Thank you! Yes - a full post mortem. I hope I’m not becoming too predictable 🤣

I think that’s the latest revision so after your cleaning it should be safe to say it’s goodun.
Also no need for any sealant, you’re more likely to contaminate the box if you try

in all fairness, anyone whos regularly used sealant /liquid gasket should know not to put so much that it can go where its not wanted.
imho i would be using some here because that surface is plenty big enough, so a small enough bead of sealant would do zero harm, and have all the benefits of using some. when it comes to leaks, prevention is better than cure.

@@ribbitism you’d be doing it wrong, the gear mesh clearances are for a dry joint

@@DavesDiscoveriesChannel You may be right.. But do you believe those meshes are so precisely manufactured that a 0.01-0.02mm deviation in distance would cause issue? I dont. I'd bet there's more variance than that between different housings when they machine the surface flat. And after seeing what I have with regards to much more accurate and specific machined tolerances in my WSB engine experience.. for this I'd still take a super thin layer of sealant every day over a potential leak in this scenario. To each their own really, as long as we try to make highly informed decisions for the best outcome.

@@ribbitism there’s no sealant from the factory and the motors are fixed to the TOP of the gearbox, no chance of leakage

I'm guessing that there are two motors and two gear sets to select two gear clusters ? if I remember correctly there is a three speed gear set that drives a two speed gear set ( giving six forward gears ) - then to the diff.

There are two drums in the transmission, each drum has a cut out that can move either shifter fork, one motor per drum 👍
Inside the brush pack of each motor there are a pair of hall sensors used to calculate how far the motor has turned.

What happened with this motor? Just clean it up and then you could fix the 3 lines problem?

This is the second hand replacement. End covers and carbon dust were removed/cleaned as a precaution. Fitting video to follow!
