My god, the textures are incredible, the reflections are incredible, the movement of the light is amazing, the lip synching is amazing. It looks so damn freaking real.
I have watched this twice, once about a year and a half ago and again just now. This cutscene movie is by far one of my favorites. One of the best plots with the best twists I've seen in a game. Heard the gameplay itself was a bit repetitive, but this right here is gold.
This was such a good story. I think the central theme is one we can all relate to; as most of us feel, on some level, that we are mere playthings in the grand scheme of the universe(and whatever Gods may exist). Despite this unfairness, Marius does his duty as a Legionnaire...and as a believer in Rome's ideal.
Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus 15 December 37 - 9 June 68 AD) was the last Roman emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. He was adopted by his great-uncle Claudius and became Claudius' heir and successor. Like Claudius, Nero became emperor with the consent of the Praetorian Guard. Nero's mother, Agrippina the Younger, was likely implicated in Claudius' death and Nero's nomination as emperor. She dominated Nero's early life and decisions until he cast her off. Five years into his reign, he had her murdered.
For a roman soldier to move about with that much mobility, speed and strength he must have: A) Incredible amounts of strength, endurance and with lots of padding to cushion the himself from his own armor moving so violently. B) His armor is leather If that's not bad enough, picture this. 1) 10:15 Sword of Damocles actually comes from the ruler Dionysius who was being annoyed by Damocles because of his power and wealth. Dionysius switched positions with Damocles to teach him a lesson by holding a sword with a single piece of thread above the throne to show him that even with much wealth and power, you face incredible amounts of danger. The sword of Damocles is frequently used in allusion to this tale, epitomizing the imminent and ever-present peril of people in power. 2) 19:02 That is a FORTUNE in iron just from the chains, not only that, but those towers would most likely be unable to even hold something so massively heavy off the ground without huge counterweights AND not to mention the ships rowing into them. A smarter investment would be to use the iron to suit up all the barbarians with better armor and perhaps more siege equipment. 3)27:10 "Hey, there are archers blocking our path, instead of forming a roman testudo formation, which pretty much negates light missile attacks, go in alone, fight the band of barbarians yourself (which will alert them of your presence anyway) and clear a path for your entire battalion! 4)31:07 Ummm...formation anyone? 5)38:50 Yes stop your men in the middle of a rickety ass bridge while you look in a forest which is clearly a very sketchy situation. 6)40:13 You would most likely suffer severe injuries leading to your death. 7)55:00 The "Go, no you go" scene 8)1:30:40 Now where the FUCK did she find an elephant? 9)1:41:00 Yea there is NO way you would even survive a stab like that. 10)1:41:19 Its the "My shield is nothing but a counterweight" technique! How effective!
About #8, during the Punic Wars, the Carthaginians armies which crossed the Alps brought war elephants with them. In the Second Punic War, Hasdrubal brought elephants from Hispania. Lots of them.
I don't think they intended for it to be. I didn't say the story was spectacular I just didn't think it was bad, but the masturbation inducing graphics may have me hypnotized. Though I was disappointed they didn't put Nero in drag I think that would have completed it lol

Im genuinely impressed, i clicked on the vid to have a quick look at the game and ended up watching the entire thing lol. The facial modelling on the yellowy goddess woman is very, very good, as are most of the graphics, although we are starting to enter uncanny valley and the occasional dodgy animation or movement really stands out as the rest is so bloody good. I like the way the rain trickles down the camera lens at points, the water and wave effects in the shipwreck scene, the way structures disintegrate and debris is thrown around, and the fire and lighting/particle effects. Theres a really nice focus pulling effect as well. Yes the story takes liberty's with history, but its set in an alternate timeline/history type thing so it doesnt matter. And fuck me those Scottish tribesmen were scary buggers, imagine being captured by mr cowhead and his minions /shudders.
shedboy4lyf Aye, very true. They probably would have if the empire hadn't crumbled though, they were persistent buggers. Im reminded of the story of a seige the romans undertook (masada maybe?) where the besieged commander boasted they had enough supplies in the fortress to sustain the battle for 10 years. "We shall take it in the 11th year then" was the romans response. And they bloody did.
Skrotetor 40 pound armor at the most, and this man is a conditioned soldier. He could probably swim through fucking rapids in much heavier armor than that. Just take a look at modern marines, who, even with 120 lbs of gear can swim through rivers.
