    That one handed match light was epic!

      In my mind, the match started burning while breaking, and throwing the match box together with the broken burning match tip, and starting a violent fire 🙃

    Nice video. I love a good wood burning fireplace. A lot of people like gas, but I prefer the bit of work it takes to tend a fire and the crackles and smells.

    • @thechuckyboi1438

      Yeah doesn’t compare IMO. The crackling and flickering is what I like about wood, sad part is my new place doesn’t have a fireplace

    is it OK to partially close the flue after all the initial smoke clears, but you still have an active flame going?

    • @thechuckyboi1438
      @thechuckyboi1438  Год назад +2

      Good question, I’d say the biggest health and safety concern is the smoke coming into the house so if you think that you can close the flue and still allow all the smoke to escape then I don’t see why that would be an issue

    Do you know rather or not to close the golden mesh part? I know keep the glass doors open, but do you close the wired curtain part to keep stuff out or keep it completely open, when fire is going?

    • @thechuckyboi1438
      @thechuckyboi1438  25 дней назад

      Id recommend to close it. It is meant to prevent anything from rolling out of the fire while the wood is burning, it can also help keep hot embers from floating out.

    There’s a snowstorm coming and I am a female how do I cut the wood smaller like what do I use

    • @thechuckyboi1438
      @thechuckyboi1438  29 дней назад

      you can buy a small axe but that can be dangerous if you do not know how to use it properly. Other options are a saw, or just go take a walk around some trees and pick up all the sticks and fallen twigs you can. just make sure to use them sparingly. if all else fails grocery stores most likely sell fire starters in the outdoor or grilling section. They may release unfavorable scents but they will burn off.

      I buy a box of duraflame logs at Costco. Then I got a resipakel saw there cheap and saw the duraflame log into 4 pieces keeping the paper with the pieces. That's only if you want to start a fire daily and want to make it super easy to start. Light the dura flame log then lay wood logs on top.

    • @alisonstewart9089

    Now…how do you stop the fire lol. Before I get started

    • @thechuckyboi1438
      @thechuckyboi1438  12 дней назад

      Good question, if you need it out immediately then water or fire extinguisher are best to keep nearby. If you just want to put it out to leave the house and have some time then you want to spread out the heat. Push the main burning logs against the sides and back of the fire place. This allows the heat to escape without causing a flame. Will take up to a couple of hours to completely go out but the flames should die quickly.

    I never knew about the smoke thing

    • @thechuckyboi1438
      @thechuckyboi1438  3 месяца назад

      I’m happy you learned something! Yes the smoke is a sign that there is heat below that point and the easiest path for that heat to escape is where the smoke is coming from. So as long as you build your fire in a way that will increase the heat then the flames will take the same path as the smoke before it.

    • @thechuckyboi1438
      @thechuckyboi1438  Месяц назад +2

      Haha, I purchased regular bundlels of cheap firewood and then used an axe to chop them into smaller and smaller pieces. You can also buy firestarters at home supply stores and just use those to light larger logs. If all else fails then go for a walk and bring a shopping bag!
