As an animal artist and sculptor, I would've NEVER thought to use a different breed pf figurine as a base for my pet, I would've got a more similar breed... GREAT JOB!!! I'M SERIOUSLY IMPRESSED YOU SLAYED THAT! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Please just make sure you seal it with food safe glaze! The moisture from the cake can rehydrate the clay and the paint can be toxic. But I LOVE this idea and your DIY

As a potter I can say that there is NO WAY the moisture from the cake is going to make the clay or plaster that this is made from wet!! Also, the acrylic paint is going to seal this and nothing will harm anyone.

@sumduma55 I had hippos in a mud bath on one and hippo bridal party on the other. I had 2 cakes cos not everyone likes traditional fruit cake. It's not something I've seen others do often but it definitely is a thing 😆 xxxx
Every year, I make pet ornaments for all my friends and family of their pets. I do them the same way you did the cake toppers. I find the most similar shape, sculpt what I need to and paint. My sister got a new dog last summer (they already have 4 of these ornaments 2 of the dogs have now passed away) and when she opens her Christmas gift she screamed “BABE LOOK I KNEW WE’D GET A DOLLY ORNAMENT THIS YEAR!!!” As their new dogs name is dolly. One of their friends little kids had actually asked where Dolly was when they had last visited before christmas and she told her “who knows. We may get one this year”

Very well done! When my wife and I married we had two wonderful cats - but as we were marrying outdoors and our cats were strictly indoors - they couldn't attend. We did have their presence with us though as we made a couple dozen lifesize photographs and mounted them on foam core backing... in several different postures. We positioned them in various locations where all was taking place and asked the photographer to try to capture one or both on each of our formal shots. Well - we now have a wedding album with either Betty or Eliot or both in every image! Over the years our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews have all spent some mornings with us looking through our album trying to find them all! And this was before "Waldo"! Wishing you both a lovely wedding :)
Well, done, lady, I had a cake like this for my daughter’s birthday one year. Our dog was an easy breed for the figurine, and the little bite out was hilarious. She did not know I was planning it and it was a lovely surprise. They will be very adorable touches for your wedding cake. Well done you for your art talent and perseverance. 🐾
DIYing the stuff you like to personalise it without the giant price tag makes life interesting. You learn so much even if it’s something small, I think the dry brushing suggestion someone posted is a good idea to get more depth of colour!
