can you explain the last question why we cant do it by the formula mol/L? like 1 mol is 36.5g so 36.5g devided by the 8.5 % mass of hcl per litre?so that would be 36.5/8.5% of 1050g per litre
Hey there, that one's tricky because even thought 1 mole is 36.5 grams, 1 L is 1050 grams. Therefore, we do want to get the units of mol/L, which involves getting the grams to cancel. So that's why we do: 1 mol / 36.5 grams • 1050 grams / 1 L grams in the bottom of the 1st fraction and top of the 2nd get those to cancel, leaving us with 28.76 mol/L. But, since only 8.5% of that is HCl, we want to multiply by 8.5% or 0.085. If we divide by 8.5%, that'll mean that we already have 8.5% and are looking for 100%. Not sure if that answered your exact steps, but let me know if that helps!
