Why your windshield wiper blade hops

Don't start bending your wiper arms to correct your wiper hopping problem. The hopping can be due to other issues. Common fixes like WD40 or RainX might not last. You will notice considerably more scraping noises in cold weather when the wiper is less flexible. WD 40 might help in cold weather, but the effect is not long lasting. Same for RainX and other fluids that others offer as a solution.
If possible, use oem parts. Factory parts are superior but often more expensive.

Great tip. Outside temperature is also very important. Lower temperatures make the wipers skip initially and then they stop skipping after the cabin is warmed up. Smoothness of the windshield is another factor. Obviously, your wax is helping in some way.

It is not dirt on the windshield. It is silicone. You need special...really special silicone remover.

You are probably right. Sometimes the ‘dirt’ on the wiper is not dirt either as it can be a form of lubricant.
