You must anchor the walkway to the pillars and abutments, otherwise the flood will carry it away. And that would be a pity after having done such a good job. Maybe you think that the flood would never reach that height?. Anyway, congratulations on your great work.

Very nicely done, it has been a long journey and looks like it culminated in a very functional, great looking ridge. I am most happy for you and may that new bridge serve you well in the coming years. You are quite an inspiration to anyone looking to take a large project on, thank you for sharing, really enjoyed the series on the bridge.

As I stated last video you need to connect the steel sections to the concrete by way of concrete screws after drilling into the concrete with concrete drill bits otherwise in a big flood you will lose the whole thing. Also I wish you would reconsider the height of the railing. It is way too low especially for an adult who would just fall over the railing easily. For a child or animal it is perfect height but not for an adult. Either recut the vertical steel sections again or weld an additional section on to each section that you have already. You might also reconsider strengthening the sections you have because they Flex an awful lot when you walk on them and that over time will start to break the welds loose.
When last suggestion. The area between the sections where you have cabled them together is a tripping hazard. I would cut wood to fit those sections and screw them down after securing the welded sections to the concrete base.
Hope you're able to get it all done and move on to something better. Look forward to your projects.

Had you put a curve in the sections that cross from pillar to pillar and secured each section to the pillars, the bounce would have been taken out, as the curves work as a natural shock absorber and the fixing of the beams to the pillars would stop them flexing,, even now this could be achieved and giving you a more rigid platform to walk over

  • @dgr8t1
    @dgr8t1 2 дня назад +38

As a bit of thought after watching your body weight makes each section sag quite a bit! You are very slim and fit! I think you need to put supports under the bridge @ a 45deg angle from concrete footer to middle of each section will better support the bridge and make it a bit more rigid- as it is now the weight sagging when you cross is a lot- if many are bringing loads with them it may not support extra load weight. You are an incredibly strong woman making others lives
better including yours ! Thank you for a view into your life! It’s amazing!!!

Took the words right out of my mouth. I noticed that when she was walking the steel forms to get across before even adding the floorboards. I was wondering if shr was going to put vertical grren bamboo poles as support with the usual cross beams for rigidity.

    • @teropiispala2576

The unsupported length is indeed too long for the steel to hold much weight. Bending forces ate too high when material is not thick in vertical direction.
There’s an alternative on putting supports on the middle, which is now quite problematic. The rail structure could be enforced to support the weight.
If there’s x-shaped cross support between each rail post and the rail itself can withstand compression and sideways boggling, the bridge could hold multiple times the weiegt it can do now.
X-sections would need to be connected from the middle and from each corner on the rail and the bridge structure.
By making the rail on steel, I think X-sections could be made from bamboo. They mostly experience pulling forces, and if there’s good enough method to make the joint, bamboo itself is strong enough.

As we know that the flex in the bridge is a major problem in her project the easiest way to strengthen it would be to put a piece of steel vertically down from the middle of each span run a wire from either end with turn buckles to adjust tension and it would be cheaper all round.

Reenforcement will be needed for spans as they are bending too much.Once you have done this hopefully bridge will last….time will tell. Those aluminium bridge sections needs to be strengthened to support more weight. Aluminium can fatigue and get weaker with time.
Easiest for you with abundant bamboo everywhere, is to support each bridge section with a bamboo /\ brace from the base of each concrete pillar up to the middle of each bridge section. Use four bamboo braces per bridge section. One bamboo brace per pillar straight up to the middle of each bridge section. Like this == (view from above) and this /\ (view from the side) for each bridge section. It will make the bridge much stronger.
    Fantastic project! 👍🙂

Not only are the metal beams that support the bridge way underdimensioned, also the railing is not more than a „decorative element“. The pilons are not sturdy enough and the handrail is mounted way too low to be any meaningful support. While it is impressive that she does all this by herself, it would have been more impressive if it were a solid and sturdy construction in a proper manner.

Me he quedado impresionada, pero no feliz. Not to be the turd in the punchbowl here, but I really hope no one gets hurt on this bridge. I'm no structural engineer, but I see piers that are only sitting on the surface, the spans are too long between the piers, there are no triangles to carry the loads of passengers and the handrails are too low and insubstantial. RUclips has created a culture of inspirational workers who garner attention with projects like this, but who have no structural building know-how.

Hello Dung. I am impressed by your resilience and determination. Your work is a masterpiece, but without a proper foundation for bridges over rivers, unfortunately it will not last long. Until the next rainy season, you still have time to think of a way to protect all your work. For example, you could place pillars at least 2 or 3 meters deep to reinforce each of these columns so that they can withstand the force of the current. Or you could also tie the columns to the trees on the riverbank with steel cables during the rainy season. Stay safe, stay awesome 👍

Why not weld the bars electrically, as they are stronger than screws?

That handrail is weaker than the water it sits over. Why you didn’t connect the rails together is beyond me. You do realize those would be a whole lot stronger if they were connected to make one long handrail. You could still attach them to something you put in between them and attach them to the bridge and each other. The way they are now is just loose and wonky. They aren’t bound together. Maybe a large round piece of bamboo attached to the bridge and the ends attached to the big piece of bamboo will make the handrail much more stronger AND it would look much much better, complete, done. Right now it’s not very good at all for nothing. Please fix the problem, you will be much happier and safer for it.

those of you that are telling her what a great job she's done, and commenting on her beauty need to be telling her how dangerous the structure she created is. it does not take an engineer to see how weak those spans are. it was doomed before she put the wood on, now with railings it is sagging. it is only going to take one dimple in those beams to accordion in on itself. people and animals will be hurt or killed. stop encouraging this disaster.

I wonder what the third iteration of the bridge will look like as this construction unfortunately won´t withstand a flood. A hanging bridge with steel cables anchored on high pillars on either end and maybe a deep anchored massive pillar in the middle of the river could be a way to go.
I´m sure there are engineers in Vietnam to consult?

The bamboo joints might be better not to make them parallel
