MPL and the Concord Music Group are proud to announce two more landmark installments in the multiple GRAMMY-winning Paul McCartney Archive Collection.
On 2nd October, 2015, Paul’s early ‘80s back-to-back classics Tug of War and Pipes of Peace will receive lavish multiple configuration reissue treatment including exclusive 2015 remixes of both the entire Tug of War album and the Pipes of Peace classic collaboration with Michael Jackson 'Say Say Say,' a treasure trove of previously unreleased tracks and never before seen video, and much more.
'Pipes of Peace', Paul’s fourth solo album was released in 1983 and continued Paul’s early '80s run of platinum records. Singles from 'Pipes of Peace' included the title track and of course Paul and Michael Jackson’s timeless 'Say Say Say,' a multi-format global chart-topping smash continually cited as a landmark of that or any year - as recently as 2007, Vibe magazine rated 'Say Say Say' as one of the greatest duets of all time.
As with the GRAMMY-winning 'Band on the Run' and 'Wings Over America' Archive editions, Paul personally supervised all aspects of these releases and their various formats, which include:
The 'Pipes of Peace' 2-CD Special Edition is made up of the original album plus a 9-track bonus disc with such exclusive gems as a 2015 remix of 'Say Say Say' by Spike Stent, unearthed demos of three album tracks and outtakes 'It’s Not On' and 'Simple As That,' the previously unreleased 'Christian Bop' and more. The 2-CD/1-DVD 'Pipes of Peace' Deluxe Edition features a bonus video disc comprised of the original promo clips for all three of the album’s singles, plus previously unreleased clips from Paul’s film archives. The Deluxe configuration will also include a 112-page essay book and 64-page book that takes the reader behind the scenes on the 'Pipes of Peace' title track video shoot.
Both albums and their companion bonus audio discs will also be released as 2-LP 180-gram audiophile vinyl editions complete with gatefold sleeves and download cards. The newly remixed and mastered 'Tug of War' and remastered 'Pipes of Peace' will also receive standard and Hi Res digital releases, as well deluxe digital and Hi Res releases featuring all bonus audio.
'Tug of War' and 'Pipes of Peace are the newest instalments in the acclaimed and ongoing Paul McCartney Archive Collection. The inaugural release in the series, the Deluxe Edition of Paul McCartney and Wings’ 1973 milestone 'Band on the Run', won the 2010 GRAMMY Award for Best Historical Album, while the Deluxe Edition Box Set of the 1976 classic live collection 'Wings Over America' took the 2013 GRAMMY for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package.
Previous releases in this ambitious reissue program encompassing 41 years of timeless material from the most successful songwriter and recording artist of all time include solo works 'McCartney' and 'McCartney II', Paul and Linda McCartney’s 'RAM', and Wings’ 'Venus and Mars' and 'At The Speed Of Sound'.
The most underrated song of Paul McCartney. I can't believe that this song has never been performed in his concert...
Maybe the problem is that the rest of the album can't compare this level.
Yes, this remnds me of the McCartney of earlier days. Nostalgia.
McC Ortney underrated by who???????
Probably because it's a christmas song (to me). But then again It could be played at concerts around christmas. And too bad most of the time two of his other xmas songs are played much more often. This goes also for Once upon a long ago.
McC Ortney I know this song is so good
Who writes better songs than Paul McCartney? NO ONE!!!! He just does it good!
Reminds me of Christmas 1983 when I was a 13 year old lad. I love this song 😍
Me too. I was 16 that year.
We are the same age. Wonderful year and time in life. Lovely, lovely song.☮️💟
I saw this on my black and white oltra TV in my bedroom when I was about 12. With flu in bed. It was on the Russel Harty show
I was 24 when this song came out and I was a brand spanking new college graduate in 1984.
13 that year as well. What a time to be a teen. Hoping your Christmas coming up will be terrific.
We need the Pipes of Peace in 2020☮️
Young lady truer words were never written. Thank you.
