Clemson Auburn Alabama Ohio State TCU beats OU and OHio state beats Wisconsin. Not saying this will happen but if those events happen I see this happening
The Herd with Colin Cowherd ACC Champ SEC Champ BIG 10 Champ AND BAMA if WISC wins and OU loses OR USC if they win and both WISC and OU lose OR OSU with a victory (WISC LOSS) and OU loss
ggsnubs to be fair, Washington loses to a 7-5 Arizona State team, a 9-3 Stanford team, and USC gets blown out by Notre Dame and loses to a 9-3 Washington State team but while Auburn loses to a 8-4 LSU team and a 11-1 Clemson team and Alabama loses to a 10-2 Auburn who defeated 2 #1 ranked teams including Bama themselves... PAC 12 did not deserve to get in this year, even if USC, most likely the best PAC-12 team, already have gotten blown out by Notre Dame who gets beaten by Georgia and blown out by Miami.
Cheeky 4bantz He is the only analyst that is saying what most college fans see. SEC is being propped up for no reason. Outside of three teams their league is terrible.
Because when they had the BCS it was the same deal with people constantly complaining about the rankings, people were always saying that a computer couldn't accurately reflect who the best teams in the country were. Doesn't matter what system they use, people will always whine and moan about how terrible it is.
CJ543211 i think the BCS got it right 99% of the time. My biggest problem was that we only took the top 2 teams and would usually leave out 3-4 conferences out of the national championship picture.
You mean UCF but I see what your saying, it’s to prop up Alabama. Alabama best Fresno state so the committee ranked them to say “look Alabama did beat a ranked group of five team”
Be honest with yourself, if Wisconsin wasn’t named Wisconsin and they were named bama or auburn or clemson and they played down south, with their exact resume they would be #1 in the country for most of the season.
You know that's not true and theirs a lot of jealousy because the south is dominating the national championship. Most of the nation would rather see a West Coast team play a east coast or mid-west team for the championship. Too bad the South reins supreme in the college football world. Learn to live with it!
‘LSU lost to Troy early in the season when they weren’t playing as well’ “I don’t care they lost to Troy” ‘Okay LSU beat Auburn’ “Wellllll that was early in the year when auburn wasn’t playing as well.”
Joel, so you are saying an 8-4 team who beats a 11-1 team to become a champion should get in? NAH. I get it, I like the idea, but chaos CAN happen. Let's just go to 8, with 5 Power 5 conference champions and 3 at large bids.
MajinBuusha I agree. Remember in 2014 when Baylor and TCU didn't make the playoffs, even though the committee got it right with Ohio State in it because they won it all, but Florida State was an undefeated team who got blown out by Oregon, but TCU blew out Ole Miss in their bowl game while Baylor beat them in the regular season, therefore I'm with you for having a 8 team playoffs, but I'm ok with a 6 team with a bye week for the 1 and 2 seed.
I understand having 6, but there would still be too much argument. Just take the top 8 teams and put them in 7 game playoff style elimination. Have all of your big bowl names sponsor of each playoff game, and you still make a lot of money, and can still have NY6.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Klatt said that winning your conf. champ should be a pre -requisite to get in the playoff. Doesn't mean that a 8-4 team would get in the playoff but they would have met the pre req
If you can discredit LSU’s win when auburn wasn’t playing good... you can also discredit the lost to Troy when lsu didn’t show up. The argument becomes mute.
From the perspective of a Buckeye fan that has lived in Florida his entire life, Joe Klatt's take on the southern sports fans mentality is incredibly accurate. They feel as though they have to diminish the accomplishments of any other region because, and I quote, "they don't play anybody...." Well played Joe, well played....
Is that why FSU is 38-6-1 against the B1G? 3-0 over Ohio State. Oh! By the way the B1G and most mid-west teams would be playing Div.2 football if it wasn't for their southern football players. The North has a hugh co-dependency on southern football players
If you are not the best team in your conference, you should not be playing for the national championship. The game should be won on the field not in the polls. They should make the field 8. Take the 5 power conference champions. 2 mid major champions and 1 wild card team.
