Yeah the rollout into the new trade dress has definitely been a bit spotty. Not every new product has gotten it, though most of the new machines have. Plus, Cat said that they were aiming to have the new trade dress applied to the whole product line by “early 2020”. Guess we’ll see, but that’s starting to look unrealistic.
I run that exact machine but with a 60 inch diamond disc mulch head. My only real issue with the machine is we keep blowing o rings on one hydrolic hose under the cab. Seems like it'll do it once a week
The cab is not sealed has Cat claims. I have one of these and we have to clean fine debris out of the cab all the time. At 1800 hours as all skid steers get rid of it, they will start giving trouble !!
I thought there was some kind of law against using an already registered name. There is already an Equipment world in Sault Saint Marie Ontario. It gets a bit confusing when someone wants to search for a resource on line and there are 2 companies using the same name don't you think?
Still no mention of the new Stucchi couplers. Not even Cat has mentioned this. It's the only improvement over a D2 Land Management machine for guys running mulchers. Please tell me they're compatible with the VEP's everyone has already upgraded to. Are they on the regular XE model?
Kyle, according to Kevin Coleman, the product expert for these machines at Cat, yes, the screw-to-connect Stucchi couplers are standard equipment on the 299D3 XE Land Management machine. He says, "The couplers used on the 299D3 XE Land Management machine are similar to the VEP series but have an additional locking collar feature to insure a secure connection with the mulcher in challenging land management applications."
@@EquipmentWorld I have an older 289d with HM315C mulcher. its it just a matter of changing couplers to suit 299d3Xe? I think the hoses are 3/4in already
Having used & enjoyed the CAT 299D w/ forestry mulcher head, I don't see the diff to justify the likely higher price other than the two external fuel tanks. But sure would like to try using it so I could evaluate it better. BTW, what's the MSRP for this beast?
@@hangover123111 Hey Francisco, if you went through with your package, any negatives you have since running it? Wish they had a door on the mulcher, n hydraulic push bar. I know these other machines were burning up out in the field working. Does it still fill the cab n engine with 2ft of dirt every day? Had 2 guys tell me that, but that was last years model. I like the fuel tank n hydraulics cooler but can't see any forestry safety guards. Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you might want to give out. Thanks Ty Clark
@@hangover123111 Hey bro, that's beyond asinine n ignorance on their part Francisco. I am just wondering if it was just that specific sales guy you had asked? California needs to buy like 50 thousand of these and get rid of all the dry fuel. Need to start fighting fire like we're fighting a war.
Exactly!!
I would love one. One problem no money
Just npticed that the mulcher head still has the old trade dress on it, nice one Caterpillar

There’s only is really small handful of land clearing machines I might need to go try this machine out
I have two I still need a dust mask not clean inside a all. And overheat all the time.
Two John Deers or Kubotas? My CAT is very clean inside. About 1600 hours on it.

Cat definitely didn’t come up with that head setup, thank Cimaf for that

Great question Kyle. We’ve reached out to Cat and will let you know when we have an answer on this. Thanks for watching and for weighing in.
