Interesting that JCPenney of all places were the first in the US to work with a cutting edge designer like Miss Quant. Quite the opposite of a hip Carnaby Street boutique. One wonders how she found the experience of catering to the middle American customer while still retaining her unique vision.

Phyllis Newman ( one of those ladies who always makes me wish i was her) and Tony Randall are so gracious to Miss Quant! They are so in tune with the zeitgast!

tony randall's comment about "pretending to catch a bus" was something mary quant had previously said about the mini skirt liberating women's movement.
very interesting moment in time. a changing of the generations. the mini skirt and rock was in, and wml had about a year left in the era of prime-time game shows.

Excellent detail, nice eye (ear?) spotting that

Just a thought about the comment below. 'her hair was ahead of it's time'.. the style was merely a slight adaptation of twenties styles, so in effect it was a revival of the past.

The charm of this show is that it's almost as if the panel are friends of yours, and you are playing the game along with them A simple idea that works very well....

WML should have blindfolded the panel. That dress was a dead giveaway. RIP Mary Quant

The audience didn't seem to know who she was yet - she's just starting out. I love her hair and dress - all the women eventually started to wear the mini skirts and get their hair cut like that.

      Madam Abbster
I'm pretty sure that hairstyle started during the 1920s.because of the flapper girls

M Abbster, not at all. Vidal Sassoon was getting famous at much the same time, and he cut her hair, so she was spot on for her time, 60s London.

People always say this ahead of time BS xD everyone in the 60s looks modern because 60s is birth of modern fashion and modern hairstyles. She looks of her time. Every girl was wearing pixie cuts and geometric bobs in 66

at least Phyllis Newman recognized good styling...even if that simp Randall didn't or pretended not to. there's a lot of interest in sixties fashions among the millennial and gen Z.
