  • Skiing Roper’s Sierra High Route during historical snow year. Snow was crazy deep and almost no water sources except the snow.

    Epic trip guys! You beat us to it. Definitely feel you on getting baked in the snow, it’s probably the thing I’m most reluctant to deal with. Thanks for sharing!

      The snow conditions were super safe on the route. But you might have to start on the East like we did. I believe there is flood damage at Roads End. Adds an extra 10miles but we stopped at Mammoth. So still an opening to finish the whole thing

    This was such a joy to watch! Especially since we could recognize many of the passes from the JMT in the beginning. Thank you for taking and sharing video of your adventure! We would LOVE to do this one day! This video should have like a million views!

    @DAS rad trip... how'd the deathwish tours do?

    • @jimclean2
      @jimclean2  10 месяцев назад

      The DWT ski fantastic. I love those skis. They were a bit heavy for such a long tour and the width at time was a bit too wide.
      The new 104s might be nice! It’s always a struggle to figure a ski that skis great or a ski that is light.

    Strong work and what a year to be out there! How did those DWTs hold up for ya?
    Also, what brand are those toe-only crampons?

    • @jimclean2
      @jimclean2  Год назад +1

      DWT are the best skis (in my opinion). But, I would have went with the Sierra Tours for a bit narrower ski for the ease of traversing.
      The snow was insane. PCT thru hikers are going to have a tough year if they start south. But good for us… so much skiing to be had.
      Toe crampons: Tech Crampon 250 from the North Bend Pro Ski Shop in WA.

      @@jimclean2 that makes sense, a little skinnier waist would make for more pleasant edging. Regardless, good work!
      Do you recommend those crampons? Seem very appealing

    • @jimclean2
      @jimclean2  Год назад +1

      @@skiingthebasin they are very packable and sharp. I’m sure they are not any lighter than the Petlz Leopard FL, but they are easy to use. I have had no issues with them.
