we have live bands everywhere, mostly in bars and cafes and hotel lobbies.
singing contests everywhere.
in casinos, public and private corps and city and local events.
singing is just a pastime and there's the standard video karaoke in all of parties (bday, wedding, baptism, reunions...) and other social gatherings.
the ones who become popular have many acquaintances who didn't make it to the top yet.
there are tons of really good singers in my social circle alone who aren't popular yet that it makes me want to just promote them. seriously good.
also the bar for singing in the Philippines is just so high.
it's not enough to just be able to sing, u shud perform, rap and hit high notes, have the it factor and entertain by hosting...etc