LostRequiem777 I hope you know that the training process was a lot different back during Roman times, bud. Roman soldiers were not taught how to tread water and how to swim with their gear on. Plus, swimming with our modern gear and wearing roman armor (lorica segmata, bracers, tunic, sword on belt) is a much different weight balance. Also, there are countless stories of soldiers falling into bodies of water and drowning due to the weight of their gear. Especially when there was no water training for said military. Please spare us the conditioned soldier crap. Conditioned soldiers are not gods. They can tire like any other man, they sink like any other man, and they die like any other man.
This really is Fantasy Swordplay at its finest. Great job guys. Still spellbinding now. Overlooked treasure on the Xbox One for sure. Short but sweet gamed always get several play-throughs!
Greek civilize Roman? HA Mate Romans actually are said to Be the Troyans. who Under command of Aeneas Left the Troy after its destruction. Rome didn't need to be civilized by anyone. But your very comment is full of hate towards Rome and Greek arrogance.
G3orgianSoldier What you are describing is the Aeneid, an epic poem comissioned by the roman emperor August in order to golrify Rome. Its just a work of fiction dessigned as a fundational myth. The true romans may not have been civilized by the greek, but they were havily influenced by them and may have never progressed to be the rome empire if it wasnt because of greek influence. I love rome and the rome empire, and i wish there were more good games abaut them (unlike many new ones, such as rome 2), but i also like to recognize true history.
Mate Troy was Considered a fiction too. Until they discovered it. Troy's Legend might have a lot of lies within. But there always is bound to be truth in it too. Let me remind you that Historians weren't common thing back than and most of the history was remembered as sayings by people. It was already filled with lies Author simply added some more details to make Poem Beautiful. You have all rights to judge Historical accuracy but you can't just say it's BS. And About "TRUE" history Mate if you remove all lies from history than there might be nothing left of it. SO try not to use term TRUE history again. You are just going to be laughed at.Rome might have been influenced by Greeks at the start, but they quickly made Civilization and army A LOT different from Greeks. We can't say that about thy Latin neighbour who later were conquered. And than same thing went for MIGHTY GREEKS Who under the Command of Alexander the Great conquered Asia 'till India. 90% of things Rome has ever done ended with word Vici
You said my point yourself. The whole story abaut Troy was already a common story when Homer wrote the Iliad, he just took the sayings and wrote them in paber. The Aeneid was directly created by Vigil, the whole thing is fake and is intended as a propaganda work, to glorify the emperors as direct descendants of the founders. Remember this whole poem was written years after the fall of the Republic, the emperor needed something to legitimize him. Moving forward, even if the poem was faker, true or watherver, there is no point in arguing if the greek influenced the romans, because at the end of the day (as you said it) the romans fairly surpassed the greek, except in terms of culture, but the greeks were already falling apart when the empire conquered them. Also, i think we dont have to antagonize the greeks and the romans, their legacy runs deep within western society and their values mark our roots. In another topic, if even roman gratness fell, how many time do we really have? Makes me wonder sometimes..
Wow. Thanks for putting the storyline all together in one movie. Had so much fun watching this. Oh and by the way, whoever was playing behind the Xbox, your hard work and efforts did not go unnoticed. ❤️
Xecutionner2K That would be awesome enough. Imagine Latin phrases becoming internet memes! LOL (and I don't mean this sarcastically, as much as it sounds, it would be really awesome)
And for the extra touch, classical latin. The one with the pronounciation even modern latin scholars find weird. ex. Julius Caesar was "Yoolius Kaisar" Cicero was "Kikero"
I remember playing this, despite all the bad reviews.. LEvel design was a bit clunky and weird, but ultimately, I loved the story, the cutscene, and gameplay had charm, I don't understand why people hated it.
@@Swiss_Cynic You can have subjective and objective reviews of the game, because people are often brainlets, they take someone elses subjective opinion as their own. Also, grüezi. ;)
Its been a long time since i last played this, but the line “never rush the world with your sword drawn, always come first with an open hand” has been my life philosophy and has worked well when applied, be happy to meet new people, one day they may hurt you. That day you draw your sword and do battle
+Gen Scinmore When we talk about it in the Roman Empire, it is generally meant to be the one in Egypt. But yeah good joke there, about 50 fucking alexandrias all over the place like crazy
In the modern military perhaps your gear is designed to have a degree of bouyancy. If you were wearing a suit of iron like Marius, you would sink. Many soldiers in the normandy landing drowned after they fell into the water because they couldnt get thier gear off
I've seen a royal marine training video where guys jump in a swimming pool with a bunch of gear on and have to get it off. The guys jump in and sink right to the bottom of the pool
This one video made me subscribe. Your videos are much more continuous than others, with a bit of gameplay added, which I haven't seen anywhere. Most of the others, just cut the gameplay, without showing the methods incorporated to progress, which takes away all the fun. Nice going man.