Well no they play at 10 pm at latest, many games are day games or 8 pm prime time games though. But even thats no excuse considering its not 1970, every game is easily found the day later and stats are easily available. If you are a Heisman voter pretty much your duty to educate yourself on the top candidates. If you dont vote for McCaf based on your opinion, fine, but this "game is too late for east coast voters" narrative is insane, bordering on stupid And ive lived east coast my whole life
The reason he didn’t win is because Derrick Henry had the single best rushing season in SEC history and literally CARRIED a team to a national championship.
Troy beat a crippled LSU team with suspensions and injuries ok got. LSU was down 20 against Auburn and came back and won and Auburn wasn’t playing well? If LSU played Troy again LSU would win by 20, if LSU played Mississippi State again they would win. Michigan can not beat LSU I️ really hope they play now
Klatt is the only person in the mainstream media who is giving Wisconsin due credit. 12-0. Don’t tell me they haven’t played anyone. They’ve beaten Northwestern, who’s ranked, and everyone seems to forget it. They beat Michigan. They beat an Iowa team that CRUSHED Ohio State. They had the best defense in college football. They deserve to be in if they win, and they deserved to be higher than 4th.
NoloTheRolo They deserve credit for being undefeated, yes. But they've played against four teams with a winning record. The other 8 wins have come against teams that are .500 or worse. They've had a very weak schedule.
Colin is looking for a new Fake ID in College Football. I have one for you: Alabama. Alabama hasn't played a non-conference road game since Saban's first year there. They play one "neutral site" game against a marquee opponent, then they dial up 1-800-CUPCAKE to fill their schedule. At least Oklahoma (who has feasted on some cupcakes this season) played a home-and-home with Ohio State.
For all of the Bama bandwagon fans out there, tell me this. If Ohio State beats Wisconsin on Saturday, the would have beaten 3 ranked teams in the top 16 ranked teams in the nation; compared to Bama. Strength of schedule matters, having wins over current ranked 4,9, and 16 and a conference championship is better than Bama wins against 17,23, and 25 and no championship. Final CFP 1. Oklahoma 2. Clemson 3. Auburn 4. Ohio State 5. Alabama 6. Wisconsin
Joshua Franklin but did OSU not lose by 31 to a bad Iowa team and lose handly at home to OU? Bama has 1 loss and they pass the eye test better because they have played consistent. OSU has played good football for a game and 2 quarters. The MSU game and the the 2nd half vs PSU
I live in Wisconsin. I'm a Michigan fan. I've watched Wisconsin at least a half dozen times this year. They do have a very good defense(obviously it's ranked number 1 statistically). However, they just haven't been tested by a complete team all year. Especially one that isn't in Madison. The best team they faced all year was my wolverines and lo and behold the game was in Madison. Let me tell you something; for about 3 quarters, a very young Michigan team had found answers against UW's defense like no other offense had the entire year. On the opposite side of the ball Michigan stymied UW's ground game during the same time period. The game changed when Michigan got a total bs defensive holding on a third down to give UW momentum and Hornibrook finally delivered a couple good passes to get them in the end zone. Next drive for Michigan, Peters gets hurt, air comes out from the wolverine sideline, we're too young and inexperienced to stop the bleeding. My point is this; Wisconsin will be facing a much older, much more experienced, talented bunch in Ohio State this weekend. If Ohio state gets them in the situations Michigan did, I'm afraid Ohio state will be too good to let up on the gas pedal. I will be very surprised if UW pulls this game out, much less look like the clearly dominant team. Hornibrook will throw 2 picks and Taylor is a fumbling machine. Not a good combo when you're about to face the all around best team on your schedule so far and guess what? It's not in Madison. 31-17 buckeyes.
Joel Klatt is so freaking salty. It’s ridiculous. Wisconsin is only number 4 because their schedule is so weak. Michigan would lose to LSU if they played next week. On that note, you bring up LSU losing to Troy, but then overlook their victory against Auburn because “Auburn wasn’t playing well.” Couldn’t you say the same thing about LSU losing to Troy? Speaking of which, you hold LSU’s 3 point loss to Troy as a disqualifier, but not Ohio St’s 30 point loss to Iowa. And the funny thing is I agree with his final assessment of the winners of the ACC, Big 10, Big 12 and SEC automatically getting in and Alabama getting left out, but the logic he used to get there is terrible.
