  • It's one year since Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited the Interchange station site in Solihull to announce the formal start of construction on the London-Birmingham phase of HS2.
Work has continued throughout the Covid pandemic and over 20,000 jobs are now supported by the low carbon, high capacity HS2 programme, with many thousands more supported through the supply chain.
In the past twelve months, HS2 has launched its first two giant Tunnel Boring Machines, received planning approvals for the new state-of-the-art stations at, Interchange in Solihull, Curzon Street in Birmingham, and Old Oak Common in North London - where construction has also commenced, and won emphatic approval from Parliament to begin extending the route to Crewe.
