  • Bruce Walker, 91, is the last surviving CIA case officer out of about 30 officers who trained the Tibetan fighters at Camp Hale.
    “I’m the last speaking CIA officer who can tell the story,” Walker told Radio Free Asia in an exclusive interview.

      Tibet was a feudal society when the Chinese took over - meaning it was a society with the one percent (religious and aristocrate elites) ruling over the others (all illiterate farmers who didnt have access to any kind of education as did their children, In modern Tibet the religious culture is still the same with the exception that its normal for the ninety nine percent to go to school (or unviversity) and climb up the ecnomical ladder.....

    CIA betrayed Tibetan Real warriors during that time.
    But Tibetan including few leaders cheering that and forgetting lost lives of unsung heroes who fought with Chinese military and for the individual’s family greed fulfilment with expecting Americana resettlement and dollar, shamefull act by those who attended the recent meetings.
    Very shameful ignoring Losted lives with hope of getting some dollars and recognition in US.
    Real heroes died in battle field and some fishy greedy wise and surviving and taking advantages with that name of honoured matryed heroes.
    Heroes dies and cowards lives in battle.

    Such active help to Tibetans could not have without help from India. India has contiguous border with Tibet. Many Indian private airlines were used for paradrop.

    RFA you have to get your facts right, only six people were parachuted into Tibet, they were not trained at Camp Hale. The people trained at Camp Hale joined the Indian army!

      It became free from the British. Now there are no more serfs there (slaves), literacy has risen from 5% to almost 100%. Life expectancy has doubled. Pretty happy people now they are reunited. Try do your own research away from bbc, cnn, etc.

      @@hongqi5734 Why don't the Chinese support freeing Tibet, Inner Mongolia and all of the other 55 minority, non-Han ethnic groups in China. Also, it doesn't look like the Han in China are doing well either. The only thing Xi and the CCP cares about is themselves. They just want to build the PLA to try to conquer the world. Thousands of Han are running the very dangerous route from China to cross the US Southern border. They have to cross the very dangerous Darien Gap to make it through Central America, through Mexico, to get here. They wouldn't be doing that if life was so great in China.

    US government and agencies should not involved in such operation . Tibetans elders were invited by Chairman Mao to Beijing and urged them to follow the new policy and they agreed to do so but the landowners especially Dalai Lama resisted the idea . He and his team fought but PLA overcame them and they fled to India . If China copy US action in USA itself then it would not be pleasant , right ? Stop nosing around other countries affairs is the best. Mind our own business .

    Wow Tibetan language is very similar to Indic languages, I know Kannada and we have the same alphabets from ro1 to ro4, so many alphabets are different but seems to phonetic

      some facts for yah, 7th century Tibetan King songsten gampo had sent ppl to India. That's where they picked up the brahmi and Pali language. Before that, history there was orally recorded.
      Tibetan is a sister-language to brahmi language....

      @AEBach I got time Karen, explain your motivation. I'm Buddhist maybe not a monk but I still believe in Buddhist principles. But please don't try to take the moral high ground in a situation like the occupation of Tibet. Especially calling out monk who are just resisting Chinese occupation.
