That Case your holding is the best deer gutting/ processing knife I've ever used. Holds very good edge

Its too bad there really isn't a lot of videos on this knife. I have this one and another Case fixed blade hunter. I also have a lot of Case folders. There is a philosophy difference between Case and Buck. Both are great knives. I love my Buck 110. But when it comes to cutting and normal use the Case knives get used. They cut and cut and cut and resharpen very easily. It's cool to see it splitting a log but I would clean a fish or a pig or a hare or make a meal with this knife before I used it for starting a fire. Its a very versatile knife for knife work. And other commenters are right processing animals are its best function. Thin blade, you can work in and out of tight cuts. Bone out hind quarters and split through joints that are bent. Right on... Thanks for the video.

Easy to sharpen? I’m thinking on buying one but stainless steel scares me on sharpening, I’ve always used blue carbon. Please tell me your opinion

@@lumpylumpy3931 it's a soft steel. 420 or 440a something like that. I've always found a low grit stone. Silica carbide or something. Then after the edge is back you can use a good steel. But honestly a good steel will probably keep you going on this knife for a while.

I own many EDC, fixed and tactical… there’s something about this little guy I like… haven’t figured it out yet. It’s well made… I own lots of case knives, but wanted a new one so I picked this one up. I don’t hunt anymore and it’ll probably cut my limes for cocktails while in the RV or have it with me as a secondary backup while hiking. Case still makes a stellar product. Lots of overseas JUNK… your vid was very nicely done. I would never baton wood with this knife… but, good example. I use an axe. Thanks and hope to see more.

Great review. I have been thinking about buying this knife and its smaller companion blade for a friend of mine but I don't have any experience with Case fixed blades. I'm surprised honestly how well it did at bushcraft tasks when it is definitely tailored to more of a hunting blade but you proved that if needed it can be relied upon in the woods if need be with a little common sense. Thanks again for using it!👍

for $159.99 I bought a buck 105 Pathfinder Pro - blade made from S-35VN and its my super strength hunting light weight super steel for survival purposes, thats why I bought this Case 5 inch hunter as an around the house weekend camp- cook knife that is super easy to sharpen and very similar in design to the 105 buck. I love the stacked leather handle and if you use bees wax it becomes very grippy. I almost bought the regular Buck 105 for $10 less than the case but I really wanted a stacked leather handle. No regrets on either purchase. I think the (king of trollz) is full of something that smells bad. this Case as you showed us can even withstand batoning without incident. this knife has a nice flex that when put into a sideways pressure like when separating leg joints on deer and wild boars. So compared to my Essee 6, Becker BK2 and Helle Temagami 14C28N by Les Stroud this Case 5 inch hunter seems a little less robust. But this is the reason that when out in the woods most of us carry multiple knives and a hatchet for their unique purposes.

Had a Western knife that was very similar to this knife - size, stacked leather, fuller, clip point, but carbon steel with brass guard. One of the most useful knives I've ever owned. My only knock on it is that the handle is just a bit small, not sure if the Case is the same or not. I'd take the 119 if I could only have one or the other. Fortunately it hasn't been a choice I've had to make. Thanks for the video. I'll look into that Reddit group.

To me, a knife like this, or its proper buck comparison the 105, is a real all around hunting knife. Good for processing game, cleaning fish, preparing meals. Not really for wood work, got a hatchet and a large folding knife for that. But for fish, game, and meal prep, cant be beat.

You are completely right my goal in this was to show that even though it is a hunting/skinning knife, it could still be used in stand up to more brutal tasks, just as a toughness and quality display as well as a hey, you could use this in an emergency display

Poorly done. I have this knife several years. It is not tactical, not survival, not camping, not Bushcraft. This is a deer Hunters knife! It is perfectly suited to field dressing a deer. Yes it can do other things, but they are secondary. It is a Deer hunters knife Period.

Did pretty well with bushcraft, so I’d say it’s a pretty decent bushcraft knife if you choose to/need to use it for such tasks. Also the video is well done you just don’t like the content or method of review.
Thanks for the comment, it’s great to have someone who’s used it for deer to backup that this knife is good for hunting AND does well with bushcraft. A great knife! I’m surprised you don’t like a video that praises it in every way, especially for things that are harder on it than skinning and field dressing.

@@RubleInnawoods I guess your intentions were to test for Bushcraft. Your review made it seem like you didn’t understand what knife was really for? You thought the blade was too narrow & compared it to the monster Buck knife. That’s apples & oranges. There are so many better choices for Bushcraft. You should’ve included it’s a perfect knife for field dressing. I regret giving you a thumbs down. For Bushcraft your review was fine. It just seemed like you were comparing apples & oranges. Next time use it for deer and you will understand what I meant. Sorry if my comment hurt your feelings.

@@johnperetore151 both the buck 119 and case are hunting knives, it’s very much apples to apples. And me remarking that the blade is thinner and not as tall doesn’t equate to me saying I think it’s too small. The knife was reviewed as it pertains to me. Also the 119, although an intended hunting knife, has become favored by many for bushcraft and general field work, so it’s not far fetched to compare them in task

Extremely. Case has a softer stainless steel, so as long as you’re good at keeping your angles consistent you’ll be just fine.
