    This young man has everything going his way.
    He is an excellent player, he just needs that stinging killer instinct.
    When you get a match point, be like Fed, put i away.
    I've been watching tennis for 40 years.
    He has a big future, very exciting to watch.
    All the best.
    What an amazing mother.

      @peterhaslund Год назад +7

      Federer (assuming that's Fed) is a very odd example to choose. Fed was very backwards and shy as a youngster and had to mature into stardom much later than his talent evolved. Even in his prime Fed would inexplicably lose to less talented players (like Nadal at Wimbledon) because he was mentally overwhelmed... Fed was a pussy, so what killer instinct are u talking about?

      @@guggenator1241 That's nonsense - you're just seeing what you want to see due to dislike of the mother. It's obvious he has passion for tennis just by hearing him talk about it. Contrast with someone like Kyrgios who openly says he hates the sport. Holger's enthusiasm shines through. I think most players must play partly to make their families proud - isn't that human nature? But nobody would be winning titles as well as consistently climbing up the rankings if they didn't like it themselves.

    Holger is now in top 10 after winning ATP Masters 1000s in Paris. Beating 5 top 10 players in the same tournement has never been done before including Alcaraz and Djoko in the final. Also beating Djoko in a final after loosing 1st set has never been done before.
    Holger's signature seems to be that he is best on the biggest points - which is a crazy attribute for a 19-year old.

    As much as I'm generally not a fan of parents being coaches, I can consider this an exception, especially that his mother seems professional and that she knows whate she is doing. As long as parents know how to keep a balance between being a parent and a coach and know the difference between caring and controlling, I don't see any problem in it. This seems a success story, and it all depends originally on the relationship between them which ofc varies from one family to another.

    Mom seems nice, but it appears she enables her son's poor choices. Better change something.

    You had to teach him how to behave in public and how to respect his opponents. I think that you might not even understand what I mean. You have to add to the title ..Raising ….and a spoiled brat.

    Too bady she didn't teach him humility and respect for others. Don't care if someone is a great tennis player, there are thousands of them. The ones you remember, and support and root for, are the humble ones, not the arrogant punks.

      He's not an arrogant punk and he will win majors. We've just seen him get to QFs of Wimbledon on his 2nd attempt. Just 'cause he had a rocky start on the tour that doesn't matter as he has improved a lot recently. He comes across very likeable these days. Plus I'm sick of these over polite fake pro tennis players like Federer. The more feisty young generation are much more interesting.