Trueeeeeee
🇺🇸❤️
❤️✌️
Sending this out for Xmas.
I'll light a candle to all the joy that you have given us ...
Love this comment, thank you
this guy is the most talented guy that ever walked on this planet
This song is so calming. It was a number 1 song. Another McCartney classic.
It's not calming.
Paul Genious
His only solo UK number 1.
my favourite McCartney song
Christmas lights
Sr.Splittington same
Cant beleave the resentment against him all cause hee loved his wife
What about 'No more lonely nights?' I know you posted 4 years ago but I just had to ask!
With Mull of Kintyre. For me. 🙂
Literally genius honestly. Simply beautiful and so poignant even now all this time later.
"What do you say? will the human race be run in a day? or will someone say this planet were playing on......is it the only one?..
Help them to see, that the people here are like you and me. Let us show them how to play, the pipes of peace.."
Gives me shivers every time. Amazing
Small correction. Save this planet
sometimes this make me cry, it's so beautiful
Love this song, it's not played enough on TV & radio!
This song doesn't fit the style the radio stations want sadly
neither was it ever performed live
Because British people hate Germany. Paul McCartney showed a German and British officers fraternizing, and it is considered offensive bybthe British public. For example, in UK, you can only make war/epic movies if it is against Germany (Dunkirk, King s Speech, Darkest Hour), because the idea is that the new generations must inherit the hate from their parents and grandparents, and to commit go to war if it is against them.
It's never played. Just the same songs over and over again
@@Konngeman I'm pretty sure he played it the first time he came to Buenos Aires.
A beautiful song written by the King of melody.
With an absolutely killer bass line...
This is simply a track of pure beauty.
Increase the Peace 🙏
It's a stunning song, easily one of Paul's very best, and the video for it was the perfect accompaniment.
Awh his voice is so beautiful. Effortless singing.
The video of this great song is just simply one of the best made ever. The message in it is 'Play the pipes of peace'.
More relevant today then ever .
Really special song, amazing ideas.
I can listen to it, a hundred times, and it's very touching to the heart. And always a hope for Peace.
I love the acting it's so real.
And the behavior of the characters is so real. This is one of my favorites !
Please, never retire this video from your page. Thank you so much
Love you Paul, missing John. What a song writing combo you two became!
Still get goosebumps listening to this. Brings me right back to the young kid I was in 1983.
A genius now and forever.
Beautiful song. Love you forever, Paul!
we need the pipes of peace in 2016
too right
w q all the time we need them
We still do in 2018
Like we all do in 2020...✌️🏻
I know people say this a lot about a number of his songs but this actually IS an overlooked and underrated piece of work from McCartney. It has the feel of a Christmas song to me and the video production is worthy of a John Lewis advert.
It's not. This song is revered as one of his best.
one of the very first Paul songs that made me fan of his solo years!
We must sing this now!
Such a peaceful song. Paul's been singing are writing peace songs for decades.
Such an incredible song. Powerful and simple message, we all wish for and strive (most of us) for the same things.. which are to feel love, show love, kindness, peace inside and out, safety without fear, and connection with each other, to know that we matter and make others feel valued too. Yet we struggle as we yearn for these things so deeply, but get caught up in the petty trivial nonsense that takes up our time and energy where we lose sight of what the most important things are in life... universally...and losing ourselves..... creating the perpetual cycles of war/ suffering and through the cumulative pain we feel, it's blocks us from being able to receive or appreciate our blessings 🕊️
you did it again Paul ... its beautiful!
A genius, I don't have any other word to say about Paul
the man is simply a genius
Donna K yes indeed thanks William
totally agree one of my favourite songs , first song I can remember that I wanted to hear over and over
Why is this song never on any of the Christmas music channels? Such a good song!