Mike’s Music Reviews yeah that’s the same situation with clemson. Everyone is mad clemson is 1 because they lost by 3 to Syracuse and they had qb go down in 2nd quarter. They beat auburn also this year. Auburn is a 2 loss team. They are number 2. There is no reason for clemson not to be ahead
He claimed lowly Michigan was a top 7 team at the beginning of the season. Claimed Michigan would beat FSU in the Orange Bowl. Seems he was wrong both times.. Their not even ranked in the top 25. Klatt is prejudiced against southern teams because they have been so successful.
the AP poll ranked Fresno State before the committee did, so the idea that the committee all of a sudden likes Fresno State for no good reason just to help Bama doesn’t really stick.
the purpose of the playoff is to find the four best teams, which does not necessarily mean the most deserving teams. And in 2011, LSU and AL were by far the best two teams in the country. Any other matchup would have purposely left out a top 2 team just because they already played each other. If you are a top 4 team, you should be in the playoff no matter what other teams make up the rest of the top 4 whether you played any of them before or not.
That argument about LSU and Alabama a few years ago was bogus. Bama dominated in that title game. It was obvious that they were the better team in that game proving they should be there
Joel Klatt is absolutely right. The SEC plays one less conference game than any other conference and play cupcake teams late in the season when most conferences are playing against each other. Alabama has no place in the final 4, when they played one less conference game than everyone, and didn't even win their own division. Didn't the playoff committee make it a point, that a team should at least play for a conference championship? If Bama gets in and the playoff committee makes it a 2 team SEC final, that would be terrible and bad for TV ratings.
So, if Ohio State wins, we'll get a winner in this argument. If Colin's right, Wisconsin will drop to 5 or 6, and Ohio State either gets in or gets 5th. If Klatt's right, they'll drop Wisconsin to the 8-10 range in order to justify keeping Alabama ahead of them.
This system makes conference championships meaningless, why even have conferences in the first place? The teams should just play who they want if a conference title plays very little into this equation.
I've said it a hundred times. 8-team playoff. Power 5 conference champions are auto-includes. The three highest ranking teams that aren't P5 conference champions would be in. Makes winning your conference extremely important and still gives teams like Bama that are still top tier teams but have a single slip-up OR a dominant Group of 5 team like UCF a chance. Seeding would be based on ranking, then record, then SoS, so on and so forth. It's still imperfect but it's better than this.
Needs to be an 8 team playoff. The power 5 conference winners and three at-large teams. Four teams isn't any better than two. With how poorly the committee has handled it I'd argue to say it's been worse
Who is in your Final 4 for the CFB Playoffs?
The Herd with Colin Cowherd
1. Oklahoma
2. The Sooners
3. Baker Mayfield
4. U of O
Clemson
Auburn
Alabama
Ohio State

Joel Klatt has become the Chris Broussard of college football on this show. Everytime he comes on he delivers high quality content. Love Joel.
~ "A team that doesn't win their conference shouldn't be in the college football playoff" ~
Nick Saban
This year and a few years ago when Bama rematched LSU in the title game, they didn't win their own freaking division.
He never said that
Michael Hawkins he never said that. Kiffin was trolling.
*the PAC 12 beats each other*
Committee: “none of them can get in!”
*the SEC beats each other*
Committee: “they all have to get in!”
ggsnubs The best team in the Pac-12 lost by 35 to ND. I personally dont think they have a team thats good enough this year
ggsnubs to be fair, Washington loses to a 7-5 Arizona State team, a 9-3 Stanford team, and USC gets blown out by Notre Dame and loses to a 9-3 Washington State team but while Auburn loses to a 8-4 LSU team and a 11-1 Clemson team and Alabama loses to a 10-2 Auburn who defeated 2 #1 ranked teams including Bama themselves... PAC 12 did not deserve to get in this year, even if USC, most likely the best PAC-12 team, already have gotten blown out by Notre Dame who gets beaten by Georgia and blown out by Miami.