Why do the Roman soldiers have to suck so badly in this game? They are all shown dying in almost every cut scene when you are fighting for Rome. However, as soon as you try to kill Nero, they turn into actual soldiers and are harder to defeat.
David Watt The Roman soldiers defending Emperor Nero are the elite. They're the best of the best. The ones fighting barbarians are still glorious fighters but not on the same level.

Damn... why did Vitallion have to die? :(
Delta40 fuck I guess it’s my fault but I wasn’t done with the video so I was reading comments and that just spoiled it.
Because that bitch Boudicca was allowed to reach Rome.
I would love see them do Ancient Egyptian game like this of War Pharaoh Tuthmose III he had like Thutmose III made 16 raids in 20 years. He was an active expansionist ruler, sometimes called Egypt's greatest conqueror or "the Napoleon of Egypt." He is recorded to have captured 350 cities during his rule and conquered much of the Near East from the Euphrates to Nubia during seventeen known military campaigns
there is AC origins
Yuwan ; AC origins only covers Cleopatra VIII tho
Damn, I can't believe I watched the whole thing. I was hooked from beginning to end. I thought I would only watch a couple of minutes of it then found myself intrigued by the story, animation and graphics. Sort of reminded me of Gladiator with a Game of Thrones twist. The way actors were rendered along with every thing else looked amazing. Loved every minute of it. Too bad it got negative reviews in the game play department. That is the only thing keeping me from buying this since I've already seen the best parts. Hopefully they make a sequel that improves on it's shortcomings.
Прям как мысли прочитал=)
That is exactly what happened to me.
Dallas Walker I agree
the gameplay wasn't that bad, as long we didn't play the game too often. too bad you missed 8 years to get the game.
I lost all respect for Boudica when she killed Vitallion.
Same.
Marius definitely should have smashed before Commodus killed her dad
thanks for the spoiler alert
He was an enemy to her, pure and simple
I never had any to begin with
This game came out in 2013 and still looks and plays better than most modern games.
Vitallion was seriously the man...
R.I.P. Commander Vitallion, you were the best ;(
Really? Did u really have to spoil? I wanted to check some random custcenes, not all. U are bitch...
spoiler alert
VarDen Clips the video clearly says "ALL CUT SCENES" your the female dog for not being able to read.
VarDen Clips Then you're the bitch for reading the comment section, idiot.
samturrett is that not what a comment section is for dumb ass to be read and answered. not only can you not read but your incompetent as well. just another youtuber looking to give someone a hard time for nothing.
Quarantine feels!
I love Ancient Rome so much that they gave me a perfect game of blood, but I feel bad for Marius coz he died 😢 Well done, dear creators
He died but atleast he is in Esylum, saved rome, and finally reunites with his family
I never played the game but the story looks fucking awesome.
"Rome will endure until the last days of men"
Yeah, surrreeee.
it's still here and the seat of one of the largest organizations, the Catholic Church, in the world, isn't it? Not an Empire, but still powerful.
Well, when they say Rome. I was thinking about the Empire itself eh? But I see what you're getting at.
***** Catholic Church is a product of Byzantine Empire.
Nic Clone Pretty sure there was just one Christianity until the 10th century, right?
Nic Clone Which grew from Roman lineage, so...
24:35 York was called Eburacum at this time
Also "King Oswald" is inaccurate it is an Anglo-Saxon Germanic name Britain was Celtic speaking in this period. Bouddicas wifes husband was king Prasutagus.
***** it means to get fun while playin and gets educated at the same time.
+Talen The Krogan Yes, that's the point.

Nowadays video games..
Unlike yesterday games :D
Atari? Nintendo ? Or sega? Remember all of them hahaha...
would have been more epic if they had spoken in classical latin lol
True
Tbf, if they'd released that as like an alternative language pack with subtitles, I would play the game all over again
Ryse 2: Son of Byzantium

Ryse 2: Son of Sparta
This is good. I like this.

