That is clever. Even though as you’ve heard in the United States we could not use our stamps again, it’s a Federal crime. However, if I mess up my envelope, which I have done, I would love to have a product like that to remove my stamp and put it on a clean envelope. Even for crafts it would be helpful. Thank you for sharing. I just saw on Amazon they sell it. How awesome.
hey Robin, it's a good product, it would be perfect for what you described. I have found another way to get cancelled stamps off for crafting is too tear the envelope and put the the stamp & the envelope bit into a bowl of water and soak for a few minutes, this will release the old style stamps with ease. ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
This method will work for the more modern self adhesive stamps of which the glue do not "dissolve" with water. For stamp collecting: if you have an older stamp which had to be licked or water added to stick it on the envelope, removing it with water (watch videos by stamp collectors) is the easier and better method. Stamps should not be re-used for posting or shipping!
@@ginnyscraftroom I still use this for lots of stuff Ginny but I've discovered that soaking the old gummy stick stamps in a bowl of warm water takes the paper off the stamp easily, saves money 💰 hugs Donna
In the states when we send out a letter, we place our sticky stamp just like you do at the top right corner of the envelope and then before it leaves our local post office they use their ink stamp (usually in blue or black ink) and place it pretty much over top of the stamp that I placed on the envelope. It says the city it left from and the date. Possibly even the time. And when the person receives their letter there’s no way to reuse it. . Because we pay for our stamps it’s like the post office is validating them & also voiding them out by placing their date & time stamp on top.Phew...that was a lot to type with the word stamp in it. (Hehe) But thank you for showing the product. I have other ideas for its use.
!! hi Poppy !! LOL to the stamps reference...I know what you mean about the post that is what happens here as well, but the stamps I show here slipped through the system, enabling them to be re-used. Also crafters use the stamped stamps for craft and mixed media projects so this is very useful for that. I originally used it to get those big ol ugly brand stickers of my plastic containers! boom works perfectly on all of them. cheers Donna
I use a lot of different post offices & I've found that most post offices do not use an ink stamp anymore but I remember years ago when they did. Also, nowadays they take a photo of every piece of mail once it gets to the main sorting facility.
!! hi terri !! i found it worked on stamps by accident, I first used it to get stickers off storage containers. I then thought i wonder if it will work on postage stamps? it says when it evaporates the glue stays sticky!! and it does, I got mine from Bunnings in Australia, cheers Donna
Hi, I keep seeing that you reply to messages stating how it is a crime to reuse. I would recommend not only replying to comments but actually put a disclaimer in the description at the top. Please do not suggest to reuse them as postage as it is illegal to do, and showing this online can get you in trouble.
@@JunkJournalideas Maybe the Aussie stamps are water soakable. A lot of them were printed in two versions--self adhesives, also with lick and stick gum. Here in the States most of the newer ones are not water soakable. Water soaking is so much easier, I do not use the other fluids if I do not have to, If water soakable, I like to give them a 1 or 2 minute microwave soak.
@@davidtrutwin3790 the vintage ones are water soakable. I havent tried the latest ones that have lines cut through them and are sticker backed like you described. I'm only interested in the vintage variety.
Gday Michele I use it a lot and I also found some stamps don't come off with it, and will come off if soaked in a bowl of water foe less than a minute thanks for tuning in and happy crafting 🦋 cheers Donna
Many people collect stamps as a hobby and use them in craft, and "soaking" off stamps has been a long established activity. This video is very useful for removing self adhesive stamps. However to is not legal to reuse stamps to save money on postage, as suggested in your video. Why not do it again and remove that suggestion.
If it hasn’t been validated through post office....it’s fair game...and if you’re using to recycle onto scrapbook pages or junk journals....totally legal
Not necessary at all. Just wet the back of the envelope, let it soak through, then peel the stamp off and roll your thumb around on the back in a circular motion to remove any remaining paper.
What? Haven't you said that you were re-using stamps for years? Peeling them off and sticking on new envelopes? Are you insane? It's a federal crime. What do you think a postal stamp is?
thanks Pradeep, i shot this video back in 2018 at the time i didn't know this? I put a disclaimer in the description, i'll move it up the top so it is more visible :-) hugs Donna
Sometimes charities will send you a letter with a stamped self addressed envelop inside. I don't consider those stamps as having ever been used to mail anything. They are fair game. It is no different than someine mailing you a new unsed stamp.