N8ve Jay yes but why are there middle of thr pack teams ranked so high..its bs
ggsnubs its a stretch to call Usc the best pac 12 team
N8ve Jay that lsu team is not that good. They're only ranked because the committee loves the south
Klatt speaks the truth
Cheeky 4bantz
He is the only analyst that is saying what most college fans see. SEC is being propped up for no reason. Outside of three teams their league is terrible.
Cheeky 4bantz does Joel Klatt have a podcast or something? I would like to listen to him more.
He does
Word. Derrick Henry needs to hand over his Heisman to McCaffrey!
Klatt pro competition. Colin pro brand. Nuff said
Why didn’t they keep the BCS and just expand it to a 4 team playoff. At least that system had objective rankings.
Cause it's not supposed to be about being objective, it's about making money.
Because when they had the BCS it was the same deal with people constantly complaining about the rankings, people were always saying that a computer couldn't accurately reflect who the best teams in the country were. Doesn't matter what system they use, people will always whine and moan about how terrible it is.

Right
omieg89 Texas or USC
should've faced Florida in 2008
how is usf not ranked and Fresno is ?? what lol
Preston Riedler UCF?
You mean UCF but I see what your saying, it’s to prop up Alabama. Alabama best Fresno state so the committee ranked them to say “look Alabama did beat a ranked group of five team”
no. Im talking about USF. UCF is ranked lol.
Preston Riedler you know why.to prop up bama.good post.
Ucf should be top 10 and usf top 15
Be honest with yourself, if Wisconsin wasn’t named Wisconsin and they were named bama or auburn or clemson and they played down south, with their exact resume they would be #1 in the country for most of the season.
If Joel Klatt is on im watching, he always has great insight and doesn't need to be all loud and crazy to get his point across
yea lookin at you Stephan A. Smith
Michael Patten i used to like First Take when it was Stepeh A and Skip, but he got way too annoying always yelling
Agreed. You should see First Take episode with Kevin Hart who calls him out on it. It's pretty funny. Not sure which episode it is tho.
Alabama could be 3-9 and they’d still be in the top 5
cacable7 I love this comment. Gave me a chuckle.
Somebody mad
You know that's not true and theirs a lot of jealousy because the south is dominating the national championship. Airport Runway play somebody. SECis only great to people who live in SEC. Rest of us know your not. Mercer?
They have and won national championships doing it.
‘LSU lost to Troy early in the season when they weren’t playing as well’
“I don’t care they lost to Troy”
‘Okay LSU beat Auburn’
“Wellllll that was early in the year when auburn wasn’t playing as well.”
Matrix Drift 😂heard that
And the most ironic thing? LSU beat Auburn AFTER losing to Troy.
Joel, so you are saying an 8-4 team who beats a 11-1 team to become a champion should get in? NAH. I get it, I like the idea, but chaos CAN happen. Let's just go to 8, with 5 Power 5 conference champions and 3 at large bids.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Klatt said that winning your conf. champ should be a pre -requisite to get in the playoff. Doesn't mean that a 8-4 team would get in the playoff but they would have met the pre req
Fan of Joel, didn’t like when he was bashing ND, but he’s come around and he makes good points
KOBEBEANBRYANT 24 I love him and his bashing of ND #Facts
He made great points about ND you're just too biased to see it. #facts
Zachary Amundson cool
Dakota Holliday he still turned it around about ND after the Michigan State game that he called
KOBEBEANBRYANT 24 When he’s criticizing, he’s just being honest. Joel Klatt is a solid guy. If ND was doing good or bad, he’ll tell you.
If you can discredit LSU’s win when auburn wasn’t playing good... you can also discredit the lost to Troy when lsu didn’t show up.
The argument becomes mute.
HAHA! LSU vs Michigan...we need to make this happen now to show Joel Klatt is smoking dope!!
Craig Mann they'll probably get Michigan State and will destroy them mf's just like every other SEC team they have faced recently lol
"There are only two things I love, ice cream and my children.. And also my wife"
From the perspective of a Buckeye fan that has lived in Florida his entire life, Joe Klatt's take on the southern sports fans mentality is incredibly accurate. He was a prophet before his time. Everything Joel said about the committee was spot on
Joel Klatt is definitely right about the committee being bias for the SEC
If Wisconsin wins. They should go in as #1.
PETER JEONG I think you have a good point.