@Jack the Gestapo
It won't change facts
You either choose byzantine or the crusade
Marius reminds me SO MUCH of Maximus from Gladiator.
I. AM. DAMOCLES!
I. AM. VENGEANCE!
YOU. ARE. NEXT!!!
Favorite cutscene by far 20:04 - 20:25. That's good acting and leadership of his legionnaires
Pretty fucking epic, thank you for uploading this.
I can't wait until we get the games that are GOOD with this amount of attention to detail!
This one did not age so well. Also holy shit 8 years ago???

Democles: is about to kill Commodus
Commodus: I'm gonna put some dirt in your eye
Fuck, a decade later and this game still looks better than most games coming out now, even AAA.
The voice acting and story are on point.
Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus
15 December 37 - 9 June 68 AD) was the last Roman emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
For a roman soldier to move about with that much mobility, speed and strength he must have:
A) Incredible amounts of strength, endurance and with lots of padding to cushion the himself from his own armor moving so violently.
B) His armor is leather
If that's not bad enough, picture this.
7)55:00 The "Go, no you go" scene
8)1:30:40 Now where the FUCK did she find an elephant?
9)1:41:00 Yea there is NO way you would even survive a stab like that.
10)1:41:19 Its the "My shield is nothing but a counterweight" technique! How effective!
About #8, during the Punic Wars, the Carthaginians armies which crossed the Alps brought war elephants with them. In the Second Punic War, Hasdrubal brought elephants from Hispania. Lots of them.
1:34:30 When I played, I genuinely thought Marius might kill him. That goes to show the quality of acting
I keep returning to this page every year.
this game is the perfection...
Watch Dogs has dropped! Check out the sick story here! Watch Dogs Story (Game Movie) All Cutscenes 1080p
That game is fuckin ass. Waste of money and fuckin eyesight.
ThePresentation010 so much truth
One of the first games released for the Xbox One, and it's turning seven in 2020.
When I was watching this. For several times I forgot that this is a game, and thought I was watching a movie.
"I am Damocles. I am vengeance. You! Are! Next!"
Best lines in the entire game
That ending is one of the most badass endings to a Videogame ever, just the pan out of his Monument with amazing Music, gotta love it.
Holy crap! Sometimes it looks just like a movie!
with me the same and its beautifull to , isn't?
julien de vriese graphics has gone so far! Story, on the other hand... Less much so.
Feem Her The story was pretty good I thought
***** I guess I'm just stupid
I don't think they intended for it to be. I didn't say the story was spectacular I just didn't think it was bad, but the masturbation inducing graphics may have me hypnotized. Though I was disappointed they didn't put Nero in drag I think that would have completed it lol
We have this game movie in 4K resoultion now. It's much better quality. Check it out here if you were planning on watching this video! ruclips.net/video/wIx46dKCRlw/видео.html&lc=z13shrfi4yicybwnb22psz0bemrvslfay04

Man, the graphics are incredible!
I like this as a movie more so than a game, i just pretend its one of those really good CGI straight to dvd movie releases and instant classic for me.
I still love this game. We need more games like this.
I love how the mission says "avenge your family" even though you are actually totally destroying nero and the antigods
And fuck me those Scottish tribesmen were scary buggers, imagine being captured by mr cowhead and his minions /shudders.
say what you want about us but the romans couldn't conquer us :D
shedboy4lyf Aye, very true.
And they bloody did.
meetoo594 Rome defeated itself, no power in the world could fully destroy it.
The boob shake effect was poorly done. lol
Thank you for doing this, loved the movie. I am huge fan of this era, and I loved it. Even with the historical inaccuracies, I loved it.
This guy's dad died the same day he met his dad after being a soldier. Respect. 👊🏻
16:17 So a man with 60lbs of metal on his shoulder can easily swim in THAT water. Da FAQ crucify the screenwriters.
ahahahahha
+Douglas Johannsen are you applying nowadays capabilities and technology to the past? Clearly you think real life is a Hollywood movie
A lorica segmentata would top off around 33 lbs (16 kilos)
WE WANT MORE GAMES ABOUT ROME!
Not all of us are bent over backwards about Rome. I'd rather see games about the Greeks, who civilized the Romans.
1:49:52 "he must die by his own hand." *gets impaled by a statue of him holding a giant knife* oh I get it!
