I just want to take a minute to give your flowers. In every FG, you excel. You put the work. That’s very impressive and inspiring. I aspire to get on that level one day. Keep grinding man!

You've no idea how many times I got punished from that "safe" range using boot.
I know vanilla GBVS boot was a war crime, but my word you have to be at the absolute tip of the hitbox to be safe it feels.

To be fair I DID walk up and block the move, so the range may have looked like it was safe but was definitely not.

@K7Showoff I tested it in lab a few days ago and I couldn't believe it but safe range is ridiculous. At least vs Djeeta ai.
You have to get it on the very edge of the hitbox for it to be Even, or barely positive. Almost all the time Boot is never safe I'm not even gonna lie.
I'd love to be corrected though.

Im a noob to fighting games. How do you defense like this? Just hold guard and try to predict crouch or regular while doing it, then release and try to hit buttons when you think theres an opening?
Also how do you deal with corner pressure? I seem to get pushed back a lot and then juggled to death. Lol
    Great video btw, subbed!

Playing defense like this comes with experience and knowing what options your opponent has to open you up, what ranges those options are available from...and honestly just figuring out what the specific player you are fighting against likes to go for through trial and error. Unlike running an offensive gameplan there's not an easy answer to playing defense. I'd suggest saving replays and then going back to them and looking at what opened you up, and trying to recreate those scenarios through the Record Input function in training mode and trying things out against it.

For Granblue, you actually want to default crouch block. it'll cover lows and anything that goes overhead is reactable, either by 2H or standing up and blocking.
As for dealing with corner pressure, that can be a lot more complicated. So with Granblue, getting your attack blocked will slowly push your character backwards. This means that characters will have a certain amount of time to keep comboing you. if you find that they are sticking close to you consistently, this means they are either doing something that is punishable and unsafe, or they are setting up a trap. if it is punishable, lets say they're jabbing, grabbing, or something that requires short range, a dp will counter those options. However, if they set up a frame trap, lets say they do a full block string, and you queue up a dp, they can just block you and punish. Therefore, dealing with corner pressure takes a little bit of patience, don't always hit buttons unless you find that they're a little slow in continuing their next attack, or are pushed back a sufficient distance because you've blocked enough that they can't follow up with anything.
These are just the basics however, and the match can go on a lot differently than what has been described just in the corner, so try to learn your opponent's habits when putting you in the corner, and adjust to them as needed. If you see that they like to attack you in the corner when you're getting up, a dp can work well, but note that they can also adjust and not attack when running up. On the other hand, if you see your opponent running up next to you and blocking, a grab might be your best options. There's a lot of nuance in fighting games, so only take these tips as suggestions. Good luck on improving.

You can get all the advice there is. There are helpful no doubt but for fighting games, really it's just about guessing.
Experience/play time will help you make educated guesses.

Is there a reason for gran to want to end his corner combos on his dp? The oki after feels kind of awckward.

@@WeedSmoker69 it kinda looks like a reverse beat where you can start off with a heavy atk and end it with a weak atk to have less of a delay when attking
Except gbf doesn't have reverse beats and Gran is just lucky to have a special that sort of emulates this feature
