" (24:22) and i "WTF THIS SONG AMAZEN". Great OST (i'm a big fan and researcher of soundtracks), great game, still have to finish it ♥
The Axiom works so well as a main theme for the game/series, especially around the latter half when it goes full psychedelic it gives me the sense of uncovering the truth to the structure of the universe (the Worldstream, the Breach, A'ansur) and being overwhelmed and barely able to comprehend it
cellular skies, dune original mixed with the sci fi 1, and 2 throughout, man tom happ made a soundtrack as incredible as the gameplay/visuals, just AWESOME
The vocals in 9/Apocalypse sound like "kuole kuole kuole" which means "die die die" in finnish :D That was very fitting to hear in a boss theme! Axiom Verge was such a good game :)
+Darth Bane I completely agree. In fact, the soundtrack MAKES the game. I likely wouldn't still be thinking about Axiom Verge if it wasn't for this spectacular soundtrack
Just saw the game in steam for sale. watched the gameplay trailer, heared the music... few minutes later: Game is installed (with OST package) and ready for play! Love dat Sound
Love every track except Inexorable, as it just gets grating after awhile, kinda ruined the area for me :(. Besides that it was absolutely amazing! I loved how everything in the world reacted to the music!
+Zach Hixson I hated Inexorable from the start , it sounds like a an oriental turkish music and I hate those .... so totally agree with you. I was thinking multiple times how can a briliant creator of this game think of great music and all of a suden blew it with that oriental turkish shit.
social experiments I replaced it with a remastered version of sector 2 soundtrack from metroid fusion as I felt it fit better. here's how: 1) Go to /content/audio/music (for most people this will be c:\program files\steam\common\axiom.verge) 2) all the soundtrack files are saved without extensions, so windows will say they are just "files" but in reality they are all saved as .ogg files (you need the ogg vorbis codec installed to use them) you can test this by copying a file to a new directory and adding ".ogg" to the end of it. 3) the song "Inexorable" is under the name "OuterBeyond5" after backing up the file, simply replace that file with whatever song you want that is saved as a ".ogg" and simply delete the .ogg from the end of the file name. also a good way to get the soundtrack for free, however I wouldn't recommend doing that as it's amazing and the guy deserves a little money for it.
+Zach Hixson Yes.... From a creative standpoint its not bad, but in executing it.. and you traverse back and forth between areas, this track is unrivaled for its ability to annoy and sound out of place. Soundtrack was incredible otherwise.... But that music.... it actually ruined much of the backtracking for me. Made it feel grating, like a chore. Like "oh god not this place again." Only while this track played did I feel that.
I love the OST to this game except for the boss battle music. Its kinda cheesy and doesn't fit the game like the other music in the game. Inexorable also gets grating after awhile but the rest is awesome.
