A great choice on your part which triggers fond memories for me. At school disco's in the 1970's this was my favourite "slow dance" song. An opportunity for my hormanal self to get close to my dance partner. A similar classic from that time was "I'm not in love" by 10cc - a beautiful but sad denial of love. You might like it too...
The Rolling Stones were doing a departure in this song from their normal kind of music. (But departing like this wasn’t unusual for them.). Their ‘normal’ kind of music was hard, straight ahead, blues-based, rock. If they have a signature song in their vast catalog of hits, I’d say it’s “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” By the way the piano on this tune of “Angie” is by the extraordinary and talented British session pianist Nicky Hopkins. Nicky never joined a band for long due to his poor health, he especially wasn’t well enough for a touring life. But he worked with the Stones, the Kinks, the Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, and Harry Nilsson.
This song annoyed me when I was a kid because all I heard was my name over and over 🙄😄 But in time, as I listened to it, it really grew on me. It's a very beautiful song. It's also so personal that i think it has to be about someone, just not someone named Angie. You mentioned you've heard a few Rolling Stones songs, so you've probably heard Gimme Shelter, which is their best, imo, and worth a listen. You've probably heard at least parts of it simply through cultural osmosis, along with Sympathy For the Devil and You Can't Always Get What You Want, which I'd also recommend. Add to that Paint It Black, Wild Horses, She's a Rainbow, Waiting On a Friend, She's So Cold. This is also a decent sample of their sounds over the years. ✌🏽🤘🏽🖖🏽
I think you feel this because these scenes are universal.❤

Great reaction
Angie is one of my favorite Stones’ song.
It's great when you find new art, and even better when it finds you.

@@angelagraves865 It’s a beautiful name and a beautiful song! I could imagine how annoying it was growing up 😂
I think the real Angie was Rod Stewart’s girlfriend.
