For this, hydraulic design is required for the system, which is presented in Lecture # 21 on Aspen HYSYS, and Lecture # 55 on Aspen Plus.

@@aspenchemchannel sir I did one and it worked. So I used the Elec Wizard and method ENRTL-RK to design the CO2 desorption system. The reboiler duty is around 6.13-13 kW and I set my reflux ratio to somewhere 0.5-0.8. Then to reverse the reaction and recover MEA, I had a flask to act as a condenser and reduce the temp at the vapor outlet of the desorber (rad frac, 2 stages). The recycle has a purge like 0.02 and then add a makeup for MEA solution. Also to mention I have a 0.3wt% solution of MEA. Thanks for the video again sir, it gave me an idea where to start!

    • @aspenchemchannel

Adsorption is not possible in Aspen Hysys. The phenomena of adsorption can only be depicted by using component splitter, a short cut method.

Yes, it can be upscaled, because it's a shortcut design. The separation is achieved because of input in the shortcut column. I hope that addresses your query.