Wow. Thanks for putting the storyline all together in one movie. Had so much fun watching this. Oh and by the way, whoever was playing behind the Xbox, your hard work and efforts did not go unnoticed. ❤️
This game would have been much, much more badass if the voice acting was in Latin.
Latin with english subtitle. What do you think??? Would have loved that really.
Xecutionner2K That would be awesome enough. Imagine Latin phrases becoming internet memes! LOL (and I don't mean this sarcastically, as much as it sounds, it would be really awesome)
And for the extra touch, classical latin. The one with the pronounciation even modern latin scholars find weird.
ex. Julius Caesar was "Yoolius Kaisar"
Cicero was "Kikero"
Latin is a dead language, not many people find it interesting anymore
Biggus Dikus
That legionnaire at 1:31:42 though.
which one ?
The one that tanked a freaking catapult.
Hatyara
Ben Fugaro-Thompson
Awesome cinematics! Thank you for sharing this. Much better than most real life crappy movies.
1:08:57 that's. how the statue cried blood at the beginning he switched the heads
Now I understand the quote: "rise up, son of rome"
Must say you did a great job, cutting the gameplay at the exact right moments, keep up the good work!
This game doesn't get enough credit not many games have story telling as good as this
I remember playing this, despite all the bad reviews.. LEvel design was a bit clunky and weird, but ultimately, I loved the story, the cutscene, and gameplay had charm, I don't understand why people hated it.
I mean if you wanna know the reasons you should read the reviews.
@@Swiss_Cynic You can have subjective and objective reviews of the game, because people are often brainlets, they take someone elses subjective opinion as their own. Also, grüezi. ;)
@@seba11321 Sali :)
Well, i think all opinion is subjective. Its hard to claim objectivity in personal taste.
Its been a long time since i last played this, but the line “never rush the world with your sword drawn, always come first with an open hand” has been my life philosophy and has worked well when applied, be happy to meet new people, one day they may hurt you. That day you draw your sword and do battle
after watching 300, this is a good game to play inspired
Alexandria lol WHICH ONE?! XDDD
+Gen Scinmore When we talk about it in the Roman Empire, it is generally meant to be the one in Egypt.
But yeah good joke there, about 50 fucking alexandrias all over the place like crazy
+Gen Scinmore Right?! xD
+TheGreatBonus
There was even one named after Alexander´s fucking horse!
Great story. I loved the historical accuracy and the drama.
I find it hilarious how he can swim with all that armour on. He would sink right to the bottom
*****
you seem so sure despite you are wrong
well you saw someone with full armor, helmet, sword and shin protectors to swim in deep waters without go to bottom after 2min....hmmm
You ever see them go swimming in it?
If this game was placed in feudal japan would it be called "Rice, son of Tokyo?"
Edo not Tokyo, I think, my Japanese history is a little rusty.
Surely is better then mine. But how was my joke on "Rice" instead of "Ryse"!?
I did not see that XD
And wouldn't it be Ryce?
Yeeeeah but Rice is more effective imo!
Well it is Crytek so any "I", must be replaced with a Y. :-P
This one video made me subscribe. Your videos are much more continuous than others, with a bit of gameplay added, which I haven't seen anywhere. Most of the others, just cut the gameplay, without showing the methods incorporated to progress, which takes away all the fun. Nice going man.
Gladiator the videogame.
Why do the Roman soldiers have to suck so badly in this game? They are all shown dying in almost every cut scene when you are fighting for Rome. However, as soon as you try to kill Nero, they turn into actual soldiers and are harder to defeat.
Well those soldiers are praetorians, and most of the cutscenes involve ambushes so yeah the roman soldiers really do suck.
David Watt No Idea... I bet Romans back then were stronger and didn't die... as much.
David Watt The Roman soldiers defending Emperor Nero are the elite. They're the best of the best. The ones fighting barbarians are still glorious fighters but not on the same level.
Another excellent video. Great editing. Thank you
I liked the game in general and it's story line
I didnt know the scottish wore wildebeast helmets and spoke orc
They also rode elephants into battle... and Galba, the next emperor of Rome, had a long and peaceful reign.
MilleniumHare Yes we did ride war elephants into battle!
Check out everything wrong with Ryse on Gaming SIns! He does a great job with these videos Ryse: Son of Rome PC Game Movie (All Cutscenes) 1080p HD
