@@Chiefrocka.All you can do is play safe and try to punish mistakes. you should be able to survive. In the scenario of a massive jungle dif you are indeed fucked. Cus the enemy jungler can gank you under the turret.
It's what makes ranged top so bad overall because they can't all in like a top laner can. A patient top laner will almost always wreck an ADC top. It just takes patience and endurance. Rarely do i lose top vs an ADC. Just gotta be smart and patient and then all in like he said.

In the comic, it shows how they first met and yadayada, there wasnt much but its a good start goddamn it

I use Garen mostly as a turret buster, if I know that my team is losing a clash I always find the opening to push to the enemy nexus while they are distracted.
This is why I love playing top. I had a game where we were losing very badly. I noticed my team trying to fight for elder. I simply pushed top lane to their nexus, and by the time they backported, I already destroyed their nexus.
same, I always have triforce and youmuu as my core items for a mobile turret buster garen. The sheen proc and movement speed enables you to switch lanes, quickly get a tower, and escape ambushes

I hate having a vayne pick into my garen top. I rarely lose, but it sucks so bad until level 5 or first recall. She can't kill you without diving and you can't touch her because she just shoots you away until deadplate. Just annoying more than anything.

I always destroy vayne top as nasus. I use the same strategy you explained except that as nasus I do it in all matches before lvl 7