The British public hate it (especially the clip). They think war ismgood guys (themselves) vs bad guys (Germans), so all this peace talk is considered betrayal
@@resireg That's not true. It's not on the Christmas music channels because it's not overtly a Christmas song, it just happened to be released in December and adapted from being an anti-war song to being a Christmas song for marketing purposes. I think the fact that Paul already has a successful more heavily Christmas orientated song that is repeatedly played at Christmas, wouldn't help with the inclusion of it on music channels.
As for the British public "hating" it - we don't. Quite the opposite. First of all, it hit number one (his first as a solo artist in fact.) and then as for it's lasting legacy, there was an advert that was issued by one of the big supermarkets a couple of years back that is almost a direct rip off of the video for Pipes Of Peace. We also had a similar advert based on the Christmas Day football match between English and German soldiers not too long ago. The English public (at least the younger generations) love stuff like that.
@@JJ-ej4yk well, the latest movies, whether 1919, War Horse even Tolkien are all about humans on one side versus animals on the other. JRR Tolkien was a famous linguist, who ended up publishing fantasy novels when he was old already. His biopic essentially depicts that his only legacy was fighting in the trenches, like the rest of his life is meaningless. In UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, they have this obsession about those wars. Not even in USA it is so extreme (for example, memorial day includes Vietnam, Korea, Iraq and Gulf veterans). In the commonwealth the feeling is that the war was never over.
@@resireg I think you're wrongly associating the narratives of stories with the general opinion of the public. I've never met anyone who has even mentioned World War 1 in conversation, let alone held any strong feeling towards the German's because of it. The only strong opinions I've ever seen from people are about World War 2 - and even then it's not towards Germans, it's toward Nazis. I know a lot of my generation feels an element of shame to our countries historic actions.
Movies aren't representative of real life; have conversations with real people. We're not so bad.
@@JJ-ej4yk well, all ypu have to do is listen to Nigel Farage speeches. He would go on his rants, telling that Germany is the historic enemy of Britons, and that they are the same evil they were more than 100 years ago. He always opposed any reconciliation and peace between both countries.
this song makes me cry 😥😥😥😥
não foi só você que chorou !!! canção muito forte !!!
this is the sound track to my life
THE BEST HEART WARMING SONG FROM PAUL McCartney EVER WE NEED THIS SONG PLAYED EVERY DAY NOW 🌎

...it's 1983 & sir paul still had such facile ability to craft a gorgeous melody like the one that bookended this #1 uk single...
*Lyrics:*
I light a candle to our love
In love our problems disappear
But all in all we soon discover
That one and one is all we long to hear
All round the world
Little children being born to the world
Got to give them all we can till the war is won
Then will the work be done
Help them to learn (help them to learn)
Songs of joy instead of burn, baby, burn, (burn, baby burn)
Let us show them how to play the pipes of peace
Play the pipes of peace
Help me to learn
Songs of joy
Instead of burn, baby, burn
Won't you show me how to play (how to play)
The pipes of peace (pipes of peace)
Play the pipes of peace
What do you say (what do you say)
Will the human race be run in a day (in a day)
Or will someone save this planet we're playing on
Is it the only one, (what are we going to do
Help them to see (help them to see)
That the people here are like you and me (you and me)
Let us show them how to play (how to play)
The pipes of peace (pipes of peace)
Play the pipes of peace, ooh
I light a candle to our love

Such a classic , awesome memories from my childhood , thanks Sir Paul , back in my childhood hometown Merseyside
Sounds as fresh as it did back in '83 timeless.
sang this song with my class a few years ago and I still Remember every word
Will someone save this planet we're playing on ?
Que música, senhores, que música!
Escutei ela pela primeira vez em 2015, nunca mais esqueci.
@@thyagoendemix 🥰👏👏👏👏
This song played in 1983 my junior year in high school in Dallas Texas. When others were shaming me that I wasn’t following Michael Jackson at Skyline High School I bragged about being one of the few people that saying the Pipes of Peace.
One of my favourite songs of Paul McCartney
Pipes of Peace was one of my first McCartney albums when I was 13 years old. Sounds even better 30 years later.
