      @Invictus13666 Kennedy puts on his country hick act but he laid a great trap for Ms. Bondi by his ramblings which even she couldn't follow. Actually, it seemed Kennedy was making the point that the subpoenas to obtain the Senator's phone records (as part of a criminal investigation) must have been justified as the phone companies' legal counsels did not object to them, even though if they had been unjustified the phone companies and the companies failed to object they were risking being sued in civil court for violating the senator/customers; privacy rights. And in fact, the Senators phone records were evidently relevant as the Senators were WITNESSES to the fact that Trump was calling them to get them to overturn the results of the 2020 election in terms of not confirming the votes of the Electoral College. So Kennedy was making the opposite point of the conclusion you reached - the subpoenas were legally justified, as was the investigation they related to.

      @chinnychinchin89Not necessarily. Have you seen some of these people? Hirono is clueless about every issue. Warren is halfway clueless. Schiff isn’t taken seriously even by many in his party because he was disciplined by the House, when he was a member, for repeatedly lying to the American public about a major political issue. It was so bad his party only gave a token defense and many of his own party doesn’t have much to do with him. Booker stood on the Senate Floor talking about how you can drive a car from California to Hawaii.
      Then there’s the House. Boebert, MTG , AOC, Mace & Luna who are why, to quote Senator Kennedy regarding AOC, there are directions on a shampoo bottle.

      Everyone is missing the story here. DEMS did the digging that Kennedy is upset about. GOOGLE: Based on recent reports from October 2025, the FBI examined the phone metadata, or "tolling data," of eight sitting Republican senators in 2023 as part of its "Arctic Frost" investigation related to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The data did not include the content of the calls, but rather who was called, when, and for how long.
      The eight senators whose phone records were examined are:
      Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee)
      Lindsey Graham (South Carolina)
      Bill Hagerty (Tennessee)
      Josh Hawley (Missouri)
      Ron Johnson (Wisconsin)
      Cynthia Lummis (Wyoming)
      Dan Sullivan (Alaska)
      Tommy Tuberville (Alabama)
      Context of the investigation
      Source of the information: The FBI's action was made public through a one-page, unclassified FBI document that was released by Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) in early October 2025.

    • @aliceking5823
      @aliceking5823 5 months ago +15

      True, but the point Kennedy was making is that given the high profile nature of a sitting senator, one would assume if the subpoenas were unjustified the phone companies' attorneys would have filed objections as otherwise they would risk civil lawsuits for privacy violations that would cost their companies big money. Being high profile the subpoenas were probably not rubber stamped by those companies, but rather, reviewed by their legal counsel.

    • @malbug
      @malbug 5 months ago

      @recoveringtechbro then they can prove that the subpoenas were unjustified. Otherwise they need to stop with this nonsense.

    • @recoveringtechbro
      @recoveringtechbro 5 months ago +1

      @malbugand tell us what does an average working class citizen do in that situation? Because he is not a ‘sitting Senator’ he is just sitting in his couch. Sounds to me like that Kennedy painted a clear picture of a two tier justice system which we all know we live in otherwise many of these Senators and Bondi herself, Trump and many congressman would be in jail.

    • @malbug
      @malbug 5 months ago +2

      @recoveringtechbro I’m not sure what you meant then when you responded to a previous poster by saying they were false when they basically said that Kennedy was trying to show that the subpoenas were probably reviewed by the phone companies’ lawyers and deemed legit. Do wealthy people have the benefit of better legal counsel than poor people? Absolutely. But again the poster was trying to point out the legitimacy of the subpoenas. Which is a completely separate issue. At least that’s what I took away from it.

    • @aliceking5823
      @aliceking5823 5 months ago +1

      @christinamichael7544 Yes, that was the context, at minimum these Senators would have been witnesses (if not co-conspirators) if Trump was calling them to influence them not to ratify the Electoral College votes. But the bigger point Kennedy made so successfully was that the subpoenas must have been legit, otherwise the phone companies' attorneys would have filed objections (to avoid facing privacy lawsuits that would have been costly). If the subpoenas were legit, this underscores that the investigation itself was legit and not the "witch hunt" Trump perpetually claims. I'm not sure why Kennedy (as a Republican) has grown a back bone but I'm glad to see that being an attorney (as am I) he has some remnant of respect left for our legal system and its perversion under Bondi and Trump is a bridge too far even for him.

    Seriously? Kennedy was NOT grilling her of the DOJ seizure of senator’s phone records. That was done during the Biden administration and this was theater for him to show what was wrong with the seizure. I disagree with him on civil liability on the part of the phone company’s. If they receive a judicial order to turn over records, they are following the law. He seems to believe that a senator has rights above any other citizen and he makes that point several times. No one is above the law senator!

    • @aliceking5823

      I loved how Kennedy employed his country bumpkin schtick - she got lost in all his ramblings but being an attorney and no dummy he knew what he was doing and she got trapped like a fly stuck on fly paper. He made the point that the subpoenas must have been justified as the phone companies' attorneys did not object even knowing how high profile the customers (Senators) were and their companies would risk civil lawsuits for privacy violations for failing to object if they were not legit. As the subpoenas related to the investigation into Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election by persuading Senators not to confirm the Electoral College votes, Kennedy was in effect demonstrating that the investigation itself was legitimate and not a "witch hunt". That's surprising for a Republican, and I'm not sure of Kennedy's motives, but maybe he is afraid the politicized DOJ under Bondi could target even other Republicans who don't "kiss the (Trump) ring" and that's going too far for him.

    • @aliceking5823
      @aliceking5823 5 months ago +1

      I don't believe the point Kennedy was trying to make was whether the same standards for getting a subpoena apply to everyone. Actually, the bigger point Kennedy made so successfully (using his "country bumpkin" persona) was that the subpoenas must have been legit, otherwise the phone companies' attorneys would have filed objections (to avoid facing privacy lawsuits that would have been costly). As the phone company "customers" were high profile sitting Senators, the subpoenas would not have been rubber stamped by those companies and access to phone records readily turned over, but rather, given a careful legal review by those companies' attorneys as they were sure to attract public attention. It was surprising that Kennedy (being a Republican, albeit formerly a Democrat when holding elected office in Louisiana) was in effect supporting the position that the investigation into the Electoral College scheme was legitimate - not the "witch hunt" Trump perpetually claims. Perhaps being an attorney the blatant politicization of the DOJ under Trump/Bondi has gone too far even for him.

Schiff asked her relative to serious answers the Oversight Committee & the American people really want to know. The only thing transparent about Bondi is that she's a liar, incredibly biased & has no right to be representing the entire U.S. She's Trump's personal attorney & that's all she is.
