We always run our roku box with our projector off of my hotspot and use my husband's phone as the remote by also connecting it to my hotspot, but I was out of data on my phone. My husband had plenty, but we could NOT get it to connect to his. Changed his hotspot name and password to the same as mine and it connected 🙌 you are seriously a legend!

You most likely have a Roku account. Log in and delete the account then your Roku app should work. It worked for me but I need to set up my tv Roku again by following instructions. Hope it works.
This video was the only thing online that helped me!! BUT I had to do something a little different. iPhone won’t let you use hotspot and WiFi at the same time, and the Roku app won’t let you use the app unless you are connected to WiFi. So what I did was so the same thing that you did with the changing the name of the phone and the password on the hotspot, but I turned my hotspot on, get my old phone, connect to the hotspot on my current phone. So I got my old phone and tv connected to the hotspot on my new phone, and was able to connect to the tv on my old phone! Thank you so much!!
