But I don’t believe the show should be held accountable, especially since it was created to draw attention to the difficulties of growing up in such a harsh world and the complications of depression. 13 reasons why will forever mean a lot to me. Sure, it liked to shatter my heart time and time again, but it really opened up my perspective on life and how to go about it. As a teenage girl who watched the show for the first time, I felt seen through the different characters, I felt most connected to Hannah Baker. I was suicidal just like her, counting off reasons to go, having more of those than to stay. and being unaware of how special i was to others. I fought with my friends, they said harsh things and did things, they made mistakes and so did i, just how the show portrayed Hannah and the rest of the people in her life. She didn’t know how special she was to people, and neither did I. But thanks to the show, I know how affective a decision like that can be, how it will change others. I watched through every episode, every situation that would likely start a difficult conversation to have, every moment where I felt just as alone as Hannah, and got to learn from it. I understand now that my reasons to stay, no matter how small the number is, is still a reason to stay. I was told to avoid watching the show because of the content it shared and how it went about it, but I am so glad I let my curiosity get the best of me. There isn’t any other show, movie, series that I’ve watched that has been so comforting and understanding in so many different aspects. This show did so much for such an insecure, lonely, mentally ill teenage girl and Im sure it did just as much for others around the world. Why does sad music comfort me?
people like to blame 13 reasons why for the suicides of teenagers who happened to watch the show. But I don’t believe the show should be held accountable, especially since it was created to draw attention to the difficulties of growing up in such a harsh world and the complications of depression. 13 reasons why will forever mean a lot to me. Sure, it liked to shatter my heart time and time again, but it really opened up my perspective on life and how to go about it. As a teenage girl who watched the show for the first time, I felt seen through the different characters, I felt most connected to Hannah Baker. I was suicidal just like her, counting off reasons to go, having more of those than to stay. and being unaware of how special i was to others. I fought with my friends, they said harsh things and did things, they made mistakes and so did i, just how the show portrayed Hannah and the rest of the people in her life. She didn’t know how special she was to people, and neither did I. But thanks to the show, I know how affective a decision like that can be, how it will change others. I watched through every episode, every situation that would likely start a difficult conversation to have, every moment where I felt just as alone as Hannah, and got to learn from it. I understand now that my reasons to stay, no matter how small the number is, is still a reason to stay.
I was told to avoid watching the show because of the content it shared and how it went about it, but I am so glad I let my curiosity get the best of me. There isn’t any other show, movie, series that I’ve watched that has been so comforting and understanding in so many different aspects. This show did so much for such an insecure, lonely, mentally ill teenage girl and Im sure it did just as much for others around the world.

This song always reminds me of my guinea pig monty. After we had to put him to sleep this song was on in the car and I'll never forget how i was crying so much in my life. It was one of the hardest day of my life. Miss you everyday monty 💔
