Misty (Erroll Garner) Jazz Standard with a crunchy Fender Stratocaster 1962

- My gear is a 1962 Fender Stratocaster, a Boss RC-2 Looper and a Engl Sovereign 100 210 Vintage amp, where use only the 2nd channel. Overdrive intensity is controlled with the volume pot of the guitar.
Strings: D´Addario 010-052
One mic is in front of the Engl amp, the 2nd two meters away. Both mics going in a Yamaha mixer (pan extreme left and right, Reverb comes also from the Yamaha) and then headphone out in my cheap Kodak camera.

When jazz, blues and rock sit at table to talk about beautiful things... Love it
Thank you so much!
Kind regards, Matthias
Confirmed what I figured already , no one needs a particular model or type of guitar to play Jazz
Matt Kenyon when you have a strat.
When you have skills
Playing jazz on v
you nailed it...you can play awesome country-rock licks on a les paul, nice and mellow jazz lines on a tele or a funky riff on a gretsch.....it all depends on your feeling and your skills......i came to write about this and i saw your comment, first comment.....you nailed it.....
@@mytelecasterworld3336 tele neck pickup is quite suitable for jazz actually
1:37-1:38
Made me fall off my chair, its so on the edge yet perfect and it just pierces through my soul...Very well played...
1:51- 1:55 This clean
I never get tired of hearing this tune, especially the way Mattias plays it. Wow!!!
Great!
I've watched many of your videos and you're clearly someone who's dedicated years and years to disciplined practice. The way you move around the fretboard like walking around your own house and even do fancy effects with your hands is remarkable. And you even play Misty - one of my favorites! Keep making beautiful music, sir. Count me a fan.
I am extremely pleased! Thanks very much!
@@mattguitarwater You're very welcome! And excellent choice of guitar - the Fender Strat.
Is yours an original 60s - like it appears?
Let's be honest. This is not the first time you're here enjoying this God blessed beautiful jazzy tone
Thank you so much, Lucas!
Rarely heard someone play with so much emotion. Very well done!
Thank you so much!
Matt , No doubt about it That Stratocaster obeys all your commands ! Great rendition of one of my favorite tunes ! I've been looking into Seymour Duncan Pups trying to get a better Jazz tone from my Mexican Strat but after listening to you it's changing my mind ! Thanks for sharing
oh,, man, this has to be the best version ever of misty played on guitar.....
Wiw!
Thank you so much!!!
Kind regards, Matt
@@mattguitarwater THIS started me down the path to focusing on improving my Jazz guitar - I can listen to this all day! Check out my simple version :) soundcloud.com/al-carvalho/misty-fun
It's been said b4, I'm just repeating; Great tone starts with the player. You're killing dude.
Thank you so much!
The way he plays is awesome, I really love this song played by him.
This is the right way to play guitar and share vibes, amazing vibes, with the whole world. Amazing, boy! Stunning! and too good! Well done!!!
Thank you so much!!!
sounds amazing, you really squueeeeezzeedd the notes out of that strat. Felt like the guitar was singing to me more than anything else.
I love it when jazz and rock meet each other!
Normally don’t comment, just want to give props to this beast of player. Great Tune and guitar choice.
Thank you so much for your comment and watching my video! Kind regards, Matthias
Absolutely amazing your playing is flawless. This is one of my favourite jazz standards to play, it was also the first one I learnt!
Thank you so much Paco!!!
amazing sound! You made a Stratocaster's squealing strident voice to sing really clean, deep and sweet, it's amazing what one can do when uses imagination, lets the soul fly free and really isn't afraid experiments, thanks for this video man, it helped me a lot. Cheers and succes in everything you do!
Absolutely great playing and feel, particularly the chording and phrasing.

I'ts not just that it's good, is sweet and relaxing at the same time, this music is very good.
I honestly can't believe there's this many dislikes and negative comments. This is so fucking brilliant it gives me goosebumps every time. I bow to you sir.
Thank you so much!
Man, I really DIG this rendition. As someone else pointed out, it's almost JOYFUL...which is a feat, as lyrically it's a melancholy, introspective song. Just wonderful playing and improvisation! Something to aspire to. I've watched a few of your videos and I love how you very much have your own voice, with dramatic slides and note flourishes that one doesn't hear often in jazz guitar...and yet, they really seem to fit your renditions nicely. Keep it up! That sound is the MOST, dad! You've got big ears for jazz!
Thank you so much!!!
This is too beautiful for words.
Wow, thank you so much!
I can’t stop watching this. This is heavenly
Wow, thank you so much Billy!
Seriously good!!! Sounds like Sunday morning coffee 👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Haha this is sick! I love the combination of styles, genre bending madness! Love it!!!!
Great!
Good god, everybody is a music critic now? Great rendition man. And from a Strat. Really awesome. Remember when your mom said "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"?
Hi Dave, thank you so much! Kind regards, Matt
I loved your version. I guess everybody has the right to like a version or not, but you made it yours, and that´s saying plenty. That´s a lovely Strat, too. In my opinion, you made both the guitar and the piece justice with your take on it.
Man, this it real Jazz.. :) Congrats, you are true Jazzman now :) and nobody can take that away from you ;)
Thanks a lot!
Mathias you are a great player. i m learning with your videos. that 62 strat is out of this world my friend. Sorry for my english
Thank you so much!
Melting my heart
Great!
Nice! And a nice, relaxed picking hand that I'm slowly getting the hang of myself. Moving the hand up and down depending on the string played like you're doing is essential.
Thank you Mats!

you should be in the top of the best guitarists in the world. I am impressed with your videos, please tell me you need to do to play like yourself? few hours practice? and how old is from when he started to play? routines that do? where study or self-taught learned? congratulations