PETER JEONG doesn't make sense to do that. They're still not going to have a hugely quality win
I love listening to these two guys
Joel Klatt slaying Coling so hard it's not even a discussion it's an execution. :))
An excellent episode. I love these meaningful arguments and counter-arguments. They are informing.
Joel and Colin is BY FAR the best discussion-duo in all of American Sports. Damn they're great!
Mccaffery didnt get the votes of southern Heisman voters because Stanford plays at 1AM on the East coast
Well no they play at 10 pm at latest, many games are day games or 8 pm prime time games though. But even thats no excuse considering its not 1970, every game is easily found the day later and stats are easily available. If you are a Heisman voter pretty much your duty to educate yourself on the top candidates. If you dont vote for McCaf based on your opinion, fine, but this "game is too late for east coast voters" narrative is insane, bordering on stupid
And ive lived east coast my whole life
well said
There is no reason mccafrey should not have won that award last year he was haw dropping week after week.
The reason he didn’t win is because Derrick Henry had the single best rushing season in SEC history and literally CARRIED a team to a national championship.
Braxx 👉🏾 DVR
Troy beat a crippled LSU team with suspensions and injuries ok got. LSU was down 20 against Auburn and came back and won and Auburn wasn’t playing well? If LSU played Troy again LSU would win by 20, if LSU played Mississippi State again they would win. Michigan can not beat LSU I️ really hope they play now
Joel Klatt is the man
This has to be the friendliest, most “bro-love” argument I’ve ever listened to. I was dying listening to this 😂😂😂
Klatt is the only person in the mainstream media who is giving Wisconsin due credit. 12-0. Don’t tell me they haven’t played anyone. They’ve beaten Northwestern, who’s ranked, and everyone seems to forget it. They beat Michigan. They beat an Iowa team that CRUSHED Ohio State. They had the best defense in college football. " this a prerequisite you cant go to algebra 2 until you pass algebra 1 !" Joel with the great comedy
Klatt just crushes it this segment. (“Terrible analogy btw” lol)
As long as E-SEC-PN is involved...
The fake ID of college football that's won 4 national titles in the last 10 years? Okay buddy....
We played in happy valley in 2011
Yep. That is the only non-conference road game Bama has played in the Saban era, and that was ALREADY SCHEDULED WHEN HE TOOK OVER.
Alabama won the national Championship in 2015
For all of the Bama bandwagon fans out there, tell me this.

Getting Molly wopped by Iowa is a death nail. #Gobucks!!!
I️ don’t usually agree with Joel but he’s right about Mississippi State still being ranked to help alabama
I agree with Joel Klatt for the most part despite his refusal to believe in Clemson at all
Joel Platt needs his own show like yesterday
This guy every week during the rankings comes in an talks madness.
Love watching these two. Joel is $ on this!
Could you imagine a sports show with Joel Klatt and Chris Broussard
Shannon Sharpe has Joel Klatt saying invitational now. The Alabama Invitational 😂😂😂😂
This guy is always on point. Joel Klatt is one of the best analyst in the country

Didn't he claim crummy Michigan should be pre season #7? What a fool.
I'm in the West Coast and I love me some Alabama, that hot Southern football in the Summer.
Joel Klatt is the gospel

Mike’s Music Reviews PREACH BROTHER
this
Mike’s Music Reviews yeah that’s the same situation with clemson. Everyone is mad clemson is 1 because they lost by 3 to Syracuse and they had qb go down in 2nd quarter. They beat auburn also this year. Auburn is a 2 loss team. They are number 2. There is no reason for clemson not to be ahead
Mike’s Music Reviews well Troy is an FCS team so...
svrmanrawnxt Troy is apart of a group of 5 conference so they are fbs and have a better record then Iowa *cough* *cough* Klatt
I believe in expressing oneself in order to not explode.
Homie is gold... Love it, 100 right on..
Would be nice if the cfb commission implemented a wild card game between the #4 and #5 teams.
