I love my solar atomic G-Shock, but there is an intangible romanticism of a mechanical watch that needs you to give it the energy to keep its hairspring beating. It’s a symbiotic relationship of human and wearable machine. A mechanical watch needs you, a solar atomic watch doesn’t.
I want to buy a simple mechanical clock somewhere so that I can look at the gears sometimes, but I cannot find a decent one. Can anyone tell me where to buy?
Great video as usual, Greg! I would like to add the prehistory to the 400 years of modern horological history you mentioned - i.e. the timekeeping mechanisms of the ancient world, e.g. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antikythera_mechanism by the Ancient Greek; There is a fascinating faithful contemporary reconstruction of it done over at ruclips.net/user/Clickspring
You have quickly become a channel where I look forward to new videos. Off topic, but I know you love Casios and I'm currently obsessed with the A700 series. It's only 6mm thick! I got the cheap one for about $25 and love it so much I got 2 more, the gold and silver models with the mesh straps. Check them out, I bet you'll dig them.

I ADORE my automatic watches, most expensive is $700, but my favourite, and most accurate is my Seiko SARB017 Alpinist, just under $500 with $160 Strapcode bracelet.
Nice kit clock and all clocks
