5 rockets and a crash is what was needed to defeat JB goddamn, he really took some notes from Scrapman's book of "How to outlive your enemies by being tanky" Still, the master of tankiness wins out, actually impressive work Scrapman
props to the editor this time around, when they were introducing their planes, the music changed appropriately, the little sound effects when important moments happen, and etc
I think a ship battle using turrets with the bomb-launching-mechanism as weapons would be very interesting, because of the ballistic trajectory of the projectiles
I really loved how creativley you painted your plane, Scrapman! I love how the end points look all heated up like you are going too fast, good job on that!
I know you guys have done it before, but it might be fun to revisit the BattleBots premise from a few years back (hard to believe the last one was already 2 years ago). I feel like there's a lot more potential for custom weapon mechanisms in Trailmakers now since the damage system was overhauled, it'd be really interesting to see how things like spinners, flippers, hammers, etc. actually perform
You guys should do Trailmakers workshop Olympics, where there are multiple different challenges and you get to pick among all your previous builds you have built saved in the blueprints.
Hi Scrapman, since you have made experiments both on throwing bombs and conservation of momentum on rockets, I wonder if you could make some kind of "rocket thrower" to increase the relative velocity of your rockets. If it works, this could prove a devastating asset in future rocket dogfights.
Would still like to see something based around the push-pull propeller conceit of the Dornier Do 335, probably better as a “this was built and actually flew!” episode than a multiplayer episode. Fascinating history to it and unconventional design from a seaplane / zeppelin designer who made the possibly fastest propeller fighter of WWII (which was too late to the war and still a prototype / trainer when Germany surrendered). Side note: winning by using the ground is valid and has been done in real life. It’s the arena known as “no room for error”. P-51 vs Fw-190, F-86 vs MiG-15 (many times), Israeli Mirage III vs Hawker Hunter, and Robin Olds’ F-4C (no gun) vs MiG-17 to name a few hair raising real life dogfights (which featured on the show “Dogfights” a decade ago).
I don't know how easy/doable it is but it'd be cool to see an input randomizer. Say every 30 seconds all your vehicles' inputs will be randomly be scrambled. It might need to be a mod cause I don't know if there's enough logic in the world to make that happen.
Logic gates can be assigned key inputs, though the only problem is theres not really a random number generator so you'd have to do something to make it random
TIPS FOR DOGFIGHTING (from a dude who plays war thunder): make sure you keep your speed, thats the most important thing. Don't try to keep turning and wasting energy trying getting your gun on your opponent, you will bleed too much speed and stall, and become a sitting duck for other ppl. If you feel like they are turning to tight for you, you can just keep going the way you were going, because you should have a lot more speed than someone in a turn. you can then climb, exchanging speed for altitude, and then you can wait for others to make their move and be vulnerable. dive, go in super fast for a couple shots, leaving the fight, and climb back up again. Its hard for someone to shoot you when you keep your speed or are way above them.
You have the best editor i have seen so far. Ive seen some good editors but yours is really good with his research and little information here amd there. Totally ups your game.
My daughter and I watched Yzuei perspective last night. Afterwards I was like "I want to see scrap man perspective" but it wasn't up. Then I wake up and BAM. Happy morning to me. Keep up the great videos.
I'm so glad you guys did this! I think I posted a comment about it on the single jumbo engine video but I don't remember, but I do know I was thinking about this because of the minigun recoil. Such a unique challenge lol.
I wanna see a can't slow down dogfighting challenge. Basically have a block limit w/out engines or guns, then add on like 4 dragon thrusters that are on a toggle and have to stay on the entire time. Then add your cycle of weapons and fight it out at max speed!
Slow moving plane battle, with detachable sections that have a altitude sensor and the gyroscopic thrusters, to maintain the altitude they were at when dropped, with sensors and a minugun turret on each one, and each person can release up two four of those, and no weapons on the planes themselves, see who can survive the longest, and you have to drop one of the floating turrets every 30 seconds, unless you don't have any left. Once everyone is downed or unable to fly, have a normal dogfight, in the area where the floating turrets have been deployed.
You can make the RAW jet into a pulse jet that has near constant thrust. Set the duration to 0.1 and a delay of 0.2. This would have been in the rules of the game but not the spirit.
How about a dog fight where you can choose between engines or weapons. Eg, everyone may have 4 engines and 1 weapon, or 3 engines and 2 weapons, or 2 engines and 3 weapons. You need to decide between building a tank or fast plane, with limited weapons, or a slow weak plane with lots of weapons. Another variation will be everyone starts with 4 engines and 3 weapons, but each round the winner must delete one weapon and engine. When someone has to delete their last weapon, they take first place, but must continue to "fight" until the next player also has to delete their last weapon (and takes second place). Each round continues until only one player is still flying, so you still have to shoot down those without any weapons.
Finally a raw jet engine video, I really like them but I think they deserve a good buff on their thrust to compensate for the weight and 3sec cool down
I think a good idea would be a dog fight without without using wings as a source of lift. aileron and elevators can be used to help with stability and steering but cannot be used to create any sort of lift or help get off the ground
Here's a thought. For future air battles, define a classification of planes. Normal fighters, and heavy fighters. A normal fighter is allowed 1 engine of choice, an arbitrary weight and/or block limit, and 1 gun. A heavy fighter is allowed 2 engines of choice, but must be a minimum weight and block count, chosen to limit maneuverability. For the disadvantage of being heavier, they're allowed to have redundant engines and a second gun. If 'normal' fighters are too weak, allow normal fighters to repair once mid-battle as well. And also probably make a rule that weapons may only be mounted forward facing. Speed and nimbleness versus durability and firepower, might spice up air battles a tiny bit. If you want multi-directional guns, may as well add a bomber class for the ultimate air battles.
I got this game a few days ago because of you and the first ever “plane” I made used these thrusters because I was limited by what I had in the campaign. To be honest though, I love it more than a normal plane 😂
I’d be interested to see them use their knowledge and experience in a no-holds-barred dogfight with no gimmick or limitations, using what they’ve learned over all these gimmick vids to create the ultimate plane
scrapman always tends toward a tank-style build. "how many times can I get hit and survive?" yeuzi really likes his speed "how few times can I get hit?" JB tends to come up with a ridiculous strategy and rely on surprise: "ha, betchu didn't see that coming!" idk, just my thoughts ig.
I would like to see scrapman remake his old all purpose vehicles again. I loved those old vids and think I would love seeing him do it again with all the new parts! Day one of asking scrapman to make a third all purpose vehicle video!
Imagine if TM had an assess damage feature, where you could bring in your creation after it’s destroyed without repairing it (if thats not already a thing)
This might sound like a dumb comment, but in these battles I would really like to see more creative gimmicks and abilities in these builds. Sure you can have the same old plane, car, or boat battle, but what if this car had a rotatable shield in the front that can also turn into a motorcycle? Or a plane with extendable prongs to gouge your opponents from the sky alongside hidden eject with just a propeller, a seat, and a gun? This all might sound stupid, but try being lenient and bending the rules a bit to make all these normal old battles a bit more SPICY!!
Please make challange where in order to fire weapons, your vehicle must be at a range of minimum and maximum speed limits in trail makers. The setup is use two speed sensors, one set to trigger above a set speed, and another set to trigger below a set speed, link them all to and gates with your gun fire button.