I love Joel Klatt for actually arguing against Colin and speaking the truth
LSU beat auburn and Syracuse that beat Clemson so stop downplaying LSU ranking
Jamal Cheneau the lost to troy really hurt them honestly
Klatt is a legend
Joel is so so so right! 🙌🏾✊🏾
Joel Klatt's bias against the SEC is stronger than the CFP rankers bias for the SEC lol
Joel Klatt was taking some shots at us southerners lol
lets get joel klatt here tomorrow, so he can debate michigan vs penn state with colin.
The system is geared so the same teams make it every year and because of that the best players gravitate to those teams so it will never change
A few weeks ago Klatt said Auburn was only ranked high to make Alabama look better...
He claimed lowly Michigan was a top 7 team at the beginning of the season. Claimed Michigan would beat FSU in the Orange Bowl. Seems he was wrong both times.. Their not even ranked in the top 25. Klatt is prejudiced against southern teams because they have been so successful.
JOEL!!
joel is the man!!
Alabama not getting in the playoff would be kinda weird. They practically live in the CFB Playoff. But....first time for everything...
I️ totally agree that in order to be in the playoff you have to have won your conference championship.
Joel klatt is a damn genius
8 team playoff. 5 conference champs, best group of 5 team and 2 wildcard spots.
Joel Klatt always speaking the truth.
Klatt is the man!
Joel Klatt and Chris Broussard should have a show
Love Joe Klatt! Calling it like it is!
Couldn't agree more with the Christian mcafery thing
Ohio against the world again... let’s go beat Wisconsin and win the B1G title game then see what happens.
Go Milwaukee Bucks.
Wisconsin against the world
the AP poll ranked Fresno State before the committee did, so the idea that the committee all of a sudden likes Fresno State for no good reason just to help Bama doesn’t really stick.
Joel Klatt is approaching Chris Broussard status!!!
Im a simple man... I see Joel Klatt I click
Can we please put klatt in the college football committee he seems like he is the only person that knows how to pick the playoff
the purpose of the playoff is to find the four best teams, which does not necessarily mean the most deserving teams. And in 2011, LSU and AL were by far the best two teams in the country. Any other matchup would have purposely left out a top 2 team just because they already played each other. Committe picks the best four teams and have been spot on in doing so
That argument about LSU and Alabama a few years ago was bogus. Bama dominated in that title game. It was obvious that they were the better team in that game proving they should be there
It's simple I see joel klatt and I click.
Joel that argument about Alabama’s schedule is subjective
I don't know what Penn State is, but numbers seemed to make Penn State at the level of New York.
What's with the SEC playing less conference games? Damn sense of entitlement.
If Bama gets in and the playoff committee makes it a 2 team SEC final, that would be terrible and bad for TV ratings.
reg4321 the sec actually play in conference games late in the season what are talking about?
I am with you that bama shouldn’t get in
You mean like Alabama playing Mercer? LOL
SEC teams at times schedule cupcake teams late in the season.
I think we should extend the playoff to the top six teams
College playoffs need to be like the NFL system. 12 teams same format.
Can we get a show with Joel Klatt and Chris Broussard
Klatt knows whats up
I love Joel, but Ohio State over Alabama is a little bit of a reach
It’s good to be an alabama fan✌️
Seth Martin Bandwagon**
lol nope
The committee made it very clear that tcu and osu no matter what happens isn't going to the playoffs
This system makes conference championships meaningless, why even have conferences in the first place? The teams should just play who they want if a conference title plays very little into this equation.
It could be really simple!
And more games and all conference camps are in.
If you want in win your conference plan and simple!
Is that why Teo didn't win Heisman? Over a freshman from an sec team who's best plays were throwing up the ball and praying.
PLOT TWIST!!! Oklahoma loses to TCU and Wisconsin loses to OSU, Alabama and OSU both get in
TCU would get in with a win over a team that beat OSU.Common opponent plus OU is ranked higher than Wisconsin.
Cabbage man they're too far down to get in
So you think Oklahoma would still get in even if they lose because they already beat Ohio on the road.
At this point Wisconsin could win the national championship and people would still be like “well they had a weak schedule”...oh really ...
Needs to be an 8 team playoff. The power 5 conference winners and three at-large teams. Four teams isn't any better than two. With how poorly the committee has handled it I'd argue to say it's been worse
This dude is ridiculous... I️ hate Bama but god dang bro. Colin’s right in this one