One of My favorite Christmas songs ♥
To those who give thumbs down: Elvis sang just for you, "What's so funny about peace and love and understanding?" John, Paul, George and Ringo: all they ever did was give us their love. And that is good enough for me. Like I wrote in1980: How can anyone murder a Beatle?
don riley 80 stupid people.
don riley so true
So moving another masterpiece.....Paul thankyouxxx
This is a must on my Christmas playlist every year. 🎄
We had to listen to this in my class and me and my friend started to cry because someone has died in both of our family and it just reminded us of them
Beautiful. People need to listen to this song.
McCartney , can write spiritual and social songs as Lennon , altought he focused in stories and love songs , he's just great !!!
Beautiful song by a legend and founder of modern music.
we learnt about the Christmas truce and we had to song this song .. I love it !!
*sing
Everything about this video is fact. but for the football that never took place my great granda was there it took place on 1914 on a place called no mans land they exchanged gifts cigarettes chocolate rum ect like you I love the song too
juv7 The football match took place, there were many diary entries about the Christmas truce and it didn't just take place in one spot. It happened down MOST of the front.
Todos amamos esta canción (We all love this song)
Apparently it's not true about the truce but I don't care. I Love the idea and the song. Plus. This may have been one of the earliest fake news stories! Hahaha
The eighties were wonderfully ripe for a melodic Paul. The sentiment is, sadly, all too timeless .
Thank you for uploading this treasure.
I love all the songs on this album
super underrated song. back to the egg is a super underrated album too.
breathes...smiles and feels fine.
My dad bought me this album decades ago. This song reminds me of my dad and makes me cry. I miss you, dad.
The video is awesome. One of my favorite with C'mon people.
This song is so well put together. love this song at Christmas :)

i´m from Argentina and i think that it is the best song! Amazing!
Thank you very much Paul!! Deep Peace!! ~~~ ∞ ~~~
I listened to this on acid, like rest of the beatles songs, we couldn't stop listening while the trip lasted. We decided to play something else, and we put Paul McCartney tunes on..was so great, ultimate 'feel good tunes'..haha! all 10 out of 10, on acid, we felt like beatles were giving concert live..omg,will never forget that..I am grateful so many splendid songs were made..
My dad played this when I was young. Haven't heard it in years then I heard it on the radio. I love when I find hidden gems. So many memories.
Man, could he sing, Such a sweet voice!!!
@Joy Stinson Yeah. Passed 80s not the same. Happens to the best of 'em.
THE BEST SONG
I listened to this in History❤️❤️
My favourite song
Now more than ever...
My mother said in 1964 that Paul and John are geniuses. I was 15. I was blown away by her perception. Unfortunately, it's 2020 and I imagine Paul is thinking, 'you were right John'. :(
the best song
Yeess, Paul is the Beatles
Album was a Christmas present when I was a teenager. Loved this.
PLAY THE PIPES OF PEACE!!!
this song is amazing
A beautiful song and greatly under appreciated, another great Paul McCartney song. Bob.
Man, sweetest voice ever!
Please find love and kindness in your heart
Possibly the first and most significant ever video clip I had seen on VHS for Paul in my early childhood Top of the Pops 85 I think..... At about 12 years of age, the words and music has had such positive and hope for me on the world and life :) Now in my late 40's it's still an all time classic favorite of mine :):):)
This is one of the very best song of McCartney! I love it a lot!!
Peaked at #1 in U.K. on 8 January 1984
ポールマッカトニーの歌は希望に満ちていますニャア〜
Let's play the pipe of peace now and forever
He has so many great songs, we simply can't remember them all
I personally think this is one of the best songs (for not saying the best) of Paul McCartney' s. I love it. I hope the time comes when he finally plays it live, he still hasn't done it after all these years 😮
love this song love paul so talented a genius !!!!
Lee A william 👍
Sounds amazing!
