I've been watching your videos trying to figure out what classes NOT to take on my first semester lol but same here. I don't know if I'll like linguistics but I really hope I do and I reallyyyyy hope I get into an SLP program because, if I don't, I don't know what I'll do.

Well, maybe I should try to go to UCLA for linguistics then. I have already studied a lot of linguistics (mainly historical, syntax, and morphology) due to my love of creating conlangs for around 4 years. So, maybe this is the university for me!
Hi Mariok, sounds like you have a good foundation! I really enjoyed my studies and would recommend anyone interested to give it a shot. Conlangs are pretty cool too, though I could never attempt one myself. Anyway, good luck!

I'm a student at UCLA too and I'm not really sure if Linguistics is the best major for me so I'm just curious about opportunities in the field. Thanks!
Hi Paul, unfortunately I am legally barred from sharing any details about the job since I signed a non disclosure agreement. What I can say is that the classes I took at UCLA prepared me very well for this internship. But there are many things you can do with linguistics, and your major won't necessarily determine your future. Hope that helps

Did something about your program draw you in, or did something about Berkeley's deter you from studying linguistics there? You've been so helpful, bay area represent!
Hi Hollie, congrats on your acceptance to Cal!! Did you get into UCLA? My decision had more to do with my financial situation and the terms of my acceptance than the actual programs. HI , I am studying Linguistics, but my course is an integrated(5years with Bachelor's and masters combined) , so I'll be Studying applied linguistics as well. So do you have any idea what kind of internships I should go for , or do I need to do any internships at all. Subjects that I am offered are Linguistics, mathematics, statistics, computer science and English. They are teaching fundamentals of human language for now .
I just want to know how much it's costing you to go there. I really want to go there but do not want to pay a lot of money. I come from a low-income household that has never had anyone go to college. I am just scared racking up thousands for undergrad. Please let me know
Information about cost of tuition and housing can be found on the UCLA website. Please check there to estimate what your cost will be. Last year it cost around $30k for me, but the amount that I pay is not necessarily going to be the amount that you or any other student will pay. You may be offered scholarships or grants based on income and merit. But do consider that UC is the most expensive option when it comes to public school in California. CSU costs less than UC.

I’m a student who’s going to be transferring from a cc to ucla this coming fall and I’m trying to buy a laptop for school since my other one broke but I wanted to know how extensive the study load is at school. Sorry I don’t think this is a question people ask but between a 256 gb vs a 512 gb(one whole terabyte), would u suggest with a larger storage or a smaller storage enough for the school year?
I feel like it depends on your major but tbh I did most of my work on google drive so the storage on the computer itself didn't really matter for me. Maybe someone doing CS would need more storage.

hey, how is the difference in education level between cc and a university? is it comparable in first two years or is cc level makes u struggle in the last two years at a big uni?
